I know ability comes into it but the biggest thing I fear this season is...

And not just the case of not trying, but also trudging around in a giant sulk like Winks. Don't care about the theatrics in the background, they still should be professional enough to do their job and play for the badge that is paying their weekly salary!

I don't care if people don't play for the fans, I don't care if they dont play for the badge, who really cares about their company? But I would expect people to give 100% every single game for their own self respect and their future careers. Anybody who doesn't and takes the game for granted is psychologically flawed and will regret it when they look back on their career.

Page's energy in the middle is exactly what we have been missing, covers ground.. can press, comfortable on the ball, can score all Skip and Soumare do is pass sideways and get out run, Soumare hasn't looked that bad but still not doing enough, gets caught in possession and offers nowt going forward apart from the odd run

I'd rather we play with 10 men, then have Soumare in the team.

Like I said in the Hudds match thread, if you're a player, you know that the fans already hate you or will turn on you if you do something that is subjectively 'wrong'. I hate to say it, but I don't think we have the most supportive group of fans and if I was one of our players, I honestly think I'd find it a fairly difficult and toxic environment to play in.

You'd be alright.....going home and wiping your tears away with £50 notes

That's why its a toxic environment.

Players should ignore social media and forums though.

Saying that they did get booed off at HT in the first game of the season under a new manager.

Players should take pay cuts and join other football clubs if they don't care anymore at the one they're at.

Kinda proving my point... Yeah, they get paid insanely well, too well, as all footballers are, but they're still human beings at the end of the day.

Yes and if they don't want to play for us anymore they need to leave....simple

While Page would be a good option in midfield, you simply cannot expect him to hold down that place over Soumare over the whole season.

Hopefully we buy a decent CM that does have more of a presence and physical aspect to his game.

I suspect Hamza will continue to be backup until Ricardo is fully fit and we have depth at RB.

It's criminal we're in this position as a club and not have adequate cover.

This might be the #1 thing that annoys me about football fans.

Just ****ing quit with this shit. The vast, vast majority of you cannot tell if a footballer is "trying" or not and most of you who'll claim you can are either delusional or lying.

Most of them will go out there with professional pride and put a shift in. A small handful might genuinely be half arsing it but it's not even close to a majority.

Morale might be low, confidence might be low, heads might have dropped and performances might go with it but the idea that they're all just simply not trying at all is plainly absurd in the real world.

Get off the ****ing Internet for a minute and touch some grass.

(and yeah yeah, Finners has thousands of posts and is saying touch grass, hur durp hur. But if I can manage to do both so can the rest of you.)

It only takes one or two to half arse it for it to effect the team, we are in the trenches we need everybody fighting for the same team :D gonna touch grass now.

Our board are arrogant and delusional.

They think that just doing nothing fixes things and that problems go away.

People loved to go on about the amount of sides who bounced back up the ever growing gap between the two leagues but did ignore that these clubs went through a bit of surgery to get there.

Leeds, Burnley, Sheffield United. Leicester to an extent in 2023/24, Southampton also.

They all freshened things up.

Sticking with the same dog shit, loser players has no benefit if they aren't 'far' too good for the league and on the early evidence, most of them aren't.

Even most of those who were "too good for the league" finished 2023/24 badly.

Southampton and Ipswich will finish above us even regardless of a deduction. Not convinced by either but they have at least tried to change things up a bit.

We stick with this hateful team. Disgrace.

The OP was talking about over inflated ego's, players not trying, thinking they are too good to be here. It's been discussed over and over that a laissez-faire attitude seems to originate from Seagrave. Even the players have mentioned it. All that money spent and very little to show at the sharp end.

It's nothing to to with Seagrave. Attitude is down to the owner the board and previous managers. Having a spine is the problem.

Do you think senior pros would be like this under Pearson or jock Wallace?

No most of these limp dicks would never have been bought in the first place.

70/80 and 90k a week you move closer to the club. And the big joke no you pay a fvcking dog sitter..

It's not Seagrave it's a culture problem. Fvcking grow up. Stop trading them like babies. They're adults ffs.

Put it into perspective though.

You yourself are in a job that is paying you £500k per annum.

In reality, you know you could only move jobs and maybe pick up £200k per annum.

Your mortgage, lifestyle etc are built around the £500k per annum.

Do you stay for 2 years picking up the extra £300k, or leave as it’s a little bit toxic?

Not everyone will answer that question, the same way.

Definitely. This is why I can’t have sympathy with them. It’s like they are held prisoner here but in reality, they are only ‘stuck’ here because they are paid a wage nobody else in football will paid and instead of going somewhere else for a measly £30k p/w, they are moping around here on their £60k p/w!

I was unhappy in my last job and it was taking a toll on me. I left and moved somewhere I would be happier, and in the process took a salary cut. And you are talking very modest salaries here where yearly salary is less than what these guys currently earn in a week which is sickening!

So if they can’t bring themselves to move and take less wages elsewhere, they can’t be that unhappy, and can suck it up and show some effort or continue to take their medicine from the fans in my view.
