On the subject of good players having one moment of aberration ...

Ian Wilson was an excellent midfielder for us in the early 80's.   Unfortunately he had one truly horrendous "I want the Earth to eat me up" moment, in as big a match as they come ... the 1982 FA Cup Semi Final at Villa Park.     Cover your eyes from 50s into the video.

(the only consolation being that at 1-0 down already, we were probably going to lose anyway.  But the og made certain!)

Was just going to say, Chilwell against Chelsea just before he signed for them, disgraceful pretty much cost us Champions League who inevitably won it in the end and then just scooped up 130m from the World Club Cup win.. butterfly effect.

Perez against Chelsea just after we beat them in the cup final is another one. He had so many horrific games for us where he was the weak link, but that one stands out for missing the absolute sitter in the last minute which cost us the Champions League place.

Also Nathan Dyer had a really good start with us but there was a home match where he kept kicking it straight out of play, after that we didn’t really see him until he was front and centre for the trophy lift 😆

Musa and Kane stick out as having some of the most anger-inducing performances for us but I can’t remember which games. Kane because he was so lazy on top of being poor and Musa just because he was so embarrassingly bad on a technical level.

Ward vs Wolves - unbelievable that being a Goalkeeper is his profession and how he earns a ridiculously luxurious wage doing so.

One that stands out for me is Faes at Anfield with the two OG's though.

Faes two own goals was on his debut as well. Bought in to replace Fofana who ****ed off to Chelsea as soon as his broken leg was healed.

Chilwell's refusal to take a throw in at Millwall always annoyed me.   Showed a shameful lack of appetite and desire in that one moment.

I especially hated the "he had a hurt shoulder" crowd.

No he didn't. I was there. They were saying mean things and he didn't like it.

They said mean things to Fuchs too but for some reason he got on with it.

The whole team in the last 2 minutes of Leicester 2 - 3 Spurs in 2022 but primarily Tielemans. Worst pass in history.

That was the game where we were 2-1 up with 30 seconds to go and contrived to lose it 3-2

Peter Gilbert away at Crewe in 2005. Finished 2-2 but he looked like he’d never seen a football before. We got him from Plymouth that summer and he only played about 2 more times and tbf to Craig levein he admitted he was wrong for buying him. One of the worst players I’ve ever seen play for us.

The Bournemouth game at home in 22/23 where we had dumb and dumber in charge and couldn't string two passes together. Probably the easiest game they'll ever play. It's like we'd forgotten how to play football! God knows what they did in training that week

Sorry - misread the "player" in the title but we may as well have had none that day

It wasn't.

Wasn't it 5 seconds to go?

One that comes to mind but the player also deserves praise for the comeback. Paddy Kisnorbo against Cardiff at home - I think it was 2-1 to them but he was horrendous. Got booed off if I remember rightly. Was certain we would never see him again. We did, at CB and he was very decent.

A bit of a niche one, but my first time living away from home was in Suffolk in 1996, so Ipswich away was a massive game for me:

(For some context, MON had been manager just over 2 months & the infamous Sheffield United home game would be a month later)

(For additional context, I thought Ian Marshall was a complete pillock flouncing around in his long hair. What a difference a hair cut can make!)

To be fair, the whole team was pretty awful in that first half, but Neil Lewis was given an absolutely torrid time. Turned inside out time after time by Gus Uhlenbeek. See 1:05 of the video where Uhlenneek is just taking the p**s and strolls all the way round Lewis to pick the ball up the other side so set up their 3rd.

MON wasn't against singling him out though as hoicked him off - and then what really put his performance into perspective was that Emile Heskey came on for him and then proceeded to made Uhlenbeek look like the rank amateur he was by dominating that side of the pitch as we recovered from 3-0 down & nearly salvaged something. Uhlenbeek looked like he wanted to give up football at the end of the game, so it was really some performance from Lewis to have made him look like a world beater.

Yes - I'd forgotten that was his debut.

Hadn't heard the story about the shorts on the wrong way round though! Shame that footage is too grainy...

Remember the day clearly. Was live on tv. My mum chucked her cup of tea across the room in anger after we went 3-0 down.

Without a doubt, Zoumana Bakayogo in the Leage Cup circa 2014. My memory fails me as to who the opposition were, anyone remember this game?

I believe it was his one and only appearance.

Just remember me and my dad in hysterics and not believing this guy was a professional footballer.
