Milan Mandaric has targeted leicester!

Still no proper news, Milan and the club slap down speculation that the deal's dead and today Milan slapped down talk of him being behind a bid for Cardiff... hmmm, then again (diffrent magnitude altogether i know) the Liverpool take over is taking much longer than expect and isnt thought it to be completed until late March or even April, if things really had (or where about to) collapse MM would have made a comment of some kind through the press, as that hasnt happened i still think the deal is very much alive and the its more issues like the ownership of the ground etc... which represent the snag that's held up the takeover... well I can hope

he denies it but i never seen this as a possibility so it has gave me something else to worry bout.

Now there's a curent administration determined to block new money coming in. One reason why:

"The Western Mail understands Hammam is far from happy with the way he has been perceived in Wales since news of potential complications broke out.

He has even told confidantes that the club is threatening to remove the life presidency title he was to receive on stepping down as chairman.

It would mean Hammam would no longer be given seats at Cardiff matches and would lose his reserved parking space at Ninian Park."

It's a mark against Mandaric being friendly with that tosser, though.

I've always felt MM is not backwards in coming forwards as far as "the media" is concerned, whether that be print or TV. Notwithstanding due diligence which precludes MM from making comment on the process, the lack of any Serbian protestations makes me think that the deal is still on track.

If you see MM on the telly(before any announcement of the deal going through) .......panic, wave goodbye to our better players and prepare for 10 years of watching crap football.

Good point, he'd want to save face and make sure people knew the state of the books...

As far as 'hidden debts' go, could they really be large enough to derail the process? My thinking is that they wouldn't be substantial.

...it also says that MM hopes to have the takeover done by January still (no quote, just from the journalist), that seems impossible now surely.

The more you hear from both MM and the club seems like there actually might be legitmate legal/acounting hurdles that are having to be delt with rather than either side trying to proactivley shaft the deal... if thats the case once they have been cleared then i'd have thought the deal will go through pretty quickly (what ever the FT might think)... though i dont think for a second it'll be all sorted by the start of the window, once (if) an offer is put forward i cant see folks pissing about, well thats a lie i could see our Club pissing about... but still they cant be that stupid, so I'm willing to suspend disbelife and anticipate them promptly doing the right thing, the alternative is too depressing.

IMO and it may just be because I want this to happen... put yourself in MM's shoes, if you thought there was a slight chance of things not goin thru you wouldn't keep saying its on course and things gonna be wrapped up by Jan. He's playing with peoples hearts if he knows its not goin thru...

Knickers to it all...it's still City whoever the owner is and regardless of how money we have or haven't got. We need the 3 points tomorrow and it's nearly Christmas so I'm gonna forget about all this cr** have a few pints and a laugh, :D then go and cheer the lads on..(which is what it's all about at the end of the day!)

This would seem sensible, but it is Leicester City Football Club so if can be fecked up, it will.:whistle::ph34r:

Milan Mandaric today categorically pinned his colours to the Leicester City mast.

As his £25million takeover bid drags on, the American-Serbian tycoon dismissed rumours linking him with Cardiff City, who visit the Walkers Stadium tomorrow.

It is thought that Cardiff owner Sam Hammam, who is a close friend of Mandaric, has had talks with other potential backers to fund a new takeover deal at Ninian Park.

But Mandaric underlined his commitment to City by insisting that he was solely focused on completing his buy-out.

And he denied suggestions he was behind a consortium to seize control at Cardiff.

"There's no truth in it whatsoever," Mandaric told the South Wales Echo.

"My current focus is trying to complete my takeover at Leicester. That is my sole aim at the current time and not Cardiff. I can categorically say that."

Mandaric's bid for City was given the green light by the board and the shareholders at an extraordinary general meeting five weeks ago.

Since then, a period of due diligence by his business advisors has uncovered increased debts, but he hopes to complete his takeover in time for the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, manager Robert Kelly has warned City to be wary of a Cardiff backlash.

