Levein Has Gone

Technically, Reid oversaw one relegation with Sunderland.

He then was manager for the season they were relegated second time round, but was sacked earlier in the season. That's when Wilkinson and Cotterill took over - Sunderland ended the season with just 19 points, a record low. Not all Reid's fault, but it wasn't surprising given they only escaped relegation the season before (The season we were relegated in 2001/2002)

He took over at Leeds to save them from relegation - which he achieved. He was then given another season, which saw him get off to a bad start, and was sacked again (They lost 4-0 to us). Leeds were subsequently relegated that season along with us. (2003/2004)

He then took charge of Coventry, where they were only too glad to get rid of him. MA took over and kept them up.

I wouldn't want him here as manager, thankyou.

I just said that Scowmeister.

"Technically, Reid oversaw one relegation with Sunderland."

If we go down "Technically" Levein didn't take us down but it's his bloody fault. So Reid can spin on it.

Compared to Levein, Reid is a real leader of men and a tactical mastermind.

He may have a crap record in this division, but then again, he never had the 5th highest wage bill to do it with did he?

Having said that.. we could appoint someone good..?

You could also turn your argument on it's head. As both Sunderland and Leeds got relegated well after he left, it could be argued that he did a good job keeping both clubs up in the first place. Given that both clubs were skint and what has happened since to these clubs, that's the view I prefer.

I think we should re sign Levein. He kept us up last year and he didn't take us down this year.

Christ, cheer up folks. We've parted company with Levein. Smile.

Even if we lose every game, we won't have his smug excuses to put up with.

I don't care who we get in as long as they are frank and do entertaining press conferences and interviews and stuff. Holloway is my first choice, although Barry Fry and Martin Allen are in with a shout too. Keegan is obviously there as well.

I'll take that in a jovial spirit because, as a point, there is no comparison!!!

I know you did.

The point I was trying to make was that it wasn't entirely Reid's fault Sunderland (2nd time round) or Leeds were relegated. Yes, he had something to do with it, but you'll never know whether he could have kept them up or not - it's all hypothetical.

As with Levein, yes, we're in the bottom 3, but that doesn't necessarily mean we would have got relegated with him in charge. Levein is responsible for the situation we're in, however, should we go down then it wouldn't be all his fault. Levein could have kept us up, we'll never know now - I'm not suggesting for one minute he would keep us up, I'm just playing Devils Advocate.

As I said, I wouldn't want Reid here anyway, I was merely explaining in more detail the situation behind him.

I certainly won't.. it was time for a change and see if we can turn around this woeful season. Levein finished ina bad season last year and its gotten worse this year... I wouldnt have bet against it being even worse for us next year.. hes built good foundations for us, hopefully now we will get someone with some tactical sense etc that Levein lacked

I was down the gym, and they had Sky Sports News on the TV, I was on the running machine getting knacked had my head down, looked up at the TV the little yellow breaking news ticker appeared saying Levein will leave with immediate effect...The knacked feeling left me and I carried on running for another 10 minutes what a great boost for my running and fitness! lol:thumbup:

ok so hes gone, dont start cheering yet we nned to hope a good manager comes in AND that he actually pulls us out of the relegation zone.

tbh levein did well in the sense of bringing in youth but he just couldnt get them to play together

let's hope mike stowell can talk his old wolves mates into doing the decent thing and gifting us 3 points a week on saturday. They've not got much to play for so I'm sure they'll be only too happy to oblige

If TD reads this site let's make sure he knows who NOT to pick!!! Harry Bassett definitely not, nor Howard Wilkinson. I'm also really pleased but we're now further in the shit because we have to find somebody good(not much out there) and hope it's not too late.

reason for not bassett? his record in this division is quite outstanding.

Not for us it isn't.

We now need a lot more than one point per game.

And his recent record for the saints wasn't that great either!
