Spiritwalker Posted 18 October 2025 Posted 18 October 2025 I don’t have any strong feelings on this, but I’m not sure why you’d want to boo. 4

Away fans of a club being banned from attending a European fixture because police/security deem to be them a significant risk is nothing new, nor is it exclusive to Maccabi Tel Aviv — ask fans of Legia Warsaw (whose behaviour at Villa Park earned them a ban) Frankfurt, Feyenoord, West Ham, Barcelona, etc Aston Villa's Jewish fans (I believe they have a small Jewish Supporters Group?) aren't banned from attending, nor am I aware of any Aston Villa fans being banned on the basis of their religion. 13 1

Frankel1981 Posted 18 October 2025 Author Posted 18 October 2025 Fans causing trouble would be banned by UEFA this isn’t the case in this instance.
Popular Post ChrisFilter Posted 18 October 2025 Popular Post Posted 18 October 2025 Imagine being so uncomfortable with the idea of inclusivity that you’d boo kneeling. Or start a frothy-mouthed forum post about it, for that matter. 10

They weren't banned by UEFA because their recent incidents of violence were outside of the stadium, and in UEFA's eyes (long-established precedent) if it wasn't in the stadium they didn't see it. This ban was initiated by the council, informed by a risk assessment (or some such) from the wider policing network. France for example has regional prefects who routinely issue bans to away contigents they believe will cause trouble; same with Italy's regional councils who have previously banned fans from German teams whose home address is in the same city as the team. I'll quote one of the articles I linked in my previous post that you obviously haven't bothered to read: "The Frankfurt fans were excluded on Sept. 22 when Italian authorities issued an order to Napoli denying the German club the usual ticket allocation for visiting teams because of the risk of violence between rival fans." Silebyfox_89 Posted 18 October 2025 Posted 18 October 2025 To me kneeling has lost its impact and has too many negative connotations relating to the domestic US policy. I'm happy to support equality for all persons and think the Premier League should bring about its own vision to highlight issues of prejudice not influenced by others politically. 2

splinterdream Posted 18 October 2025 Posted 18 October 2025 This Country is doing all it can to stamp out racism. The police have ramped up the fight with thousands of arrests for social media posts, more than 50% of television representation reflects 10% of the demographic, MPs have bèen elected into the commons to campain for blasphemy laws, Palestine, and cousin marraige, police are now actively negiotiating with community leaders to find out how to police, and we are now awarding a £60m contract for private healthcare to refugees, money well spent i say, so kneeling has done some good you'd think.🤔 2
Frankel1981 Posted 18 October 2025 Author Posted 18 October 2025 Not sure why questioning something always results in name calling from the left? No debate just Nazi, Facist or racist really quite tiresome maybe they should read a thesaurus at night to learn some more slurs. 2 1
sheffield_fox Posted 18 October 2025 Posted 18 October 2025 Some people just love an excuse to get wound up. If you don't like kneeling then don't kneel. If someone else wants to do it then let them. It doesn't affect you at all. 1

Both terms that can be levelled at all opponents whatever your viewpoint. Playground name-calling doesn't add anything to the discussion or alter anyone's opinion whether you like it or not. Opinions are healthy and by talking about inclusivity in the game is a good thing, isn't it? 3

It's probably because it's so unbelievably obvious why it actually winds people up. Apparently everyone can tell except the people who are annoyed. Shaking hands at the end of the match could be called virtue signalling. Same for doing minutes silence before a game. But of course no one gets wound up about those. 4
ts_1010 Posted 18 October 2025 Posted 18 October 2025 I'm not aware of any championship clubs kneeling this week. Prem clubs are doing it as part of a drive to highlight racism in and around the sport. This is a pre planned event/gesture/whatever, to coincide with the Say No to Racism campaign, scheduled for game week 8 and 9. This is not happening because of the Villa game. It's almost like someone has used this event to stir up anger and division among supporters of this club...
Frankel1981 Posted 18 October 2025 Author Posted 18 October 2025 Club posted a racism message earlier in week it coincides with premier league campaign this weekend.

Most of the reasons i have heard and seen for people getting wound up was due to it being linked with the BLM organisation, a self confessed marxist organisation originating from the US
