Well in, Joe!

He’s such a great Test batsman. I’m so pleased he’s got a second in Australia.

Shocking start with the ball and in the field again. Ducketts drop was an absolute dolly. His attitude in the field stinks has done all series, not just drops, chasing balls half heartedly all the time

Promise you he wouldn’t drop a beer, fat plonker.

Had a good UK summer but been shocking out here, have a lengthy rest.

Head player of the series for me, just can't bowl at him and he's put everything away. Hes been everyrhing we wanted crawley and duckett to be.

Worst opening bowling we've ever put up though probably.

How has Josh Tongue not took the new ball?

Poor from Potts but always hard to come in for the last test of an away series.

Smith is a victim of the we must attack attitude, and it's confused his mind. He's a better player than this.

Heading for a draw already or too early to tell, given England's 2nd innings still to come and their proneness to a collapse?

All three results equally possible right now imo, we'll know a lot more after today's/ tomorrow's play.

There's a very good article on BBC Sport regarding England's bowling weaknesses, the why's & why nots etc.

We are obviously not doing the basics, or learning from previous mistakes.

But the same is true of the batting, where we're constantly being told how richly endowed with talent they all are. You'll get more out of a team where they may be of less stellar ability but give it everything, every second and use their brains. Smith should be dropped. Not permanently, but as a clear punishment. It was disgraceful getting out to Marcus' medium bouncers. They set him up and he fell for it. If he'd left every ball and gone into lunch he had the opportunity of continuing to bat for the team. As it was, the Aussies could probably barely stand in the dressing room for laughing. And that hurts the team when the other side are able to send the clear message that they think, and have just demonstrated, that you're fools.

The batting smacks of arrogance, has done for some time now. Bazball was never sustainable, fun while it lasted though. Time to park it.

I've said it before, Root plays in a positive way, builds an innings, reads a match situation. Surely that's the blueprint for the rest.

Watched all the morning so far. The Jacks drop is a shocker and the test could have been very different if he'd held it. Crawley just dropped Smith too.

Poor catching really costing us

Particularly now Smith is leading the  Aussies to a strong commanding lead potentially.

Mad that we are gonna lose this after being 212/3 at the start of day 2. We aren’t capable of batting 3 sessions let alone 5.

Well that's that then for this match, probably be an innings defeat too.

Not good enough all round. Unfortunately Potts showing why he's been last choice but as I said yesterday, it's hard to come in for one test when you've not bowled competitively.
