munf_1987 Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 the season we went up, my cousin was the mascot and i had my leicester top signed by all the players but muzzy was out, i was so gutted as i saved a certain spot for him to sign, when we walked out onto the pitch he was there with his beanie on, made my day. Muzzy is a legend

Muzzy is a legend Couldnt agree with you more, he was such a legend and we could realy do with someone like him to take our freekicks and corners nowadays. Not sure if this link has been posted yet but it sums him up so well
Leicester Lass Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 Great for him to come on the pitch at half time today, I think we should've used him as a substitute though!
Foxy1984 Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 God love him! Him and Lenny were total legends, I remember his first game for us when he was on loan from Chelsea. We were begging for MON to buy him permanently (a bit like Ryan Smith when he first came ) Ill never forget the Watford away game in '96 when we snuck into the play offs by the skin of our teeth, Muzzy scored the winner and a legend was born, the rest as they say is history. God that game sticks in the memory. I was there and sat with the Watdord fans.. no radio to listen to so we didn't know til we got outside the satdium quite waht that goal meant
MC Prussian Posted 26 January 2007 Posted 26 January 2007 How I miss Muzzy! Is there a trophy named after him yet? A statue in front of the Walkers would do it, too.
Joe. Posted 26 January 2007 Posted 26 January 2007 That goal he scored against Grimsby will always remain in my head. What a truly outstanding goal it was. What a legend you are Muz

Muzzy is a legend Ddin't he score that day?? Or the 2nd time went up?? (95-96)
Sods Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 OH ARR MUSTAFA im still in love with him, how much do we need a player like him now
Father Ted Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 As you can probably decipher from my username, Mustafa Kemal Izzet was a bit of a hero to me. Actually, that's wrong, he still is a hero to me. The guy gave everything for us.I remember seeing his name come up on Teletext's transfer deadline day ticker along with Julian Watts. Along with everyone else I thought to myself who the hell is M Izzet? Only brought in on loan initially of course. I remember his debut, coming on as sub and playing tight to the near touchline in the infamous Sheffield United defeat at Filbo. I remember standing on the back row of the Carling Stand singing "O'Neill out, Mustafa in". I remember his jinking runs that day down the touchline, the only player on the pitch worthy of the shirt and he was just some kid I'd never heard of before. And I remember his header at Vicarage Road that got us into the play-offs and relegated Watford on the last day of the season. I remember him winning the penalty that put us back level at Wembley just days later. I remember thanking all the lucky stars in the world when we signed him for £650,000 that summer. I remember all the goals, all the curling efforts from the edge of the box, the bullet free-kick at Middlesbrough, the volley against Tottenham with the Mercury banners pleading for O'Neill to stay. I remember the way you trusted him, Lennon and Savage to give any midfield in the country a run for their money. I remember all the free kicks and corners we took for granted last time we got promoted - what we would give for a player who could deliver a tenth of those balls this season. I remember everything Muzz. All the best for the future in whatever you do. He's now a golfer! He was in the mercury a couple of months ago, he was going to some final in Turkey or something?
Dames Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 One of the best players i ever witnessed. His loyalty and love for Leicester was immense.
Bryn Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 I remember the way you trusted him, Lennon and Savage to give any midfield in the country a run for their money. That stands out for me, a lot of Leicester's recent history is too long ago for me to have appreciated but when we were in the Premiership you knew we were gonna contest. Them three in midfield, Taggart and Elliott at the back. It was unlikely that we'd ever get rolled over.

Ultra Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 Man Utd were unstoppable in the 6-2 and would have rolled over ANY side that day. The Arsenal 5-0 happened three days after we won a League Cup semi and most of the side were injured or hungover. And the Arsenal 6-1 happened under P***r T****r - enough said!

Muzzy still has his heart in the city- he still loves the place and i can only take my hat off to him. does his brother still play for colchester? or did they recently sell him? The interesting thing about Izzet was that O'neill was quoted £60,000 before taking him on loan but preferred to see him playing first team footbal first. Still, even though the fee shot up no one would doubt it was one of the best peices of buisness of recent times.

Still at Colchester, but apparently unsettled. Looked pretty decent last season, but not likely to rise above Championship level.
