People said the same about Moyes, Nuno, and various others. He can’t be any worse than what we’ll end up with.

Yeh I remember people turning their noses up at Nuno on here lol

Juric was seen as a stop gap for Southampton, Rohl is the manager they are waiting for and can get him in the summer cheaper.

If he was a stop gap why give him an 18 month deal? And why can they get Rohl cheaper in summer? His buyout is still 5m surely?

How is paying off Juric and paying him premier league wages going to save them money vs just paying the 5m for Rohl months ago?

Juric has also brought in coaches with him

A lot of clamour for Carrick in the summer, he's done an ok job with Boro without really threatening promotion. Possibly could make the step up with increased budget and playing staff. Fits the profile the club like, other than being in a current job.

I'd actually take a gamble on Cifuentes at QPR if Rohl can't be got.

Think he's done a fairly good job with a QPR club that is cost cutting, would expect him to do well with the type of squad we "should" be able to provide for him next season.

Been impressed with him also, would be a good appointment imo.

Unfortunately they won't go for someone like that they'll probably try and get another big name and fail spectacularly again. Wouldn't trust any of these clowns with our next appointment.

I can't see him wanting to step down to the championship, but if Urs Fischer is willing to come having left Union Berlin 14 months ago, he should be a top top priority, proven builder.

Not sure there will be an increased budget tbh

All depends who's in charge of the appointment really. Top gets dazzled by name or status, such as Ruud or Maresca (he really just wanted a mini pep).

If it's rudkin it will be the most obvious appointment like we saw with Rodgers and Cooper.

I don't trust either of them

Guessing it's cheaper to get rid once we're down

Bar those worth something, pay up the contracts then all aboard the f off bus. Take the hit for whatever that means ffp wise, start again wherever that leaves us. Give the kids a go alongside a Huth type character and the odd one worth keeping (Fatawu). As for managers, I'd take anyone who appears to give a sh1t on the touchline.

Worst Leicester team ever? You need to be a bloody team to be the worst

Rohl's release clause is apparently £4m to a PL club or £2m to a Championship club.

Honestly, I'd pay the £4m now. He will have a LOT of competition in the summer, i'd rather pay the £2m extra and get it over the line, £2m is not a lot of money in todays market, we are probably going to spend 5x that on a midfielder who turns out to be garbage.

Carrick is another Martin tbqh.  The football looking pretty is more important than the results it generates.

We need to move away from this direction. Boro have dropped so many points simply by messing around with the ball in their own box.

We need someone that can be successful at scrapping in the premier league, because what’s the point in getting promoted if we will just crash and burn again because we will not be able to sustain the play style.

Didn’t work for burnley, didn’t work for Ipswich ( for different reasons) but the teams that survive tend to adapt and with the gap as large as it is right now, you simply need a pragmatic manager to have a chance.

Doesn’t mean you need to be negative but just understand that you preferred philosophy isn’t going to work against top sides and you have to build towards it. That’s why someone like rohl is my preference as he’s already proven he can operate at the bottom of a table so let’s see how he can do with a team towards the top.

Where do you think  the competition would come from? There won’t be prem teams looking. Nobody looks likely to sack at this point other than perhaps spurs (who won’t go for him).

We will be the most attractive club you’d think (unless clubs abroad consider him).

We created a financial mess for ourselves, so suggesting wasting money for a lost cause and creating downward momentum,  doesn’t make sense for me if the release clauses are correct.

We signed six players last summer and one in January. Of those seven players, only one - BEK - was deemed good enough to start last night despite all of them apparently being fit. The most of expensive of those acquisitions, Oliver Skipp, did not even make the 20-man matchday squad. This is an utterly shambolic state of affairs - no newly-promoted club can hope to survive with a recruitment strategy as disastrous as this. If the penny doesn't now drop that we desperately need a proper Director of Football, it never will while KP are here. However, I have a hunch the penny will have dropped and that we will see a new DoF before next season.

That’s optimistic of you. I think Top’s head is firmly in the clouds. More like the attitude of a neutral fan… of course we’re getting relegated this season, what did we expect.

I don’t think we’ll be hearing anything this season from him. There won’t be an inquest and they will naively assume we will just get promoted again without any real challenge

Well the main rumour is Southampton want him, and they will be a better prospect for him in summer than we will IMO, I wouldn't be surprised if clubs abroad take a look at him.
I don't think £4m to secure a manager is a waste of money, sure, if there is a very real possibility we are the only club who approach him in the summer then we should wait and pay the £2m, but I think with the job he's done there, he will probably get some decent offers.
I will say though, I actually think we are a very good prospect as a club even with all of the issues, we have fantastic facilities, some great young players coming through, and many players who can compete at Championship level as proven last season, we will also likely have some money coming in for players like Bilal and Mads, whilst getting big earners off the books in Vardy/Ward etc.

I hope you are correct regarding the penny dropping but I wouldn’t put my money on it.

Fair enough, even so, I don’t think approaching now changes the situation. If he’d prefer Southampton he would be happy to wait.  I don’t think he will want to add a relegation to his CV for the sake of it.

A few games back, maybe as he may have backed himself to have a go at it. But with our fixtures and point gap, it’s a forgone conclusion.  There are more illogical fans then logical ones and even though on paper you can say he’s coming into prepare for next season there will be people who judge him for what happens between now and the end of the season and it won’t be pretty.
