It was awful but it was better than this. Sacking him was the right decision but we’ve managed to bring in someone worse.

I’ll hold my hands up, I believed Ruud would be good. But he’s lost, he has favourites despite us being woeful and he has no pragmatism at all.  I’m not convinced his game plan would work even with all of his players in the system it just looks naive and easy to break down.

What it does highlight, is that Coopers plan to keep everyone behind the ball was a necessity because of how many clowns we have at the back

I don't have an issue with parking the bus when you have a limited squad like we have but I will never understand what was going through his head to bring in 'defensive' plodding geriatric wingers like Ayew and BDCR.  If you're going to set up defensively you need an outlet and you need pace to counter.  Tw@

We were unfit and unorganised under Cooper and even though we had fluked some results, the performances were getting worse. Not only that, but there was unrest in the changing room, that and the forest links and fan unrest... he had to go, it was an utterly awful appointment.

However, we rolled the dice and appointed an inexperienced big name and novice manager to save our season 🤦

We have sadly got exactly what we deserved this season. Dreadful decisions from the board.

The more I think of him, I am convinced now that he was a terrific manager for this iteration of LCFC, considering what he was able to eke out of the lowest of the low general quality of this squad (with a coupe notable exceptions). If memory serves me right, we failed to score just once in 12 matches that Cooper managed in PL. We were 16th, two points above the drop, when he was sacked. That is an incredible feat, compared to RVN. Name one manager who could've done better with this roster of players, and exactly how he could've done it.

Besides being an obviously poor manager, what made cooper such a poor appointment was that he was never ever going to be accepted by the fans especially considering we would likely be losing most weeks, so he wouldn’t be able to build up credit. I wanted to give him a chance but how can you when we were shit every week and lost most weeks. It’s this time deaf type of shit that the board do which is so frustrating and further proof of their sheer incompetence.

Ruud being our worst ever manager doesnt make Cooper any less of a heinous appointment.

My dying wish is that Cooper goes back to Forest and appoints Ruud as his assistant:brendan:

Thanks Cooper for getting outplayed by one of the worst sides in PL history then getting bailed out by a red card and Fatawu who he had benched for no reason 👍

Valid, I totally agree….

But my point stands, it was a fantastic feeling winning with the last kick of the game having been 2–0 down at half time. You can’t buy those emotions. If we had battered them 3-0 and played them off the park it would’ve obviously been nice but not the same from an emotional standpoint. Limbs flying everywhere and not forgetting the non stop chanting long after the game had finished with no fan’s leaving early!

All I know is, that was a sweet 4 hour drive home! Spurs away being the next best.

There’s been some long dark soul searching drive’s this season. Newcastle and Everton sticking out from memory!

So yeah, maybe if you were there you’d have fond memories too….

You said it yourself.  An incredible feat compared to RVN.  But not an incredible feat in it's own right because we were garbage and horrible under Cooper and I don't think I will ever forgive him for his journeyman fetish that led him to bring in Ayew, Reid and Skipp and condemned us before a ball was kicked.  We are 19th now, not only because we have gotten even worse under RVN but also because Wolves and Palace have got their shit together and left us in their wake.

So who could have done it better?  To answer your question, Moyes has shown at Everton what a well organised team can achieve and look at Nuno at Forest.  Their limitations are mitigated by setting up to play on the counter which would also have been our best chance imo.

And they sign Danny Ward to play in goal.

So Cooper left with us just outside the relegation zone. We currently have half the points of the side in fourth bottom. It was absolutely the correct decision to bin him. With our spineless ownership and 'special' fanbase I think we are unmanageable.

The narrative that we were harsh on cooper and should not have sacked him and that we would have had a chance of staying up under him is just embarrassing.

We were utter shite under him, too.

We barely deserved 2-4pts of the 10 or so he got us.

The ‘best’ performances this season, even though he’s inept and needs to go, have been under Ruud, no doubt.

League table works on results, not pretty football, not what should have been, not chances, not possession, its all irrelevant at end of season.

Points (and occasionally goal difference) is what matters.

In short who cares if it was deserved or not.

Under Ruud we may have done more tippy tappy which some seem to think is a higher level of football, but we have been totally inept at putting the ball in the back of net and conceding more, yet you say we have improved.

I have stopped watching us as we so bad now.  We are absolutely worse under Ruud.

Question.

If you was told by the club, we will only play indirect football to the ability of the players moving forward would you stop watching, as I am curious, we seem to have a lot of football snob fans now, who think we should be playing like Barcelona.

The problem with all of these anti Cooper posts, is most of them have no reasoning behind it its usually a vague "its shit" or "I cant understand what happening".  The idea behind Cooper is he wouldnt be playing slow intricate Football as that is what was needed to survive.  but it seems we have so many entitled fans now who think that type of football is beneath us.

The vast majority of posters as well, lets not forget were calling him to be gone in the first week of the season, there was no patience or willingness for it to work across many people, just sheer lunacy, which most people outside of Leicester recognise.

Try to make the point Ruud is a worse manager and there is even a sheer stubbornness to admit it, instead the counter is "umm well cooper shouldnt have been here in the first place".  I have never seen such hatred to a manager, and its probably the most unjustified I have witnessed.

This needs to be addressed, because we will be employing future Cooper's it will happen, and we cant have the same fan revolt happening.

The reason we had these players - Ayew, BDCR, Skipp, Edouard was down to Cooper. He’s the manager that created a team that would need a miracle to stay up. The terrible performance of the team during his time, the decline in results that was already occurring during his tenure and his neglect of creative players like Fatawu, Mavididi and Ricardo show him up as a catastrophic appointment after Enzo. He wouldn’t’ve kept his created team up, the fact that RVN was even worse is irrelevant.

This for me where cooper lost me. Didn’t make sense.

Both appointments were horrible it’s a fact.

I think there was a few things with the cooper thing.

- He wasn’t just ex forest, he was absolutely revered by them and to come here when there is hatred our end toward them is tone deaf. I’m not saying it’s right he got the abuse he got or that he wasn’t given much of a chance but it was almost unfair on him to appoint him. I just think this is the kind of thing the board don’t understand, it’s different to a player from forest. Managers need to build up credit by wins and he was never going to be able to do that.

- he’s not a great manager is he. The big red flag for me above anything was how forest fans were saying we love him for getting us promoted but he’s just absolutely nowhere a premier league manager. And then we were starting to play just like they did (I know they stayed up but that was because of how shit we were) and all their concerns were coming to the forefront

- I actually preferred us playing more direct, I didn’t have a problem with that but there wasn’t any kind of plan or way of playing. It’s the same under Ruud and now we know it’s probably just how shit this group is.

I was willing to give cooper a chance but it was just never going to work.
