I reckon Mavididi has always been their backup - and they desperately need to get someone in soon, given their disastrous start to the season. They agreed £6.5m for Drioeuch, so we might get similar. 1

I would class that as horrendously short. It's two positions and 4 options one being a kid with zero men's football experience and the other being Hamza Choudhury.

It's one position as we'll play with one 6 and we have minimum 4 options for it (admittedly Hamza is shite)

A single pivot (a six, if you like) and the starting option for that position is Oliver Skipp. A box-to-box midfielder (an eight, if you like) and the starting option for that position is Sammy Braybrooke. An attacking midfielder (a ten, if you like) and the starting option for that spot is Connor Chaplin. We have plenty of back up for the attacking midfielder role but almost no back up for the pivot or box to box role. If Skipp gets injured then we're playing Hamza Choudhury in the single pivot. I would say that is us horrendously short and absolutely not a scenario I want to see happen.

We effectively play with 2 8's, just that out of possession we'll setup in more of a 442 with one of the 8's pressing as if he's a striker. For the pivot role, we have Skipp, Braybrooke, Neale and Choudhury (Page also played there in one of the pre-season games). For the 8 roles, we have Braybrooke, Chaplin, Page, Cullen, Alves, Choudhury and Howell (at a push). We have 9 players covering 3 positions. We've got a flexible squad by design and it's been one of the more impressive things about the recruitment and squad building this summer. 2
Richmondfox Posted 14 August Posted 14 August If we can’t shift Mavadidi, the bare minimum should be dropping him. You would like to think Martin and the coaches have seen enough and giving an unknown unknown is the next step.
whoareyaaa Posted 14 August Posted 14 August Imagine be a professional footballer with his attitude never want to see him in a Leicester shirt again depressing asf 2

Other than the amount of games, I wouldn't have a problem if it was just Skipp, but knowing that we can use Braybrooke to take some of the workload or if Skipp gets injured is more than adequate back up. Most squad philosophies will agree that you want 2 decent options in each position - and we have that to a really good standard. Beyond these two, Neale looked great in pre-season and Hamza, although not popular, is a perfectly decent player at this level and on occasions can put in some really good performances. If anything, we're spoilt for choice with 4 options for a single on-field spot.

You initially only mention the positions of Page and Souttar (let's forget about souttar), but if you want to expand it.... page's primary position is a 6, who can play 8 - given that page is probably behind braybrooke, chaplin, cullen and reid to play one of the 8/10 spots and, as discussed elsewhere, has alternate options at 6, i don't see his sale from a numbers point of view as such a crisis. It would still leave us with at least 2 players in each of the 3 midfield spots (plus neale has played 6 and 8 in preseason, and Alves can play as an 8). I think you're worrying unnecessarily about this.
