They are and they aren't, that's the thing. We are like twins in a way. One quiet one, one loud one..

They have this insane belief that their club is one of the big 6 and their city is one of the seven wonders if the world. On the basis the shopping, music scene and food scene is, like, a bit better than Leicester. It's better, but hardly a qualification to take on New York, Milan and Tokyo..

Whereas Leicester people are the polar opposite. Relentlessly, unforgivingly, unashamedly negative. We live in the worst city in the world..our club shouybe in the championship. Our lives are misery..

Funny how two cities so similar have a totally different outlook on life.

Far more in common between Leicester and Nottingham than their is between either city and Derby which is essentially just a large railway town

Agree. Derby has become essentially a suburb of Nottingham, which is what possibly makes the difference of Nottingham and Leicester. We haven't got a town of 250k next to us eager to shop and drink every weekend. There are fleets of busses and trains 24/7 shovelling derby punters in

Tbf Derby is actually surprisingly decent for shopping and has a good pub scene but you are correct

Its the towns in between too that make the difference, Long Eaton, Ilkeston, Heanor etc

Leicester metro area doesn’t have the same density

Went to Derby last year for a gig. It's the only time I've been apart from for matches at  Pride Park and I've got to say, I was impressed with how nice the city centre is, especially round the council building area. Much better than either Leicester or Nottingham city centres.

Also find their whole dont care thing is ironic. People from Nottingham as a city, and Forest as a club, crave a national identity similar to the likes of Liverpool or Newcastle as clubs and cities when reality no-one outside the East Midlands gives a flying fvck about them

‘Rebel City’ - they have embraced about Robin Hood. The fooking irony given they were scabs during the Miners Strike

We don’t nearly have enough pride in our club and city especially considering what we’ve won. They do.

It helps when the media serves it up on a silver platter for you. They are the definition of media darlings, along with Spurs. If you’re repeatedly given the narrative that you’re one of the big clubs, it’s easier to believe it - even if there is nothing tangible to back it up with.

Robin Hood was from Sheffield, so I don’t know why they keep banging on about him.

Plus wasn't the whole point of the story that Nottingham was an overcrowded, crime-ridden shithole with unaffordable rents run by a corrupt Sheriff?

Exactly. Why do they think you can go to Timbuktu and people have heard of Robin Hood anyways? It's obscure. At best known throughout the US and UK.

Elephant Man is much more famous. And real. And made church models out of matchsticks. Basically Leicester's Lowry.

It's just Hollywood fiction. The Americans love it.

We have the real deal in Richard III.

It’s like all city’s, good and bad bits. Derby is my closest city and it’s ok. But not far from where you mentioned it’s pretty ropey.

for me Nottingham is a far better city for a night out than derby. Used to love a night in Leicester but not done it for so long.

Odds are against us but frankly, this lot owe us a performance after this utter shit show of a season.

I'll accept a draw given the damage it would do to them. However, win.

Hmm maybe but our fanbase is largely small time. Look at the way they sing their anthem, when you’re smiling comes on and people are more arsed about looking at their phones. They unfortunately have a big club mentality as a fanbase and ours is way off it.

They are still on a giddy high with this very recent success. See what it's like when they revert back to their natural position in the next few seasons.

He died nearby and his body was found here, but he's hardly one of our own.

Daniel Lambert and Joseph Merrick are ours.  That's the Leicester gene pool for you.
