Absolutely disgraceful. And we think Putin and his ilk are the only dictators/restrictors of free speech.

Trump and his cabinet are operating as dictators in a democracy.

I wish American people would pull their heads out of the sand and realise but I know that's never going to happen.

"Rednecks" must outnumber "normal realists" by many thousands.

It's really frustrating that Trump tanked the markets and then rolled back on sanctions creating a false recovery but by doing that making himself and wealthy investors loads of money.

 Something stinks on Capitol Hill.

His whole cabinet is just disgusting everyone he has picked is just a liar or a conman of some sort feels like they have been in charge for years and it’s only been what 80 days. It’s seem like they can do no wrong to their cult either which is just crazy I have never seen anything like it .

keep going on about 70 countries that want to make a deal but can’t name one of them.
they break something then try to fix it and then call it the art of the deal 😂 lunatics

The case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia who was sent to El Salvador prison is strange as well. I’d be surprised if he is still even alive as his attorney has said no one has been able to get contact to him or given any update on how he is

Every single country/government in this world is corrupt, but USA seeks to portray itself as the freedom fighter for the world when actually it (Trump) is purely acting in its self interest.

Sure, it'll support Ukraine and other conflicts, but only while it suits them to do so. And sadly, that's true of all major governments in this world.

So it's just based on length of service then?

Must be plenty of  cougar strippers that have put their time in. Surely, for service to community they should be Knighted.

Watched a little bit of the debate on British Steel nationalisation, Iain Duncan Smith really does have a bee in his bonnet regarding the Chinese and gas drilling in the UK.

I wonder if someone could calmly explain to him that resorting to Paleolithic forms of energy generation won't lead anywhere good (and why), and that while he might disagree strongly with the Chinese form of government, cooperation with them on at least some matters is a thing of necessity for the continuity of human civilisation.

Brother of Manchester Arena bomber attacks prison officers https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cz95kggw7nxo

this fella is serving min 55 years

Why the hell arent people like him stuck in virtual solitary with min nice things available to them. He’s not being rehabilitated - I really despair about our attitude to evil bastards.

He has attacked prison officers before. His previous punishment was time added to his sentence. Not much point when already looking at a 55 year minimum. There must be surely a drastic reduction in any privileges he still might retain. Minimum contact with staff and other prisoners with no access to cooking facilities. I too despair. He is the one who should be in despair permanently

I mean why give people like this any responsibility? - would be on bread and water if it was up to me ( and sat in a dark room for most of his time in his cell up until he dies)

as a society we fail to appreciate that evil people don’t think like we do and take advantage of our generally relaxed attitude towards them.  Because we lock them up we seem to think that we need to give them privileges to compensate - it’s nuts

I don't support capital punishment but with evil scum like this there is a need to isolate from others and to fully protect staff particularly as this is the second serious attack on officers

I’d build a Azkaban type jail in the sea and drop them in that.

Dark cell, bread and water, toilet, shower, bright orange jumpsuit and no mattress.

They choose their bed, let them lie in it and have minimal life.

This thread has mostly been about Trump and Putin.

Weird how even paragraphs not about them can apply just as well.

But the Chinese don't cooperate? they have their plan and i'm pretty sure they don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. Should of built more nuclear power stations years ago

They are interested in becoming carbon emission neutral in internationally agreed time-frames and they are making moves to that effect. They've also supplied a lot of infrastructure to sub-Saharan Africa for the same purpose. But you're right in that it's likely done in the name of quid pro quo than genuine altruism.

Fission plants should have been the order of the day a long time ago, agreed - now, along with renewables for smaller grids, will have to do.

I don’t know too much about it but the country that builds the first superconductor of use is going to be quids in.

Trump is obviously Putin pilled and fully compromised at this point and it’s just not going to end well for Ukraine. The justified anger is obviously at Putin and then Trump but I’m still disappointed in Biden’s lot. They had no credible plan except the idea that the war would sort it self.

Ukraine is either going to get a terrible deal over its head in the next month or two, or Trump just completely disengages and Russia slowly bleeds Ukraine until exhaustion. I don’t think there’s the appetite in this country and other European countries to intervene directly which would be the only way to stop Russia.

He doesn’t even try and hide it any more either he is a horrible horrible man. I think if other countries hadn’t come out in support of Ukraine after he acted like a big man baby in the meeting they had where him and Vance came out looking aweful then he would already have washed his hands with Ukraine
