Proper stinks doesn’t it. Retired because she’s not gonna start. Says it all about her, unfortunately. It’s always been about Mary Earps.

Seems a shame for Earps to quit at this point. Even if she isn't playing her experience would surely be hugely benefiical in the squad . And if Hampton gets injured then what?

I'm sure she has her reasons. I've been a big fan of hers since she broke into the side, but I would have thought it much better if she'd stayed on for the Euros

Another thing is maybe she wanted to retire at her peak rather than at a later stage when like so many past England keepers in both men and women they become error prone. Thinking lines of Seaman, Shilton, James... all over stayed welcome.

Thanks, but I should have specified that here in Canada we don't get the match.

I'm in France, Eurosport has it

One or two things on social media suggesting this could be Sarina Wiegman final tournament with the lionesses. Saying that she's expected to step down as manager, hope it's not true! how long left on her contract.

Kirby retires now... so that's Earps gone... Bright out on mental health... something isn't right. Retirements before a major tournament can't be helping the teams morale.

Performance tonight was terrible, strange gone from Friday night on a high after crushing Portugal to suddenly be back to down to reality.

Expansion to the league is all but confirmed then. Its probably the best case scenario to be fair.

In summary, next season;

- Top 2 of WSL2 get automatic promotion

- Bottom of WSL gets a playoff with 3rd place from WSL2

Then the season after the permanent structure will be that:

- WSL2 winner gets promotion

- Bottom of WSL gets relegated

- WSL2 runner up and 2nd Bottom side of WSL have a play-off

Im happy with that, gives a bit more jeopardy than just 1 team facing relegation

Should make things a little more interesting, problem been last few seasons the team bottom tend to be miles behind everyone else. Least this way there will be more of a relegation scrap.
