Sad news on the passing of ex City winger Howard 'puffer' Riley age 87

Wigston lad who played for Leicester for over a decade & was loved by all City fans.

Played cricket for Wigston Town after retirement  & was active in helping his local community.

I didn’t know that and it’s so sad! He was my PE teacher at King Dicks in the late 70’s. RIP Mr Riley 😥

My dad saw Howard playing for City. Howard went on to be my PE teacher at school. I was rubbish at sports but Howard was always encouraging, and he knew every pupil's name. Good man. RIP.

Simply a marvellous human being who was so humble about his achievements whilst always building up other people.Never said a lot but when he did you listened for that reason. God rest your soul H,I,m so glad i saw you in Wigston over Xmas-as i went to go i kissed your head and you said.....oh you are awful but i like you!!.......RIP Howard Thoughts with family and friends

Some years ago at work I met an older bloke who was a big Spurs fan. When I said I was a Leicester fan one of the first Leicester players he remembered as being outstanding from the era was Howard Riley

I never saw him play but I do remember my dad telling me about Howard 'Puffer' Riley.  Great player and fan favourite by all accounts.
