Daka a seasoned professional, Alves hasn't managed a season worth of minutes in his career.

 

Alves will improve.

It was harder than given credit for. Very long curling ball from Braybrooke and Alves had to take it first time before it hit the ground. He just mistimed his footing and didn’t get the angle of his foot right. Just a little lower and he takes that. He’ll learn to deal with that better. 
 

Not sure I’ve ever seen Daka take those for us, and last time I checked Alves didnt cost us £23m

But we need to be honest in feedback...

He should of scored

He's been one of our best players this season but he will need to score 10-15 goals if we have any chance of promotion, because apart from Riis and Cullen I'm not sure who else scores.

More than any other winger playing for us. But lets diss Alves.

 

Its 1 goal 1 assist. It should have been more, certainly more assists.

 

But he continues to work hard, has pace and all the components you need and looks dangerous. He will create more opportunities than his goals and assist stats will show as well.

Love him, the game and our chances of winning died when he was inexplicably moved from the wing to the 10 and then 8.

Obviously should’ve scored. Perhaps he didn’t expect the ball to actually reach him but bad miss  
 

I’ve been impressed with him, he’s just how you’d expect a young winger with barely any experience to play. Still raw and hopefully his decision making will improve although he put it on a plate for Cullen

That was part of Martin genius plan to play 4 wingers on the pitch, plus Bobby.  The no 10 we got on loan from Brighton nowhere to be seen.

 

I presume long term the thought is Alves' creativity lends itself to the 10 role, but its hard to just ask a young player to switch over and expect immediate results.

Braybrooke played a great floated ball into the box and missed everyone and fell to Alves but it looked like he completely scuffed it

First part is a bit extreme. Was a difficult chance in terms of the angle he needed to get to but that doesn't mean it wasn't a great chance for a professional, and that he shouldn't have scored.

Probably his worst game on Sat and he still created multiple chances. He's a breath of fresh air because his first thought is to go forward. I can see him not getting great numbers but he'll be a constant threat which means other people get the rewards for his endeavour, and importantly, he'll stretch the pitch for us in ways nobody else can.

I wasn't dissing him either, I said he's been one of our best players, but promotion is the target and he needs to start scoring. 

 

Riis will need to score 20, Cullen hopefully gets 10, along with Alves as the starters,  Chaplin hopefully gets fit. 

 

I just don't see where the goals come from in a RM team. Braybrooke gets himself in scoring positions but never looks like scoring.

Good player, but with our ambitions this season we need players like him to step up and be scoring 15 a season. Hope he can do that, because I doubt any of the others can.

The thing with Alves, and the position he plays, he's not really had anyone to assist..

 

Between BDR & Bristric, we've essentially played without a striker.

 

We have actually got a striker in Riis, and despite him only having played twice for us, Alves has already got 1 assist with him.

 

The more Riis settles in and picks up form, the more i see Alves being his main source of goals. Alves has got a cracking delivery on him, and Riis is a good finisher who also has aerial ability.

His crossing has actually really impressed me, though that was poor on Saturday for the first time.

 

But yes, hard to get your numbers up in this set up as we're just relying on individual quality to do the work for us. Just think that if he doesn't get great numbers but continues as he has this season, he'll have had nothing but an excellent campaign, the stats just might not back that up.

Unlikely in youth football he wasn't know for scoring a lot of goals. 

 

Think he will do well to get near 10.

Alves was the only real creator on Saturday, linked up with Thomas for the goal, created a chance for Riis, but it was a little behind him and then the Cullen chance that he missed. 

 

The only other chances we created from memory are the Alves miss off Braybrooke and Braybrooke's header off Riis. 

 

BDR was very wasteful in some of the earlier games, but we just don't create enough under Martin.

True, but i thought we were slightly more direct and attacking Vs Barnsley, and we did create plenty of chances.

 

For me, poor finishing cost us those 2 points.

We were 1-0 up against 10 men, we didn’t need to score again just controlling the game without playing into danger or inviting pressure would have been fine - theoretically possession football should do that but Martin’s coaching creates perilous situations which invite pressure
