The seasons essentially a write off, poor manager and no money, but just enough individual talent for this league to keep us mid table.

This kid has to play and get games, he will have ups and downs, but we lose nothing by playing him and gain everything if he develops well.

Worst case is he turns out like Thomas and we address it in the summer.

Exactly.

Would much rather he rotate with Ricardo at RB than Hamza

Aluko clearly isn't seen as someone who can play the 'Ricardo role' though, that's why he pushes higher up the pitch.

That would naturally mean Jordan James (our best player this season) would have to sit in defensive midfield, to allow Aluko to get further forward. Which is why we had Choudhury alongside Skipp yesterday.

I'd probably prefer he came in for Thomas at LB, and tucked in as the third CB in possession. Thomas is our weak link, and Aluko should be a massive upgrade.

Thomas he’s bullied every week…… Alukonis better than Thomas… he produced more in that game than Thomas probably ever has (despite a brief stint under Rodgers).

Barkley was addressing the idea of him playing CB.

Because right now, Ricardo is 'nailing' the Ricardo role isnt he!?

Personally think he lacks the physicality. Playing against a big fvcker up top and he will get bullied.

Having said that we play Vestegaard so worth a try

Which is unlike Ricardo or Luke Thomas right?

Yes.  Mentioning him playing there preseason but maybe being too lightweight for it in the Champ.

Oh, in that case no agree. CB at this level would work for him. He’s a full back through and through!

With Ricky's contract ending in the summer and Hamza not being a RB, Aluko may be our starting RB next season. He needs as much exposure in this role as possible.

at his age I'm not massively worried about his build.

nor do we need ulrich van gobbel sized tank units at FB

if he has enough pace and desire, his build is fine

By the way, for those who say there aren’t certain sections of the fanbase who can’t stand seeing academy players doing well, here are some comments from FB simply from a post with a picture of Aluko saying he’ll have a big future…

We were playing weak opponents.....
Doesn't show case his talent at all.
Against better teams and players will be able to judge better, but still don't think he will come good

No chance, he is nowhere near close enough to be starting

Needs another 5 years on loan before he will be any good

No he won't, weak link .

Too slow

Poor yesterday needs to go out on loan learn a bit more in the lower leagues

Yeah! One good game now he's worth 100mil lol stupid fanboy nonsense

I have my doubts.

Needs another job other than being a football player for

LCFC.
Maybe as a
Council bin man

Looks a bit flimsy but more mobile than fat players.

Really🤔

Also someone asking who is he to be fair lol

I mean these are generally the same

supporters of course who blindly follow Aiyawatt so not saying their options are worth a damn. But it’s definitely the case even if people want to deny it’s the case.

The Facebook lot. Just wrong literally every time. These are quite likely the same apologists of KP as well which is incredible.

They are still hoping for Rodgers to turn it round as well :whistle:

I just think there’s no need to be jumping in with negativity towards youngsters who are literally in their first handful of appearances.

Unless you are inherently against youth players which for me means you are both bitter and clueless to what is needed for clubs like ours to compete.

It's just their hypocrisy. Disagreements on players, so be it, I don't agree with them but fair enough. But to slaughter a young player who had a decent game, these are the people who bash you for 'not supporting the team' as well.

This is genuinely insane.

For a second senior start I thought it was a really encouraging performance but perhaps that’s just me.

These people aren’t even worth engaging with. I bet you it’ll be because he got sent off against Southampton. They’ve made their minds up on him because of that.
