Okay cheers. I've also got Dungeon Crawler Carl on my lost too which was mentioned above. They'll keep me busy for a while.

Yeah, Hyperion and it's sequel, Hyperion Cantos are probably my favourite sci fi books.

The Children of Time series is really cool though, I think a new one just got released too. Peak sci fi world building.

10/10 for me. You read the sequel?

Yeah through to Endymion. All class even if Hyperion stands out in the series.

I only read the first two. Worth reading more do do you think?

It's good to complete the Cantos series, but it's not as good as the first.  Not too dissimilar to how Dune played out with the diminishing quality.

Yeah I read four Dune books and stop at that point. Was fun reading about a person turning into a worm but agree they got worse.

Project Hail Mary - thought I’d do the book first before the film.

I had been reading the Three Body Problem series, but got to the second book and it’s a bit chaotic so I struggled with it. First book was decent though.

I've read that the 3 Body Problem is an excellent series of books and much better than the TV series.

Freaky - just posted about this minutes after.

I enjoyed the first book, it’s a great concept. It’s really heavy on the science side of things, to which some of it would lose me in places. The second book seems to jump to different story lines and different characters, which I’ve struggled with. There doesn’t seem to be a main character or anchoring character, which I’ve struggled with personally.

I’ve put the book down for now.

Finished book 7 of Dungeon Crawler Carl. These books really helped get me through it all since I started reading them after Christmas. Given they’re the themes are so much about paranoia over AI breaking free of its safeguarding and finding humanity in exploitation by populist governments and corporate tech giants they really have been the perfect escapist reads for me these time. Already got book 8 pre-ordered for its release on 12th May. I want to start a new series, but waiting until I read book 8 next month first.

So going to read a couple of standalone books in the meantime. Actually started Operation Bounce House also by  Matt Dinniman but thinking of trying some Brandon Sanderson afterwards too.

Yep would definitely agree on both accounts. Bit more info on the previous page I think. But they're incredible books! My favourite ever series.

The 3 Body Problem books definitely sounds interesting. A friend of mind also had great things to say. I might start it next month.

Just read The Long Shoe by Bob Mortimer. Some really funny moments, especially the bit where he's showing the new tenant who's moving in round his house. Once again though, the protagonist is basically Bob himself, but if you can overlook that, it's a fun, easy read.

Which was just what I needed after reading 1984.

Also read The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett. As it's primarily aimed at kids, I'd never read it, but it's perfectly accessible as an adult and I'd argue that it's a bit dark for pre-teens, who might not get a lot of the references either. It's one of my favourite Discworld books now though.

I finished The Long Shoe a few weeks back (Xmas gift) and also enjoyed it. Now onto The Satsuma Complex on Audio book read by Bob himself. It's very similar as you'd imagine but still entertaining enough.

TAM&HER I read a long time ago as a Pratchett fan but I remember liking it. It takes elements of The Pied Piper IIRC?

Yes. I think maybe also there's an element of Stephen King's IT in there too. I especially liked that the rats took their names from words they'd read on discarded packaging in a rubbish tip.

Anna Karenina.

Not quite War & Peace but it's long.

Should really be called Anna Karenina/Konstantin Levin as split story lines (that do partially overlap).

Only halfway through but it's good, on board with the sordidness.

This was great by the way! Not quite what I expected but really fun and fast paced which I was in the mood for. Might give it a few books in between but will probably pick up the next one.
