I'm getting to the end of my tether. Why should I have to listen to the opposition’s commentary every week? I'm seriously thinking about sending some emails to people in high places. Would anyone else be interested in trying to get this joke banned from doing the leicester commentary? it's mistake after mistake, he hasn't got a clue what's going on half the time. Come on Jon, it's time to bugger off.

Well said, I lost count of the amount of mistakes he made today. Get the sheep shagger out!

CP 2-0 Leicester

Some JB quotes in this game..

add to this him being generally annoying today....How many times does he want to mention that the Hinckley Utd shirt looks like the CP shirt

Barber out

I agree he is frustrating, but the more cock up he makes, the more it makes listening to the game amusing.

So i voted no

"Leicester have now won four games in a row"

That'd be a decent thing to say - except we lost the first of the last 4 games at Ipswich. He was there. Commentating. He was so convinced it was 4 wins in a row tho.

that reminds of that spell over christmas when he kept saying that we lost to norwich 2-0, despite the fact the game was only a week ago and of course he was there commentating.

I think below is a good example of Barber at his best :D

Today he said "here's Dublin with the knock on, o no it's not, its Marcus Tudgay"

Firstly:- Both players are from different sides

Secondly: Dublin isn't even playing

:unsure::rolleyes::smile:

aren't they different colours as well?

He is a buffoon, who acts like he knows it all. I agree, we've got to get rid of him. It's unbelievable how they could get rid of Nevile Foulger and replace him with a guy like Barber.

So do you think we do a mass email to RL or what?

Yep we should all do it. It doesn't cost anything and we can't really lose anything from sending an email. But who do we send it to though?

I was chastised myself by a TB poster called Bocadillo for referring to a game played in August 1969 and linking it to 1968/69 instead of 69/70 so I'm well aware of how easy it is to make an error, especially when you are producing quantities of copy or comment.

The great disadvantage for radio journalists as opposed to newspaper or broad media e-journalists is that the radio folk have no hiding place. They don't have copy readers or sub-editors to filter out mistakes and although corrections can be made, whatever they speak is immediately on record.

For that reason every day must be like walking along a pavement of nails. If ever I listen to them it is like the City players really. I hope they have a good un and don't score any own goals so to speak. There but for fortune...

The thing is, it's not just the mistakes, it's his whole persona. Old Nev made just as many mistakes but he was never cocky and seemed genuine. JB just really does my nut in. I've listened to probably 20 different BBC commentators now, and I’ve not come across one as bad, and there's been a few bad ones trust me! It's his voice, the fact he doesn't actually support Leicester...........DON'T GET ME STARTED  Perhaps you may know who we can email Tharc?

I understand where you're coming from, it is a tough-ish job where mistakes are easily made and there is no hiding.

But some of Barber's errors are amateurish - how can anyone say Leicester have won 4 games in a row when he's seen all the last 4 games? And how could he say Norwich beat Leicester 2-0 when he was there? These errors are unforgivable in my opinion - especially as he kept repeating these 'facts' on numerous occasions when he was clearly wrong.

Also, Barber seems to enjoy socialising with his co-commentator and discussing stupid irrelevant subjects such as the freezing weather or what's going on in the press room at half time, more than actually commentating on the game. If he stuck to his task of describing the football for 90 minutes rather than rambling about something completely off-topic, he wouldn't get slated as much.

I think the whole of the RL team should be kicked out. In the match thread, I was the first to realise that Barber's "We haven't kept a clean sheet for 20 games" comment was a load of bullshit.

So, after the game I texted in saying "No clean sheet in 20 games? Did I dream up a 1-0 win against Wolves on 4th of Feb, 8 games ago?"

I don't know if anyone heard but they read that out but changed most of it, they said they had a text which said "No clean sheet in 20 games? Did I dream a 1-0 win today....." and then made up some mumbled bit at the end which made no sense. I think it was something like "......well done Kelly and the team" or something.

So not only do they make mistakes, they don't own up to them and instead just change people's texts to cover their errors. The whole team, Barber especially, are just a group of airheads who don't know a thing about football and don't justify their wages.

I realise that commentating will bring some errors because it is pretty fast so I completely understand Barber saying the wrong thing now and again. But how the hell can someone mix up people with different skin colour? And his facts that he adds in are just a load of gobshite, if he is going to include these facts into his commentary he could at least have the decency to have them right, try doing some homework JB you dimwit.

And half the game is spent talking about garbage, I remember back in the days of the legendary Nev Foulger when he used to say what happened to every kick of the ball and I could just sit down and I actually used to imagine the game going on in my head. Now, half of the time is spent talking about what Jon Barber is going to have for dinner or what he feeds his cat or whatever. And I think it took everyone 10 seconds or so to realise Joey *hadn't* scored, because of how excited Jon Barber was for ages. He probably was pleased seeing as he is really a sheepshagger pretending to be a Leicester fan.

Bring back Nev Foulger with Matt Jones co-commentating!

What I cant stand about Barber though is say if Millwall had a chance, or Luton had a chance like last week, it would be like this:

"and Luton CROSS THE BALL IN HERE OOOOHHH AND ITS HEADED ONTO THE BAR OF THE GOAL, STEVE HOWARD ALMOST SCORING THERE"

He goes CRAZY when the opposition has a chance, and I sit there thinking, wait a minute, isnt this BBC Radio LEICESTER lol