Kelly said Cardiff would be "smarting" from their 4-1 Championship defeat at Hull and desperate to put it right. Kelly described the Bluebirds as a "wounded animal", likening them to City after they lost by the same score to Sheffield Wednesday earlier this month.

Kelly said: "Cardiff are up and around the play-offs and are a dangerous team for us to play.

"They are coming off the back of some poor results and they will be smarting. After getting beaten at Hull they are a wounded animal and will be dangerous.

"I know what we were like after we lost 4-1. We couldn't wait for the next game. We wished we could play the very next day because we wanted to put it right, and I think that they will be no different at all.

"We aren't getting carried away - those games are gone. They give you confidence and something to build on."

Since you have put exactly what we think I don't get the negative reference?

Ah-Ha! Now we're getting somwhere :P ...still my point was more that once (if  ) an offer comes through it's likley to be accepted fairly quickly rather than taking a long time as the FT has previously hinted, the point at the moment is that it seems factors beyond the direct control of either MM or LCFC are slowing down the take-over.

Nothing much thats very new in this, but its probably relevant...

MANDARIC BID STALLS

Coca Cola CHAMPIONSHIP

MILAN MANDARIC'S £25million take over at Leicester is threatening to drag on into the New Year - but says he is determined to complete the deal.

Mandaric's bid is in serious danger of not being completed in time for boss Rob Kelly to bring in rein forcements in the January transfer window.

And the delay over the cash-injection from the former Portsmouth owner has raised fears that Kelly could be forced to sell one of his prize assets.

Rival Championship clubs have all been checking on Iain Hume and Patri ck Kisnorbo, while former Foxes boss Martin O'Neill and Charlton Athletic have targeted Richard Stearman.

...the point about Kisnorbo, Stearman and Hume is well made, we need to get this deal sorted as fast as possible and the board needs to have the balls not to permit the sale of players in January otherwise we'll have dramatically weakened our squad just when our rivals are strengthening theirs

Find the Stearman rumours very disappointing since the story was published by journalist Paul Smith, the same one who is "close" to MM

I for one would not mind if he went, he has been cack this season. He may need someone like MON to push on his career and for a bid rising to 2 million it would be a good deal for both parties.

Oh dear...

Milan: I'm missing Pompey

Milan Mandaric today confessed: I can't believe how much I'm missing Pompey.

The former Blues chairman revealed selling the club to Sacha Gaydamak had left a massive void in his life.

Mandaric admitted the goodwill of Pompey supporters towards him and the passion they showed for their team had been hard to replace.

The Serb has been watching games all over Europe and has been in talks about a takeover at Leicester.

But he has not felt the same buzz as he got from being involved at Fratton Park and the club he saved from extinction in 1999.

Mandaric said: 'Not having Portsmouth in my life is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. I miss Portsmouth and I miss the people.

'I have so many happy memories and thoughts about the club and the city.I developed a bond with the people of Portsmouth.

'It didn't matter if it was a taxi driver or the Lord Mayor. I got the same positive feeling for me. And I miss it.

'The other day I was getting on to a flight. I was checking in and the girl said to me "do you realise how much we miss you?"

'I asked her why and what she was talking about and she told me she was from Portsmouth. That had an effect on me.

'There were some difficulties in my time in charge. But that is one of the things that makes it special.

'You need to come through the dark days to appreciate the good ones.

'I'm proud of what I did for the club and where they are today. I'm happy for the supporters.

'They welcomed me into the city and they thought of me as one of their own. You can't buy that kind of bond.

'I still feel like a Pompey fan and of course I'm a happier person when they win.

'That will never change. I'm delighted Harry has still got the boys playing so well.'

Mandaric's bid to take over at Leicester has hit difficulties this week after more debt was uncovered at the midlands outfit.

He has also shot down talk of a move to take over at Cardiff.

The 68-year-old is keen to remain in football but a sensational return to Fratton is not on the cards.

He said: 'The situation is up in the air at Leicester. That is where my focus is at the moment.

'But I don't know if it is the right time for me and the right time for the club.'
