I thought League 1 rules are based purely on payroll to turnover ratio. If that’s the case, isn’t this season a perfect opportunity to do what we’re doing and shift players out who cost big money?

Could someone correct me on this because there’s still a lot of talk about amortisation?

So if we go up this season our accounts for this season will be in the 3yr period. We can't just ignore the rules of the prem and the championship because we are not in those divisions.

Relegated sides are permitted to spend up to 65% of their turnover on wages during their first season in League One.

The Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP) limits a club's total expenditure on player and coaching staff wages, doesn't include amortisation.

Mostly played left wing for Morocco in the World Cup didn’t he?

Had a very good season at Stuttgart as an attacking mid

Only just turned 22 as well, exactly the kind of player you can see getting a bigger move very soon

I think he can still develop, can see him moving on to a bigger club, 43 international caps at 22 is some going.

Has a history of cause trouble to get a move at us and Genk so can can see him on the move.

He’s got a lot to his game, he’s obviously a bit of an arse but this thread doesn’t half look like sour grapes.

He treated us like shit mate. What do you want people to act like?

He's one of those players for me that looks great on the ball but has no end product. Genuinely thought Buonanotte was a far better player, both technically and in terms of outputs. El-Khannous is overrated in my opinion, and if Stuttgart manage to get a fee in the region being touted, then they've pulled off a blinder as he's not worth anywhere near that.

16 goals and assists in 28 nineties for Stuttgart

Bundesliga is not the EPL, so you need to factor this in when talking about goals.

In what way did he treat us like shit?

We were happy for him to force a move here as one of Europe's up and coming best youngsters.

We were utterly crap and got relegated.

He then played the first match while trying to force a move away.

I am struggling to see what he's done wrong tbh

Thought you'd done a little poem for me with the way you'd put this together.

Meh he spoke about us with contempt. I have no time for him. You do you.

Matter of perspectives I guess. 4 goals and 4 assists in 25 apps in Bundesliga.

Bundesliga:

25 appearances - 19 starts

1,635 minutes - 18.2 90s

4 goals and 5 assists

Goal contribution every 182 minutes

Europa League:

11 appearances - 7 starts

641 minutes - 7.1 90s

5 goals

Goal contribution every 128 minutes

Literally the kind of numbers a lot of the clubs with some proper money to spend will be seriously looking at, especially as he is an attacking player who gets stuck in on the defensive side as well

The kind of player that if we were actually in the Prem and being linked to that we would be really hoping we sign

Appearances only is a bit of a misnomer as the starts/nineties proves

We shouldn't care anymore. He's not our player so we move on.

Close thread

In fairness, it does still concern us. If Stuttgart sell him for a big fee, we benefit from the sell on clause.

Normal with a option or obligation the fee is set up front at the start of the loan.

The main benefits it will book profit in this season accounts.

On the face of it we have sold him largely for what we paid for him, however due to the way amortisation works it will show as a profit in this coming season accounts.

We brought him for roughly 20m, on a 4 year contact, two seasons later we have sold him. 10m of his original transfer fee would have been amortised in those two accounting periods leave 10m left.

So for this season account we will book a 20m income, vs a 10m book value, result in an accounting profit of 10m for this coming season accounting period

The terms of the agreement, namely obligation to buy, is an extremely important factor.

This transaction is not quite straight forward. First off the loan fee which is said to be €3.5m will definitely have been paid in the 25/26 year and not 26/27.

We then come to the reported fee which was €18.5 m . Bear in mind a chunk of the original reported cost namely  £20 m  will be training compensation paid by LCFC to the likes of Genk.

So it’s €15 m against the unamortised sum of circa £10 million or €11.6 m . Then we come into unknowns such as what signing on fee did he get, signing on fees are divided by the number of years . So if he was paid say €2 million then he would be entitled to €1 m on transfer.

If the transfer became permanent as stated by Stutgart on 25/5/26 then that will be in the 25/26 accounting year . Irrespective of the date for SCR the transfer is deemed to have been completed when the terms under the obligation to buy are met. Irrespective of when cash changes hands. Mad I know.

At some point in the not too distant future we will find out how the numbers look like but even though 26/27 won’t be in the Championship the club are bound by that leagues rules till all 25/26 conditions have been met.

EFL 1 SCR isn’t obviously the same as PSR so using a transfer profit in full  isn’t how football income is calculated for SCR purposes.

Just spent a happy half hour reading through the 26/27 regulations. .

The 65% thing is a given but what worried me was the reference to advancing the parachute payments. It’s back to that good old Aussie Bank. I  can’t read it any other way than if the club has borrowed the money in 25/26 monies due in 26/27 they it is discounted as income

Not entirely sure why there is a thread. However, as there is. He is a good player, better than people give him credit for and will end up at a top team. If our Albeit won’t be world class, he will be well above where we are going!

Aren't the champiomships financial rules changing to the same system as L1 though?
