Aluko clearly isn't seen as someone who can play the 'Ricardo role' though, that's why he pushes higher up the pitch.

That would naturally mean Jordan James (our best player this season) would have to sit in defensive midfield, to allow Aluko to get further forward. Which is why we had Choudhury alongside Skipp yesterday.

 

I'd probably prefer he came in for Thomas at LB, and tucked in as the third CB in possession. Thomas is our weak link, and Aluko should be a massive upgrade.

Genuinely question though, why does he need to be the Ricardo role? We need to start again with our ideas as the last few years have been crap so I don’t think we should put too much focus on trying to replicate roles.
 

Let Aluko be his own player and right back. If he is a stay at home type (like Simpson) let him. If his style is to bomb on and be an overlapping full back great, the winger will get more support. But I think we need to scrap this inverted stuff anyway as it doesn’t work for us. But putting him out of position at left back is not the answer in my own opinion of course.

With Ricky's contract ending in the summer and Hamza not being a RB, Aluko may be our starting RB next season. He needs as much exposure in this role as possible.

at his age I'm not massively worried about his build.

 

nor do we need ulrich van gobbel sized tank units at FB

 

if he has enough pace and desire, his build is fine

By the way, for those who say there aren’t certain sections of the fanbase who can’t stand seeing academy players doing well, here are some comments from FB simply from a post with a picture of Aluko saying he’ll have a big future…

Doesn't show case his talent at all.
Against better teams and players will be able to judge better, but still don't think he will come good

Needs another 5 years on loan before he will be any good

Poor yesterday needs to go out on loan learn a bit more in the lower leagues

They are still hoping for Rodgers to turn it round as well 

 

I just think there’s no need to be jumping in with negativity towards youngsters who are literally in their first handful of appearances.

Unless you are inherently against youth players which for me means you are both bitter and clueless to what is needed for clubs like ours to compete.

It's just their hypocrisy. Disagreements on players, so be it, I don't agree with them but fair enough. But to slaughter a young player who had a decent game, these are the people who bash you for 'not supporting the team' as well.
