Maybe controversial and would be unpopular in some quarters ,but id be happy with a "free for all" for away tickets. Fastest finger first .  Season ticket holders and members at the same time. 8 am on a given day.  Yeah sometimes you will miss out, but everyone gets a look in. And if it doesn't sell out, open it up to booking history..

And maybe it would lead to some "fresher" away ends which is often talked about.

Looking at it logically, and some may disagree, season tickets relate to home games where obviously you are guaranteed a seat.  Why should you then be allowed first dibs at away tickets.  There will be members who attend lots of home games who dont get a sniff of away tickets.

Im speaking as a season ticket holder just for clarity but I've been on both sides of the coin.

This is my first season having an ST since 2012, I feel like the old system based purely on your away attendance in the previous season was much fairer. Having a season ticket for 10+ years whilst attending 0 away games shouldn’t mean you can rock up to Forest one year just cause you fancy it.

It is my understanding the English national team use a 'three-year rolling attendance' to enable those who go to the games consistently to determine the priority for purchasing tickets.

The idea of three years, rather than one, is to allow for a situation that if someone becomes ill or injured for part of a season, or has a change in personal or financial circumstances, then they still retain some priority points but would drop down the priority slightly. (If that makes sense!)

I would support that process if the club went down that route, but the important element of that process is ‘those who go to the games’ and not those who buy tickets just to keep their priority points high.

I've never thought that season ticket holders should get any priority for away games.   I've always believed "home" and "away" should be kept separate.

Prior to 2014 we had the following system (or something along these lines anyway):

The amount of away games you attend the previous season determines the priority.
Less than 8 makes you Priority One,
between 8 and 12 is Priority Two,
13 and over is Priority Three.

Then you just kept the same priority all through the next season.   A nice simple system, that allowed fans who weren't ST holders ... but who lived in far flung parts of Britain, to regularly attend a few away matches each year.

Been saying this for years.

You would then find no one would be going to Plymouth on a cold, wet Wednesday night in January as all the regulars have stopped going.   There needs to be reward for loyalty or you would lose it.

Has the club spoke about changing the away tickets system or not?

There was a "your 90 minutes" on the subject back in Feb, where the club reps seemed to be keen to make changes and there was broad agreement between them and the fans who attended. Heard nothing since unfortunately.

Those your 90 minutes have frustratingly been like this for all of their existence.

No decision makers sent by the club, no notes it’s just a tick box sadly.

The all season tickets holders day to get tickets,  was a perk, for away tickets, over the members, which is a reason to become a season ticket holder,  in the first place, those who go to the most games, should get first choice, and l am down the pecking order

Miss the days when we just decided the night before to go to an away game, got the train, pay on the gate!

If all the happy clappers who keep saying they’re done with the club but keep popping up wanting tickets actually went away, this would be the case again

England is rolling 4 years.

Loads of clubs do this system as well now.

The other good part of the England system is when it gets to the point where applicants exceed tickets available, they do a ballot rather than fast finger online.

Correct!

The current system gives those further down the food chain absolutely no incentive to purchase a ticket (in their own name), in regards earning a priority point.

Too often you must make a choice; stay at home or obtain a ticket by other means, even though by doing so, you perpetuate the very system that prevents you buying a ticket in the first place.

To be honest, I’m totally disillusioned that the club are doing f**k all about it, other than to use words such as ‘review’, ‘looking at it’ and ‘consultation’.

I actually had contact with Jim this summer about how it could be improved....Same boat for me though as a season ticket holder since 2017 there's no chance of ever having a priority, despite the 60 away games I have been to including Europe.....One day they may sort it, but still hoping for the 3 /4/5/6 year rolling, rather than the 12 year rolling period!

Been fed up even looking into it but still hoping.....

I wont hold my breath :scarf:

I was there and, after listening to all the rational and positive comments regarding the need to change the away points system, I came away thinking change would be forthcoming this season – but no.

But as they say … ‘It’s the hope that kills you’!

Although I did hear murmurings about a ‘survey’ to be held in the next few months / years / decades / millennium (delete as appropriate).

As others have said, they are aware of what needs to change on the away priority system and the suggested new system is spot on but it's just idled away time wise.

Part of me wonders if they are being naive and waiting for any promotion - as the PL is probably two years away from digital away ticketing.

Sold out within 2 minutes.

I think a lot of the long-standing STHs chose not to renew this year, so there are a disproportionate number of people in the “all STH” category.
I’ve got 460 points, and it frustrates me that that level of points doesn’t confer any benefit at all in terms of priority, and I’m competing with people who only got their season ticket this year.

All the more reason to reform the away points system that they've apparently been "looking into" for about 10 years.

Doubt anything will happen though as their key demographics are wrapped up nicely at the top of the tree and they won't want to upset them.

Also the head of ticketing has moved on. So a fresh approach is timely.

Was there a specific head of ticketing or are you referring to the old commercial director?

The Ticketing Manager, did the role for 10 years and others before that. 21 year stint.
