Now that we have lost our iconic legend, I started thinking about players who were particular crowd favourites during my time of following The City. From 1966, Banks, Gibson, Dougan, Glover, Large,  Wortho, Weller, Lineker, Gary Mac, Walshie, Muzzy, Fryatt, Knocky, all of the Champions, but particularly Vardy, Fuchs, Huth,  Albrighton and Morgan. Probably missed others’ favourites but these are mine.

As a kid Banks, Shilton, Dougan, Sinclair, Stringfellow. Bit later Wallington, Worthington, Weller, Glover. Later again Lineker. Walsh, Izzet, Heskey, Elliott, Claridge. All the Champions and Cup Winners.

Andy Lochhead, Weller, Peter Weir, Walsh, Matt Elliott, Gary Mac, Rooster Russell, Izzet, Lennon

I suppose Norman Leet was a cult hero

The late Kevin Campbell was only here a few months but became extremely popular and did a lap of honour to a standing ovation after his final game.

I'd throw Ricardo in there. He's struggled with injuries but I feel he's always been a fans favourite. He's one of very few in the current squad that i actually like.

I love him. At his best I think he was one of the best full backs in the league, if not the world. If I remember correctly there was a run under Puel where he played three different positions in as many games and was our best player in all of them. I also remember the match thread when he made his debut and, presumably because they'd become used to Simpson being so conservative, some people were absolutely bewildered by how attacking and positive he was.

Izzet then Dickov were my first heroes as a kid, though my earliest memories are of Gran banging the tea tray every time 'her little Cottee' scored.

In order for me in 'my era' Super Stevie Howard, Waghorn, Nuge, Kingy, Wasilewski, Vardy and Albrighton.

Of the current crop left, it's only really Ricky P I could make a case for. Squad's rotten. :dunno:

Never really been one to idolise individual players......the only one i ever did was Tommy Wright, in my first couple of seasons of going down the city in my early teens. Looking back he wasnt a world beater but he was my favourite and i thought he was something else in that 91/92 blackburn play off season....so much so that i was telling anyone who would listen he should be given a chance on the left wing for England........until someone said "hes scottish you daft tw@t" 😂

Stevie Howard's goal against Leeds was great. Remember it being the only time I've cheered as loud as I possibly could but couldn't even hear myself over the noise of everyone else it was a weird feeling.
