One of our worst ever managers, the squad is poor we know that but he’s not helped it with his weird obsession of still starting Ayew & BDR. At least under Steve Cooper we were competing in games, under this clown we are just totally inept. We can’t score, we can’t defend he’s got zero tactical nous. He’s running Vardy into the ground persisting with him for 90 minutes every week.

If he had anything about him he’d hold his hands admit he’s done a terrible job and walk away. I’m just glad we didn’t appoint this fraud in the summer as if we did we’d be looking at beating Derbys points total with him in charge.

I agree entirely with that.

But I don't see how he's one of our major issues right now. Not only because I think no striker could thrive in this team at this moment, but also because the only real issue with Vardy is the failure to replace him, or at least offer an alternative. Maybe even a strike partner. None of that is his fault.

As for his influence, I think reports of his role in Ranieri's departure have been long-since discredited. He was also supposed to have been one of the few not to turn on Cooper. So it doesn't seem like he's a great problem in that regard.

There are plenty of other more glaring issues to address, in the short term at least, than Vardy.

Lack of Jan signings will surely indicate we can’t afford to sack another manager! Can see us binning him after end of June when psr resets and we are a week from pre season starting, be typical of the club at the minute to do something like that!

They, the club, the players, all of them, are all part of this problem - nobody gets a pass on this problem. History is not an excuse for poor performance now.

Not singling anybody out, not leaving anybody out, they all hold some of the blame.

Inherited a poor squad and got thrown under a bus with a lack of recruitment in January, but at the end of the day…

We can’t defend

We can’t score

One dimensional formation

Obsessed with starting Ayew and Reid

Those four things are the perfect recipe for the sack.

With the situation we find ourselves in, Ruud just isn’t equipped for that kind of situation. We need a defensive organiser, we need someone who can make us difficult to beat.

What we need is a Dyche type, but you just don’t want a Dyche type for the longer term.

We should just forget about this season. It’s done. There’s no point in trying to recruit a new manager now when the options are so limited. Dyche would not keep us up this season then we’d be lumped with him next season before he inevitably got sacked in October/November. Hopefully there is a clause in RVN’s contract that allows us to dismiss him at little cost in the event of relegation. Then we can cast the net and hopefully land somebody decent.

I take your point entirely but, for example, I can't hold Bilal to be as responsible for our plight as I would Wout Faes. Within that steaming shite-strewn stew we've been served up, I'd consider Vardy to be a manky string of carrot rather than a resplendent floating turd like, say, Soumare or Winks. If that makes sense.

Yup, also fair points, although the manky carrot string for Vardy paints a upsetting yet somehow apt image!

I think the difference is, we were at least scoring under Cooper.

Under RVN, we’ve stopped doing that.

One of the things they say in football is you can get the habit of losing, and it's tough to turn it around when confidence is low.

So.dont you think RVN had a tougher task than Cooper, and it's not really fair to compare like 4 like, as when RVN took over, the players were already low on confidence.

It's actually going worse than that. And it's obviously going to continue. It would've been today if we were going to sack him.

As a fan I’d happily forget about this season, but will the board want to operate in such manner, I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but we’re in Dean Smith type territory again. You either go down that same route again, or you sack RVN and just give it Barry-Murphy until the end of the season.

But what’s the long term vision at this club? We get relegated and turn to another possession heavy manager like Russell Martin just because it worked last time?

I fear that we’ll just become a yo-yo club again, or end up like Norwich and Watford are currently.

How were they low on confidence?

17th position

4 points in first 2 games

he has drained the confidence

We were doggo every game, none of the games we got points did we look the better team, that’s why Cooper got sacked, we lost key players to add to that, the players aren’t stupid, they’ll know they’re doggo, unless you’re Wout Faes.

Funnily enough Neville said on Sky in November he was surprised Ruud was a manager.

I am surprised he’s not been sacked yet, effectively 6 points adrift of Wolves..  just get him gone and plan for the championship.

Plan what with whom? That would require a director of Football who had some semblance of a plan, a strategy, a style, a development and succession plan.

Needs a Bielsa or Pearson type in a senior, permanent position above the manager.

Someone with extensive experience, a complete philosophy and an obsessive approach to the details.

Rudkin doesn't have the experience and it's shown since 2018. Too much licence given to managers.

Brendan was anointed and given a golden ball and chain bolted to the supporting pillars of our finances. The club put its faith in the wrong man.

Unfortunately the board has dug a moat around itself and doesn't look likely to let anybody in to see what exactly is going on inside the castle.

Love this post, I'll wager you're a massive game of thrones fan!

Bet you 10p you can't legitimately mention a dragon in your next post.

20p if you can get in "Trebuchet". 😐

Mate they were not thinking they were playing to qualify for Europe.

The remit was safety, let’s just say they had a lot more confidence early November, than they do getting trounced week in week out not scoring.

It’s just another excuse, like we were missing Ndidi and Mads
