I haven't been to the KP for the last 2 years because the football has been Dire, I've now been to the last 2 games and I'm afraid to say it's no better even after we have shipped out some of the deadwood. 

 

I hate the play out from the back type of football, when it's played with players that everybody knows are not capable of playing that way apart from the manager. To continue to persist with it is ridiculous. We almost conceded in the first minute when we passed to them in our box.

 

I was one willing to give Russell Martin and chance and looked forward to getting to the ground a few times this season, already I don't want to watch it live again.

Souttar and Okoli at the back are terrifying and as for the two of them with our keeper playing out from the back, God help us. Other than that youngsters looked encouraging and happy with Watson for the ever awful Mavididi.

Northampton were absolute gash. Against better teams, we will be punished. However, league one is full of terrible teams. Add a striker to this squad and we will be cooking. Wes Burns and Tommy Watson are cheat codes, massive step up on Alves and Mavididi.

 

Braybrooke will be our key midfielder along with chaplain. 

 

CB situation is so scary because realistically okoli, souttar and faes are all being sold by the transfer window closing, therefore bedding in new CBs in the league campaign will be horrible.

Nope - no expectation of 10/10s. If Winks had Braybrooks game today then most would be saying it was solid yet unspectacular. Watson looked better than Stephy. Would sooner have seen Otcheri instead of BDR (or Hutchinson), but the loan is best for him and we have incomings. JJ looked better than Ricardo did most of last season.

 

CB's are my biggest concern. Okoli looks poor at any level, and i dont buy into the Souttar hype. He has as many mistakes in him as Okoli or Wout do. His positive though is he isnt a ****.

 

But the Academy graduates were about where we need them to be. Lots of improving to do, which will come with game time and being given responsibility. If that means 9/10 performances but mid season, then i think none of us can hope for more.

No way, IF he stays, he can play every game. He doesnt have the fitness.

Souttar gets away with his limitations because he wins all his duels and clears corners etc.

After today's horror show bedding in 2 or 3 new Centrebacks is a necessity

I think the biggest thing to take away from today, again is all too obvious. We are in desperate need of a striker. It felt like at times we were playing with 10 men. No one occupied their centre halves. I also feel like a lot of it was a bit too predictable. What’s the point of getting it out wide if we aren’t going to put balls in the box? But then again, there wasn’t anyone in the box to do so. We will dominate possession against nearly every team we play against, that’s so clear to see.

 

Teams will press us high, but that could play into our hands if we can break the press although I’m already braced for a few goals conceded from us messing it up from out the back.  
 

I think in the first couple of weeks we are going to have to rely on the quality rather than the team clicking also, but hopefully that will come as we get through our first few games. The blueprint, along with the quality is there for sure even if today was a bit underwhelming. 
 

Impressed with Joseph and Braybrooke, even if they did get caught out a few times, their confidence at such a young age is fantastic. 
 

A win is a win.

A half decent L1 team would’ve scored 2-3 against us today comfortably

It wasn't 'good' but it wasn't as concerning as that. Not a single chance created from open play and worryingly we gave a pretty good one away - something you could see happening a lot with these defenders as well if they're playing how Martin instructs.

 

Maybe the difference is Martin will realise this and address it. Cifuentes never did.

Just think Martin has had a decent amount to deal with.

 

Club at an all time low, 15 senior pros out and only 4 in. Still a number who could be sold at the right price.

 

The 4 in two have pick up injuries, 1 only brought in last week.

 

2 loans only just arrived.

 

Enzo had 30m to spend, around a decent squad to start with.

 

Martin has what around a 1m?

 

Had a squad without 1 CF with any real experience.

 

ACL to one of his first choice CBs! 

 

Today he had Braybrooke, Joseph making their City debuts and Alves who played 4 minutes for the club previously.

I have no idea. Im just using the logic stipulated in the post that all those people who are concerned with random, unvetted illegal immigrants coming in to the country are "senile, racist old spags". Often, some of these people are just not capable of articulating themselves well enough to form a coherent argument against what they see as a genuine concern.

 

There is a sliding scale and you cant just pigeon hole people in to the "everyone welcome, no matter who you are" camp and the "senile, racist" camp.

I was really looking forward to this game but I'm afraid all that enthusiasm vanished at 13.45 when I saw the team. Okoli, Thomas, Skipp, Mavadidi, Bdcr all playing & my fears were realised when I watched the game.

The energy, pace, enthusiasm & positivity that I saw from the younger players in the friendlies was swept away as the dead beats from the last couple of years returned to put their stain on the game. Slow, slow & slower.

We'll never get rid of these players, they are awful. We'll just have to wait until they are all out of contract & be hopeful that the club has not been liquidated by that time

So then why are you assuming that he’s telling a lie when he says he’s left to spend time with family?

 

You may know loads of managers who have done that but this one is still without a job as the season is about to start.

I'm enthused that the youngsters were as good as they were. Like new signings.

Think the whingers are more pointing fingers elsewhere. The players who have outstayed their welcome and have simply reproduced the same flaws that ensured our relegation last season, and the season BEFORE THAT.

 

I wish the new signings and academy graduates every success and hope they find their feet. The more established players will, and should not be given the same amount of slack.

Bit weird that Okoli gets an awful lot of stick today even though he scored the only goal, whereas "must keep" Harry Souttar has largely avoided criticism despite making a mistake so bad you'd think it might be an idea to check if he's put any bets on lately.
