SystonFox Posted 23 February Posted 23 February We are playing Middlesborough not Real Madrid, guys. There is often a result that kick starts something and could this be it.... 2-1 City? 2
LCFCJohn Posted 23 February Posted 23 February It feels like quite a predicable 3-1 defeat. Middlesbrough to go 2-0 up fair early, or first half rather. We’ll pull one back in the second but they will seal it later one as their increased quality and our lack of fitness shows.
CrazyKopCorner Posted 23 February Posted 23 February (edited) There's no one to fear in this league but ourselves ........ and that is ****ing scary . 2 nil Boro Edited 23 February by CrazyKopCorner

But Boro are doing well, and we’re shit at pretty much every level of the club…… Got a feeling of Fulham away under Smith this, some folk are getting giddy about throwing away three points at Stoke and now we’re plying a better team….

Thing is, no team actually has to create any chances against us. We gift the chances to the opposition. Look at the goals against you guys a few weeks ago. Goalkeeper not coming for basic crosses, defenders falling over their own feet, Ricardo against, it was one of the recent home games against Oxford or Charlton, standing and just getting robbed of the ball under no pressure.

Their GK is worse. The only reason they're doing so well is they normally control the midfield and the ball. Just hit the ball over their midfield and they struggle badly. If your manager has watched their last 2 games he will set you up to do so.

But we need minimum 2 to get anything from any game. I have never seen an overall defence as bad and as badly organised as well as the sheer volume of mistakes game after game as us. Regardless of Middlesbrough’s weaknesses, let’s not kid ourselves that they are in a different league (metaphorically speaking) to ourselves. I know you personally will want us to get something as it boosts your prospects but manage your expectations!

teblin Posted 23 February Posted 23 February This is the time of the season where some of the results start to be a bit strange, teams lower down beating teams near the top. Our issue is we don't look like keeping clean sheets. That said we can hurt all teams in this division going forward if we are on it. I wouldn't be surprised to see us win tomorrow, I also would be surprised to see us get thrashed who knows.

Whoops you are right they have won 6 of the last 8- I forgot to add on their 0-0 draw with Oxford - a team that are capable of defending and has now 4 clean sheets in 2026 including against both top 2 sides 10 hours ago, Gamble92 said: We didn't deserve to lose to stoke I hear you and we were much better in the 2nd half and should/could have won it so maybe I was a bit harsh - if they played like that for the full 90 we definitely would have deserved to win, but they should have been out of sight in the first half - easily a game where we could have scored 3 or more and still lost 1
MC Prussian Posted 23 February Posted 23 February The best defense against the second-worst defense in the Championship this season. Hmm... MIddlesbrough have only lost twice at home this season, against Coventry and Hull. So, where will our first clean sheet in 28 games come from? This calls for an upset.

Your new manager seems to have got you playing better.

Too early to say. We're still defending like mannequins and scoring from half chances. That said, we'd obviously be out of danger without the points deduction, so we should be better than the teams around us.
ClaphamFox Posted 23 February Posted 23 February 7 minutes ago, LFEFox23 said: 2-0 Boro, sorry but this bunch aint got enough fight. They showed plenty of fight in the second half on Saturday, which is what Rowett's teams are renowned for. I don't think we'll have a problem with a lack of fight from now on. Our main problem is our defence, which has been shocking all season. I think Rowett may also improve that over time through coaching, but he won't be able to do much before tomorrow's game. I'm anticipating a positive performance let down by a couple of defensive howlers. 2-2 again. 1
hinkfox21 Posted 23 February Posted 23 February Parts of me want to lose this to keep the pressure on Coventry. But then again, can we afford to lose in this relegation battle we are in. If we didn't draw against stoke I would be feeling a lot more confident.
Fazzer 7 Posted 23 February Posted 23 February Just have a feeling we'll get a point here. They have to sort this leaky defence out. Okoli and Nelson are so poor, their positioning is all over the place, no pace cumbersome and slow to react. both are poor in the air also. What is the answer
AKCJ Posted 23 February Posted 23 February 22 hours ago, Fox92 said: Oxford got a draw there yesterday so not reason why we can’t either. Lost to Cov the game before too so an early goal for us would be lovely to rattle them. Goal! Middlesbrough 1-0 Leicester City Whittaker 2' 1
FoxinNotts Posted 23 February Posted 23 February If we could just scramble a draw (as Oxford did), and Baggies get beat, that would take us out of the relegation zone, and give us a massive massive mental boost IMO Put's the mindset in a completely different space. Gives the players a different focus - Just need to better the results of the three below, week on week. Anyway, one can dream! long way to go...... Our biggest concern is our defense. So feeble.
Rubbersoul Posted 23 February Posted 23 February If I had to be positive: Boro lost to promotion rivals then drew 0-0 at home to second bottom. This could be the “team going for promotion has a wobble” moment. Plus I think Rowett actually made a difference on Saturday at HT. Now my realistic opinion: Our defenders all look like they’re trying to play football in jeans. We will probably lose because we’re mentality midgets. Another draw would be fine just to go into Norwich at home 2 games unbeaten. Anything to build some momentum.
LVFox Posted 23 February Posted 23 February We have to, and I expect us to cramp the midfield up against these or they will easily play through Winks and Skipp. Begovic Ricardo Okoli Nelson Thomas Aribo Winks Skipp Monga. Mukasa. Mavididi Obviously Fatawu comes back in if fit, and personally I’d play Ricardo at RW, Aluko at RB and drop Mavididi.
AKCJ Posted 23 February Posted 23 February We will undoubtedly have at least 30-45 minutes where it looks like we're a League Two side. Just have to hope that Boro don't capitalise on that. 1
