"There is only one reason why we are in the league position we are in - we just don't score enough goals.I am not just pointing the finger at strikers, but that is the area in which it is most crucial/ We have a list of players who we believe will help us, although some of those names have been crossed off already following phone calls that we have made. We have now whittled that list down to two or three players who are possibles. That doesn't help us a lot for the Norwich or Crystal Palace games but it is important to know which way we are heading and where the money that we have available is going to be spent. I think the addition of a player, or maybe two players, would help us tremendously. We have players from the Premiership, Championship, lower divisions and abroad all on the list. The most important thing is that we get somebody in who has a record of scoring goals at first team level and will add goals to the squad Does this mean he will still be here next year, or is it a smokescreen? Lupoli is a doubt with Arsneal still in the Carling Cup im afriad, I would think he would play both legs.

The board meeting will be about his future, not bloody how much money he's got to spend.

He's also stated numerous times over the past couple of months that we need more firepower up front. Fair enough, things haven't worked out the way he wanted but it's ridiculous to infer that it's something he's only just realised.

Of the three strikers he's signed for us, only Hume looks a quality player. De Vries and Hammond just won't make the grade for us, even if they work their socks off. Also, you have to question his judgment when it comes to selecting strikers - after all he did play Dublin-De Vries up front on a few occasions earlier this season, when most of us can see that Dublin is well past it up front. I'm not surprised that Levein is looking for a forward, but I don't anticipate that he'll sign the proven goalscorer that we all crave.

For the sake of our clubs immediate future, i suggest we back him in his fight to turn us round. Campaigning for his head will make things alot worse.

I agree with you Amish, Hume's the only decent striker we've got at the club (I was the one who got 'the tip' that he was coming !). I wouldn't be surprised to see De Vries being used as as a 'makeweight' in a deal with a Jock club - perhaps Riordan - he is out of contract in the summer and we could get him for around £200k - thats if a Premiership club doesn't get him first (I've heard he's waiting to see if that happens before committing to us or Sheff Wed).

Same type of player, same size, same style of play. If he can leave his injury proneness behind him, we'd get an exceptional and still very talented striker who can score loads. I would get some support, though. We need a midfielder who can feed the strikers, the ones that we have right now can't even kick a ball into the penalty box...
