Faes was crap and clearly didn't want to be here, unfortunately with how shit the club has been run as well, Nelson is most likely to help us out with adhering to financial rules.

Maybe, but at present Nelson is crapper IMO and has zero chance of going to the world Cup unlike Faes.

I support Leicester not individual players.

Since Nelson and Okoli have started in defence from January onwards we've become even shitter and hit new lows of mental fragility.

Players fall out with fans all the time.

The biggest issue the club has had is resigning Vesty when he wasnt good enough for what we needed last year, and not offloading Wout when he clearly wanted out and the fans lost patience with him.

There were plenty of good options out there, and many better options than Caleb Okoli. Nelson should be part of a CB team, not the one we were pinning all our hopes on. The fact that he is now the no1 choice and has to fill in for Okoli's short comings is scandalous.

Thought Nelson had been pretty good until Saturday.

Maybe Rowett will now feel like he can play Lascelles, but he ought to play him alongside Nelson not instead of him.

Still feel sick that I made a 300 mile round trip to watch that on Saturday. If he picks Ayew this Saturday I'm staying in the pub.

How many games has Nelson played at centre half alongside an experienced partner though?

Yes, our fans have made scapegoats of Faes, Vesty, Winks and a few others because of the failure of the ownership, relegation and the ineptitude of RvN.

They've all been frozen out at various stages this season and  a desire  to 'chuck the kids' in, but the team has suffered.

The academy players have all regressed IMO and the team, including the senior players have lost all confidence.

The first team has been totally mis-managed to comply with PSR, forcing players out, not recruiting a proper striker and as a result we're going to be relegated to league 1 and financial oblivion, far worse than a 6 point deduction.

Vestergaard:
Middlesbrough - 1-1

Derby - 3-1

Bristol City - 2-2

Ipswich - 3-1

QPR - 1-4

Lascelles:

Birmingham - 1-2

All other games have been Okoli

I'd be surprised if Rowett doesn't go for the experience of Vestergaard and Lascelles for the rest of the season now.

*for the 2 games they are probably fit enough to actually play together

I will be amazed if Lascelles is even able to play half of the games we have left

QPR collapse apart, that run with Vestergaard and Nelson coincides with as good as we have been all season really. Lascelles hopefully will contribute but the early appearances haven’t been positive.

Is Vesty close to return? Could be vital for us in these last 8 games. Also when does his contract run out? 😂

Do you think Vestergaard can play the high line and the offside trap that we have been playing?

Even more annoying is it doesn’t matter the player, the results, application and mistakes are the same. There is no difference between Hamza, Thomas and Ricardo or the cbs.

coaches/manager insist on playing out from the back when they are just not very good at it. Okoli can’t pass yet the players are happy to put him under pressure and expect something other than a misplaced place. Zonal marking hasn’t worked since BR yet they haven’t changed it up.

There was a point when 3-1 down and the defence walked to the halfway line but no one wanted to make a forward pass. Nelson and Thomas back and forth, the crowd booed and then Thomas makes a pass. Hamza constantly stood still to make a pass and invite a press which was usually to Skipp to pass back or Okoli who would lose playing wallie on his own.

What do we do then go with the same 2 Okoli is a car crash of a defender I get Faes vibes from him. One thing you do get with Vestergaard is his calmness on the ball and sorting out the back line. If it was me I’d drop both of them and bring in Lascelles also

He perhaps shouldn't need help, if he's as good as we'd hoped, but he would benefit from having a commanding goalkeeper and a decent centre back alongside him. If Coady could've matched his ability with his mouth I think he'd have been ok alongside Nelson.

Nelson is another example of how this environment of negativity has impacted confidence.

From what I remember, Nelson looked good next to Vestergaard.  He was just doing the basics of mopping up and getting rid of the ball quickly into midfield.  Once he took over from JV he started to play like him with the useless tactics they insist on playing. It’s been downhill since especially with Okoli next to him.

Have we really been playing a high line though?

QPR were offside once and Bristol were offside twice.

Yes we have. I'm not saying its the right tactic but its how weve been setting up with Nelson / Okoli. Vestergaard wont be able to play it.

I've watched the last two home games in person and we absolutely were not playing a high line.

Don't play a high line then? If we have been playing a high line like you said, it clearly hasn't worked given the amount of goals we've shipped.

Whilst the keeper should’ve shouted that doesn’t excuse Nelson for a terrible slide and OG. I like the lad but he had a terrible game. He needs an experienced head next to him. I’d probably still start him in the next game but with Lascelles alongside. Both Okoli and Nelson are deputy centre backs, not leaders. Lascelles can lead and I’d play Nelson beside him because he’s way better on the ball than Okoli.

Yeah he didn’t have a great game, but trying to stop that cross was necessary because the keeper didn’t tell him it wasn’t … Jacob easily had that covered and a simple shout erases the danger.

Nelson was never going to play well after that!
