Mandaric's boys' spinning, I reckon. I'd think it highly unlikely that an offer has been made. As a plc, the club would have to announce it.

No formal legal offer document no, further indicative bid version???.we have lost count, yes. So nothing put to shareholders as yet.

The Trust Observer attended an LCFC board meeting this week, wouldn't expect any further news until next week earliest.

Our best estimate is that it will be sorted one way or the other during January, not sure how early but everybody is aware of the transfer window (although loans are still an option after then).

Yes I was there...I watched Weller as a lad and that moment was special to me...but there were a few idiots in L1 that acted disgracefully and should have kept quiet as well, in a way that hurt me more!

Deadline is missed!

Milan Mandaric's takeover of Leicester City will not be completed before Monday - the opening of the transfer window.

But I understand that his £25million buy-out may be in place before the end of next month if the current talks on his latest terms come to fruition in time.

This would give manager Robert Kelly time to strengthen his squad - although how much time, and how much quality, would still be available in the transfer market is uncertain.

More realistically, though, the chances are that any big-money investment will occur in the summer, and that loan deals from now until the end of the season are more likely.

The club claim that Mandaric's buy-out plan is still on course - but Kelly has to concentrate on the playing side and admitted that the disappointing lack of cash is a far-from-new experience for him.

He landed free agent Danny Cadamarteri this week, but it was a deal partly funded by the loan wages of winger Andy Welsh who returned to Sunderland.

Kelly said: "I am pleased I can get a player of Cadamarteri's pedigree and calibre because there is no money.

"No disrespect but that's the reason we have got him and Danny knows that. We couldn't go out and make even loan signings and I can't wait to find out what might happen with the takeover.

"I've got to deal with where we are now which is exactly the same situation as we always have been, no money available. I am grateful to the board for the little bit of money to sign Danny - but that is where we are and I can't do any more."

On the plus side, however, the threat of Kelly losing his best players during the transfer window would seem to have receded because, with the Mandaric deal in the offing, City would hardly want to lose key men before the new owner has taken his place.

In between all this, after today's trip to Southampton, football is set to break out again on Monday when Sunderland arrive the Walkers Stadium - and Kelly feels this will stretch his resources again.

He said: "At Christmas, it was bad enough playing Saturday and Tuesday, now it is Saturday and Monday which makes it harder - but we will just have to get on with it."

Erm, we were in the championship with some players with salaries so high we could not give them away ( Elliot, Walker, Izzett to name just three ) together with an arrangement to pay the taxman and Vatman some of the debts of the previous regime.. The shareholders, God Bless 'em, took on what in effect was a basket case.

Disagree, the club was in a better situation then it is now.

For some reason i dont really beleive that RK would comment on the current money situation at the club, ok yer the source you got this from is normally pretty reliable but i seriously dont think hed be able to release information like this without getting the sack. and although what he has apparently said is probably true im sure there is ways we can get money for loans, e.g loaning out some of the shite we are keeping at the club to be bench warmers with a call back clause, selling de vreis, selling o'grady. and about the games on saturday and monday ffs they are all pretty young and they are all professionals, not like two games in 4 days is going to kill you, infact they should be fit enough to that. one season for the whole season i played on saturday and sunday!

Oh no thats it then were gonna be relegated to the conference eh!!!....

I hope for all your sakes that you dont have Mandari take over you! He's one of the most corrupt in football and an ex skate!

If you want to keep the Pompey debate up and running, this is not quite the place to be!

Hurry up and smash yer heads to mashed potatoes back South, hear me?

I'm sure we all secretly know you're right but are past caring if he can save us from the abyss and get us back into the prem.p.s. we couldn't give a toss about the skate bit.

And add to that the ever predictable 'we haven't got the largest squad in the world, so we'll have to be careful blah blah blah. All I can say to that is, Stearman, Sheehan, Sylla, O'Grady, Wesolowski, Dodds, Kenton etc, In short, you've got a perfectly reasonably sized squad Rob. Just try playing some of them occasionally.

Posted

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't - moaning en masse if Sylla and O'Grady are picked for the weekend.

That's why he's manager. He's paid to manage. My point is he has a squad of 23/23 players, with only one out injured at the moment. He has alternatives - admittedly not particularly attractive ones in some cases - to the 11 he picks

Also worth noting that three of your above players are deffenders, two are youth strikers and one's an abysmal winger. It's not like we've got widespread strength in every position, either.

I think it's fair to call our squad thin, really.

Getting back to the topic, whispers reach me that the City board have SPLIT over whether to accept Mandy's bid or not.

Sources present at Southampton yesterday have let it be known that the value is way too low and there have been NO guarantees given about the future of the Way or the training ground, or whether funds will be given to strengthen the squad.

If Mandy presents the bid to shareholders directly, the chances are it'll be turned down.

One director has quit already and others look likely to follow.

It looks like the fears that some of us had about Mandy have now been realised.

Not a great end to the year, but that's how it is...

A month ago it was all certain and positive.

But the truth is if we fook up this deal because of a 'split', we are scuppered for the next decade at least

Don't be so melodramatic!

If Colchester, with no money and no fans, can make a go of it in this league there's absolutely NO reason why we shouldn't do so...

They have damn site more money than us and no crippling depts... in short their in a far better position than we ever will be till we sort ourselves out fiscally, and i dont see any prospect of that happening without new leadership at the club and nor does anyone else frankly.

They have NO more money than us. Any that they have is going towards their new ground.

Nor do they have the backing of mega-corporations like Walkers or Alliance& Leicester.

Their average crowd is less than 6000 and their playing budget is probably a fifth the size of ours.

Yet they lie ELEVEN points, and eleven places, ahead of us in the table. That speaks volumes for the quality of the management, past and present, at our club.

Unless and until that problem is addressed, let alone resolved, we will continue to struggle.

Our problems have little to do with money. It's time some fans woke up to that fact.
