I bet when you discuss this game with people you don't say "when Leicester beat Southampton nill nine" do you.

No, but I would say when Leicester beat Southampton 9-0 at their place.

If I was just writing down the score then it would be 0-9.

I was at both those games too.

Like you, my dad took me to the Leatherhead game when i was 8.....one of my first ever games. Seem to remember some fella called Chris Kelly scoring for them.

The Shrewsbury 5-2 game remains the best LCFC game ive ever seen in terms of drama, atmosphere and emotion.   Not often you finish a game with your 3rd GK....who is 5'7" ...!

I was in the south stand standing enclosure that day....absolutely packed in like sardines.  Weirdly, i think the pouring rain actually added to the atmosphere that day...!

The Shrewsbury game doesnt quite beat the Stevie Claridge "shin of god" moment.....but it was a great game!!!!

Kelly did score, 'The Leatherhead Lip'.

I loved the atmosphere & feel of those early/mid 70s matches, we were a great side too. So entertaining.

The Shrewsbury game had everything, a true cup tie.

Agree and it is probably my favourite ever Filbert Street game.

But we finished the game with the taller Alan Young in goal as Steve Lynex who had initially replaced Wallington was not coping as he was a bit too small.

I was there for the defeat at Harlow and the win at Liverpool.

Couple of mates and I were out the Harlow ground sharpish the minute the whistle blew and unfortunately ran into a group of their lads (could have been Spurs) we dodged most of them but about 6 or so gave chase. We ended up hiding behind bins in a block of nearby flats, they ran up the stairs, we ran like crazy back to the car. Then had to sit in the car whilst getting out of town with fake smiles plastered on our gobs as they were checking cars for miserable Leicester fans.

Managed to talk another 4 into going to Liverpool with a line like “We will be able to boast in the future that we were there when we got spanked by 6 goals, may even have said 10).

The scousers applauded our boys off and then turned and whilst many then applauded the Leicester fans who had made the trip some of them launched anything they could lay their hands on at us, mate got hit by a lump of concrete.

Made our way back to where the car was parked in Stanley Park and dozens of the ****ers came charging down the road (again we were near the front and were crapping ourselves). BS boys stepped forward and screamed at everyone to ‘hold don’t run’.

The scousers thankfully backed off and disappeared.

Our vivid lime green van overheated a mile or so down the road and two of us had to go into a pub to ask for water to top it up.

It was like athat scene from An American Werwolf in London. I was the only one who would go back in a second time to get more water. One of the locals asked if all my mates had bottled it and left it to me, “what ****ing mates I replied?”. “You’re alright kid,

crack on”.

I was still somewhat relived when the va started and we got the hell out of the city.

I remember the Kop applauding us off. Our players came over to us first so it was a good 5 minutes after the end, and not just people waiting at the exit. It was quality. I recall the missiles. First coins, then whatever else that they could find. It was literally the best and worst of Liverpool fans. Your angry mob also got to the supporter's coaches, firstly trying to attack the fans, then chucking all sorts at the buses. It was a welcome treat after the FA Cup howler earlier that week.

I went to Anfield again 3 years later on Boxing day when the score was repeated. There wasn't so much emotion or anger that time. Lineker and Smith scored early on and it was another great day. And so the story of us being Liverpool's bogey team continued.

7th June 1972 . Leicester 2 Cagliari 1, Anglo Italian cup, I was there. Sick all night after eating a dodgy doughnut from club kiosk.

Ha ha, I like your style! Sorry you were ill. I was there too as a young teenager. How exciting it was- Weller, Shilton , Wortho etc and it seemed so international to be playing an Italian side.

Just to be clear....i am an LCFC supporter and was stood on the Kop that day because i was with my Liverpool mates from college.

I didnt actually witness any of the bad behaviour from where i was stood or afterwards....i was just commenting on the applause and sporting behaviour of their fans on the Kop.

(PS  unusual to hear of Liverpool supporters throwing coins....they're normally nicking them, not throwing them!) :)

Leicester 2 - 3 Tottenham after being 2-1 up after 90 minutes. I was so angry I nearly threw my 7 year old daughter onto the pitch in disgust

Should have thrown her on when it was 2-1 we might have won

I was at the water polo match at Maine Road in ‘95 when a Mark Robins header gave us our only away win of the season. The club coaches arrived in injury time at the end of the game. It was the same night Cantona did his kung fu kick at Palace.
