Watched the second half of the chesterfield game tonight. Very impressed by Braybrooke. Didn't see him give the ball away, always knows where his pass is going next, one step ahead. It's league two, but he looks class.

Not sure I can say the same for the first half of Alves games for Huddersfield. Looks very short of confidence and I'm not sure he know what he was supposed to be doing.

Second half Alves was more involved and was picking it up centrally. Nothing extraordinary but some bright moments.

Huddersfield look terrible under Manning. Zero shots in target in two games. I think any flair players will struggle in this side.

Imagine watching a player that was pure joy, Rudkin will soon get rid of that nonsense

I love Wout Faes playing Champions League football against PSG being the footnote. As it should be.

They moved him to a number 10 for the final 30 mins. He was brilliant. Should of had at least one assist. Found space, great on the ball. Passing was excellent

He’s been fantastic all season. Seems like he’s getting better every game as well. Happy for him

So so pleased for Sammy. You love to see it.

Things you also love to see: Faes conceding a pen for someone that isn't us :sweating: (although not sure his audition at Monaco is going all that well, sadly).

Opoku on 5 goals 2 assist in 19 games for Newport. He’s their top scorer.

It’s not unbelievable but not bad going in a side bottom of League 2

Unlikely he's going it here, he's 24, not sure how long he has left on his contract.

Best we can do is probably hope we can get a small fee from someone.

His bad leg break was a real set back.

Celebrating Faes bad performance is very short sighted we need to sell him for a decent fee.

I know, I'm not being serious about it. It's bittersweet, at best.

French media are having a field day

The Canal+ commentator apparently kept calling him "Fesse" ("buttock") instead of Faes, and Sofoot rated his performance at 3/10 with the caption "His head in his surname" (i.e. up his arse) 😂

Funny until you realise he will be coming back next year and drawing his £50k per week salary in League 1...

‘Tricks And Flicks’ – Talents Of Star On Loan From Leicester City Impress Assistant

18/02/2026

San Saha

Chesterfield assistant Danny Webb has lauded Leicester City loan star Sammy Braybrooke for his brilliant all-round game, stressing that he is impressing the fans by giving his all.

The Leicester-born central midfielder came through the Foxes’ academy and made the senior side’s bench a few times back in 2022, when the club were in the Premier League.

Braybrooke represented England at different youth levels, most recently playing for the young Lions’ Under-20 setup.

Highly rated, Braybrooke snubbed interest from Germany to sign a professional deal with the Foxes.

The young midfielder made his Leicester debut four years ago in an EFL Cup clash against Newport County and that has been his only senior appearance so far.

The Foxes loaned Braybrooke out to Dundee and Newport County before League Two club Chesterfield loaned him in the recently concluded winter transfer window.

He caught former EFL winger Adrian Clarke’s eye during his Exiles loan spell, and was hailed for his pedigree as a player with quality.

The 21-year-old has hit the ground running at the Spireites, as he has started seven league games already for Paul Cook’s side since his arrival.

Sammy Braybrooke’s career history

Chesterfield assistant Webb hailed Braybrooke for his technicality on the ball, praising his eagerness to ask for the ball in tight situations with bravery.

He insisted that the Foxes’ loan star is never afraid to go all in for a duel, which he believes is pleasing the fans and the staff at the moment.

“I don’t know if he captained England Under-17s, but if he did, that is really good”, Webb said to Chesterfield’s media (4:14) when he was told that Braybrooke captained the young Lions.

“No, listen, what is pleasing all the staff and us and probably the supporters is that he does little tricks and flicks and breaks away.

“And then fantastic passes across the pitch, and he asks for the ball in areas where other players don’t want it.

“And when there is a 50-50, he goes in for it.

“That is what the supporters want to see, they want to see players who give their all.”

Braybrooke has been rated as a top talent and he will be eager to make a case for a chance at Leicester over the summer on the back of his Chesterfield loan stint.

Braybrooke apparently not ready for our first team but Louis Page is. Makes no sense.

I suspect Braybrooke probably is ready but after an ACL injury and barely playing last season he needed a full season playing.

Also helps he’s away from our toxic environment

Like everyone else he'll return and be infected with the bozo gene as soon as he starts training with this lot. There was so much hype for Nelson and whilst he might be a good CB in the future, hasn't show a great deal in this set up with the rest of the jokers. It affects them all!

Wait until you see Page at 21

Also if you’ve watched the progress of our youth team you’ll know the likes of Alves and Braybrooke had big ACL injuries and at their age they were desperate for regular consistent games. Braybrooke within one year has shown at two clubs where his levels are. Page is developing by being in and around the first team, which sadly the likes of Braybrooke missed out on.

They'll both be essential next year.
