Rosella Ayana signed from Spurs. Described as a forward. 76 games 3 goals?

A lot of those 76 would have been sub appearances I think, but even so.

Ayane is a classic example of an England youth international who has never really kicked on in the senior game.  Plenty of opportunities but not much result.  It wasn’t a surprise when Spurs released her.  Positive spin would be it’s another attacking player to protect against an injury crisis like last season.

when half a million is in the top 10 largest fees in the world, it wouldn't even have taken significant amounts of money, literally a fraction of the amount they've set on fire with the mens team. Like, if that rumoured wage for Ryan Bertrand is real, we spent 12.48m on wages for him to play 4 times. that could assemble a champions league level team with money to spare in the women's game

And at a time when the women's game is at its peak in popularity. A Champions League standard WSL Leicester City side could get to the point where they fill the stadium as happens with clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham, helping considerably with the finances and profile.

Again, doesn’t improve the team based on what you’ve said, personally never heard of her, agree it adds an option in an injury crisis.

It would have taken even less to do that when they were first promoted and there was still a positive feel around the club as a whole.  A massive missed opportunity.

I remember Emile Heskey appearing on Sky at the start of that season and saying that Leicester weren’t there to make up the numbers.  Turns out they were.

1 goals and 4 assists in 13 starts the last time she was actually playing a decent amount of minutes in 22/23

I saw her play as a youngster for Chelsea and her name stuck in my head so I’ve been aware of her for a while and she’s one of those players you want to be better than they are.  She certainly isn’t a bad player but I’m not convinced she’s what Leicester need.   Rantala aside I’m not convinced by any of Leicester’s attacking players though and I’d be very happy for Ayane to prove me wrong.  Or any of the others for that matter!

Well I'm no more confident we won't finish bottom of the WSL. But I am more confident we'll obliterate whoever we play from WSL2 in the promotion/relegation playoff.

World record fee as well

Newly promoted side thats not even tied to a men's club is capable of spending big (relative to the women's game) and breaking the world record fee.

Meanwhile, at Leicester...

What’s she getting into & what are they getting for the record fee?

You would imagine she’s getting a top up on what was probably a decent wedge at PSG but surely it’s not huge amount on top & probably not a big jump to say going to Chelsea. Then what’s her motive (away from cash) LCL are not a threat to the top 3 or 4 so their expectations must be to remain for the foreseeable future & building on that, yet she’s 28 will she see a title challenge just an odd move for her, especially if she’s rated at that fee.

Then for the club, they have paid a record fee yet she’s not a name stacked with personnel honours nor a name so big in woman’s football that it goes down as a jaw dropping signing, it’s the fee that does that??

They have a top 5 squad at least.  They might not hit the ground running with all the new signings but they will be up there and will only get better and better in the future.  Champions League qualification is unlikely but not impossible this year.  Geyoro is definitely a big name in women’s football. Her signing also weakens PSG which is good news for Lyon, another of Michele Kang’s teams.  Geyoro gets to play in the strongest league in the world for a progressive club.  It’s a win all round for LCL, Kang and Geyoro.

I genuinely think a number of players are excited about disrupting the system with LCL. The way the women's game has aped the mens game is depressing for something which so is fresh and at the core of it still pure.

I think there is a clear advantage for those teams that aren't getting a full backing by their parent clubs to just be independent & separate entities.

If im not wrong, I believe Everton is one of those turning it around, once not backed by the club, but the new owners have come in and "sold" the club to a subsidiary, but puts money into the club in the form of investments, but still allows them to make independent decisions.

It might not be Everton I'm thinking of, so dont hold me to that too much.

Side note - does anyone know if the WSL games are still going to be shown on YouTube?

I believe it was a case that any games that werent televised were on YouTube, but haven't Sky got the rights to all the games now? Or am I mistaken?

All WSL1 on Sky or BBC with a few of those also on YouTube - none there this weekend according to the website I use (live-footballontv.com).  Two games next weekend are on YT, including Leicester v Liverpool, with both also on Sky.

Im not expecting much at all in terms of a result for tomorrow.

We know we've not got enough quality in the team to compete with Man U, which is a shame, as though we don't have a great win-rate over them, we've competed well most of the time.

I really would just like to see us be really well defensively organised, be hard to break down or beat. Give us a foundation to build on, similarly as to what we did last season, had one of the best defences in the league up until Christmas.

We shouldn't be aiming to match what we did last season (obviously we want to improve), but it does feel like a season the we just have to get through unscathed, if we can.

The home form will be key, I don’t see them doing much on the road again, in fact I’d go as far as saying they could duplicate last season and go without a win on their travels.

The 7 month gap between Pearce and Billiard will have repercussions, late with everything, signing players, sacking managers, securing better deals to retain players, then it’s compounded by selling Mace. I do feel that the next window will see some movement, probably the likes of Chossonotte linking back up with Miquel if she gets back into work.

Zero ambition from the club though, it’s almost a free pass to stay in the WSL this season, just win that play off.

Going to try and watch a bit more of the women this year, instead of just checking their scores every couple of weeks. I don't recognise many of the united players
