ts_1010 Posted 19 January 2025 Posted 19 January 2025 We need to decide on a direction and style of play as a club. The ethos dictates the type and attributes of player we buy. If we try to stick to the ethos of the past few years, high possession, high press etc. We will need to establish which fullback is moving up and where they go. Looking at our likely squad next year I'd assume that the RB will push up. If he does I'd want an RCB that is mobile enough to cover the space at RB that will be there on a counter attack. (What we failed to do under Cooper.) So. GK:Stoly LB/CB Nelson CB Soutar CB/RB New Defender RB/RW JJ/Woyo CDM Ndidi CDM Skipp CAM BEK LW Mavi RW Fatawu (hopefully too injured to sell.) ST Daka Reserves: New GK Vestegaard Thomas Either JJ/Woyo Choudhury Ayew Bobby I'm going to assume that Skipp is good enough in the Championship, and Ndidi doesn't get a better offer. Bilal might well push for a move though, but he's on a long contract so we will see. Based on that we need 1 x GK either cover or as the number one. 2 X CB 1 as cover. 1 for 1st team. 1 x CDM cover 2 x CAM/Winger 2 x Striker That's a minimum. No idea what the academy can produce for us. And if we get an Embargo we are shafted.
LVFox Posted 19 January 2025 Posted 19 January 2025 (edited) New GK Stolaryczyk Coulibaly Cover New LB New LB Souttar Nelson Vestegaard New CB Winks Skipp Braybrooke New CM Fatawu BDCR Mavididi McAteer New AM Alves New CF Ayew Daka Hermansen the big sale. BEK and Okoli go on loan to the continent. 7 in the door. Edited 19 January 2025 by LVFox
Popular Post Lambert09 Posted 20 January 2025 Popular Post Posted 20 January 2025 It sounds like Morgan Whittaker is leaving for around 5m. surely he’s worth a punt, bench cover for us, championship ready. Good age and great price. Makes too much sense I suppose 7 1

A season in the championship if we go down would be good for him. I'd aim to buy 3-4 of the better players in that league (depending on finances). Who those players are is another question, but I believe that is the market we should be looking at in the summer or even now. Tell you what if there isn't more than 1 purchase, Top and Rudkin have decided AND sent us down, telling RVN to play with THAT squad/team for the last 16-18 games, I think BEK will be pushed by him mum/agent to stay in the PL with another club and we might even get offered more, he has definitely shone on occasion. He didn't join us to play in Championship. He'll leave along with Mads, probably Winks, and everybody we will try and get shot off, who are expensive.

Makes too much sense I suppose For that price I'd be taking a punt that he didn't have the season for the ages last year and he's reverted for being a very mediocre Championship player. How dominant he was last season would surprise me it's thr latter rather than the former. 2

Sankey93 Posted 20 January 2025 Posted 20 January 2025 Yeah it’s a shame because I’d really like him, I know he’s injured atm but it’s a risk worth taking before his injury he was looking really good this season.
FoxinNotts Posted 20 January 2025 Posted 20 January 2025 I’m can’t believe there hasn’t been more action in THIS window, in preparation for next season in the championship. Albert Gronbaek for example. With our Danish connections we should be all over this guy! We need to take a punt on a cheapish striker too. Not a big time Charlie, but someone who will score lots in the Championship, but willing to give it a go for the rest of this season too 2
JimJams Posted 20 January 2025 Posted 20 January 2025 We can't go for Gronbaek given what we need elsewhere. 1

Fox85 Posted 20 January 2025 Posted 20 January 2025 Whittaker could be leaving Plymouth for £5 Million. Why the **** are we not all over this? He would be perfect on the RW and would solve 25% of the current problems 1
JimJams Posted 21 January 2025 Posted 21 January 2025 (edited) Defo. Would be surprised if it's that low a fee. He's literally their only chance of staying up. He's not hitting near last seasons figures but if you look at the results with him vs when he's been out it's bleak. With him something like 4 wins 8 draws 8 defeats. Without it's 0 wins 1 drawn and 6 losses. Edited 21 January 2025 by JimJams
Foxes96 Posted 21 January 2025 Posted 21 January 2025 I don’t think as many will leave as we maybe think/ would like, because we pay our players too much, or clubs won’t pay what we want. Planning for worst case; ie. we go down and get hit with an embargo, we’ve still not got an awful squad at Championship level. What we need this January therefore is the same as what we need for the here and now. A Left sided defender, a striker and a Goalkeeper (otherwise we could be left with just 1 next year). Ideally we would also sign a winger and Mcateer could either be sold or loaned out. I also think we may keep hold of Bilal. Whilst he’s shown promise I don’t think he’s done enough to convince a club to spend c. £30m on him which we would likely demand to show a reasonable PSR profit. Hopefully, Alves, Braybrooke and Nelson get significant minutes as we drastically need to improve the amount of sellable assets in the squad. GK - Stolarczyk / ?? RB - Coulibaly / Justin LB - ?? CB - Nelson / Vestergaard / Souttar / Coady CM - Winks / Skipp / Braybrooke / Hamza CAM - El Khannous / Alves WG - Fatawu / BDCR / Mavididi / McAteer ST - Daka / Ayew / ?? Out: Vardy (free), Thomas (free), Iversen (free), Ward (free), Soumaré (€5m), Hermansen (€40m), Faes (€10m), Ndidi (€10m), Kristiansen (loan), Okoli (loan).

Muzzy_no7 Posted 21 January 2025 Posted 21 January 2025 Sean Dyche Ian Woan Steve Stone Tony Loughlan Billy Mercer Mark Howard. Oh and a new DOF and sporting director.

They can't just impose an embargo because they want to shaft us. Even the EFL has to operate within the rules. It's understandable that people think the EFL will want to hit us hard when we go down, but there are some wild claims flying about have little basis in reality. I'm not even convinced they'll be able to impose a points deduction, let alone a transfer embargo. 2

Dyche would love to manage us, as well. Still lives near Kettering and still goes Fosse Park 😂 Edited 21 January 2025 by Muzzy_no7 1
