Matt Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Mandaric jets in to sign deal - Leicester Mercury Milan Mandaric is cutting short his holiday to fly back and help to finally secure his takeover of Leicester City. The Serbian-American tycoon is aware that time is of the essence because of the January transfer window and his eagerness to get to grips with boosting the club's fortunes. Putting the finishing touches to the paperwork is all that stands in the way of completing the deal, and it is even possible Mandaric might arrive in time to see tomorrow's FA Cup third-round tie against Fulham at the Walkers Stadium. That will very much depend on his travel schedule working out, but the main thing is that Mandaric is on his way - in more ways than one. Earlier this week, it emerged that the City board had accepted, in principle, Mandaric's new terms, amended after due diligence, and that the deal could now be accelerated. It was the second green light that Mandaric had received after the shareholders gave him their backing in November. And, shortly before leaving his holiday base in Hawaii, Mandaric praised the City board for their efforts, as well as hailing the club's supporters. He said: "I welcome the support of the Leicester City board in what has been a long, drawn-out and, at times, frustrating process. "I am sure those frustrations are equally shared among the shareholders and supporters but, hopefully, we are moving forward positively towards the conclusion of a deal that will help stabilise the club and take it forward. "I have untold respect for the shareholders who saved this club which, together with the overwhelming backing from the club's supporters, have been instrumental factors in ensuring my commitment to securing a deal." The signs are that the takeover will be finalised at some stage next week - or the week after at the latest - so there could still be two weeks of the transfer window left for City boss Robert Kelly to operate. However, with tomorrow's cup clash uppermost in his mind, the City boss is not going to be distracted by the imminent takeover. He said: "I have left all of this to others at the club to sort out. We cannot start thinking about matters we can't have any effect on."
Ric Flair Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Mandaric jets in to sign deal - Leicester Mercury I'm going to try................... No, I will stay calm...................... Let's not get carried away here....... **** it, time for a beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hullfox Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Very thorough letter with one or two anomalies. When dealing with MM direct though I hope they spell his name correctly.

Louise Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 I must say I'm a little perplexed at people being admonished for having concerns about the MM deal. Fine if you don't want to think about the financial side then don't, but everyone who was around when we were in admin knows how vitally important these details are and can be for the future of the club. Perhaps there is an over-reaction, but when it's an emotive issue that is understandable. I have no problem with people who just want to watch the football and don't care about off-the-field stuff, but personally I want to be certain that the club is going to be around in 20-years time so that everyone can continue doing that. Plus I find it really interesting
Fox in a Box Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 It'll be done in time for the Marketing dept. to use it as a sales too for the BRUM game on the 19th Me thinks.. NEW BOARD ...... BRUM GAME ...MUST BUY TICKETS!!!

Master Fox Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 SPOT ON!~!! and I want to be like Berny when I'm older still having a club to support! Smelling of bins and looking like you haven't had a wash or a change of clothes since the 1970's..??
Geo V Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 (To the tune of my old mans a dustman) Milan`s come to Leicester, to take us to the topand dispel all the bad vibes, that we are near the dropThat wont happen in Leicester, as we fight to the deathUnlike those Forest ba**ards, who`ll always be ineptSTAYING DOWN, STAYING DOWN, STAYING DOWN!!! Sorry for the shite chant but Im delighted its finally happening!!! Watch us go people! Yes we have had bad times but we have had great times in the last 10 years too and we can hope to return to similar success again. Loads of clubs who are supposedly bigger than ours havent had any success in recent times, ask Newcastle fans!! MM is coming to us and NOT to the likes of Wolves, Derby, Cardiff, Coventry, etc etc. That means something. Lets back the old sod to get us up there! Wooooooooooo!!
mancunianfox Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Its like that Mercury article is almost a direct response to the Trust's email as it gives completely different information.
Surreal Madrid Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Its like that Mercury article is almost a direct response to the Trust's email as it gives completely different information. Mockery's up to its usual standard then.
Louise Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 RL reporting the w/c 15th as when the shareholders will get the document, 'the reason for which is so far unknown'. They're watching! Come on RL, do some real journalism and tell us something we don't know. Bunch of part-timers.

Chrysalis Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 glad the trust are getting position on advisory board its tamed them somewhat and they will still be involved in the club
luffbra Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 glad the trust are getting position on advisory board its tamed them somewhat and they will still be involved in the club well said... I'm concerned that the Foxes Trust are run by people who enjoy the status... I was a member originally (I'm not anymore) - and the reason I left was because I felt they weren't representing the average fan (which is all I am really). I really hope that they back the takeover
Geo V Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 I`m not in the trust and dont declare too know too much about the politics of any takeover deal but what I cant grasp is how the fudge we are taking so long to get this deal done? Most takeovers are usually quite clean and clear but this one is dragging its heels bigtime
Joe. Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Fantastic Looks like he's finally going to sign on the dotted line and we'll all have something to smile about.

Most takeovers are usually quite clean and clear but this one is dragging its heels bigtime I would say this par for the course, Liverpools is still on gonig, Newcastle's has died a death. The length of time is also distorted by how long it's been in the public domain.
lookwhaticando Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Very thorough letter with one or two anomalies. When dealing with MM direct though I hope they spell his name correctly. They should sack their communications guy for that.
He's not bald Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 They should sack their communications guy for that. Just been announced on BBC Leicester news that the deal is going to be delayed by 10 days because a "bid document" has been mislayed! Now am I missing something here?? We have a high profile deal worth millions between a globe trotting tycoon and an english professional football club, presumably both parties would have reasonably competent financial teams and they have managed to lose a document that is so important it's going to delay the takeover by ten days of an already reduced transfer window!!!! I ain't buying it...what the fcuk is going on?

lookwhaticando Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Nothing has been 'mislayed', RL were simply quoting what they have read from the Foxes Trust on several message boards over the last few days. Probably a mix up... thought they were looking for the mysterious Manderic bid.
reynard Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Probably a mix up... thought they were looking for the mysterious Manderic bid. they actually said that the official bid document was not expected to be delivered for another 10 days. if that's true then various reports don't seem to add up. also if true no way deal could be done in time for transfer window or even for loan period?
