davieG Posted 9 January 2007 Author Posted 9 January 2007 I must of missed it, I've only recently started reading this thread again as TBH it got boring. I only read the bits in quotes so I don't think the Mercs way of putting it really has had much of a effect on my opinion. It's a stupid statement, I don't want to hear that certain shareholders are against it, of course they are whats their point? The shareholders probabley were a bit unsure back at the EGM but it's January now and the Board have advised that the offer be accepted so I obviously something has changed, it's a totally needless statment which drags up the EGM for no reason. I think most member of the FT are well aware of what the Mercury are like with out E-mail like that being sent to them, I'm unsuprised the Merc have used it to their advantage, it's not hard to make the FT look stupid and the mercury have proved this by showing even they can manage it. Well I'm a FT member and I was keen to see how things were going andwelcomed the email message, strange as it may seem to some, and their communications on websites have been poor I actually TRUST the FT version of events much more than anything the Merc publishes. Maybe you don't want to hear this information and you wouldn't have if it hadn't been for the Merc but FT members obviously do.
Chrysalis Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 I have quietened down on my posts recently, it is clear either the FT or the mercury are going to be proven wrong on this over the next week or two, just a wait and see now.

I doubt anyone will be proved right or wrong, I believe the buyout will go ahead, we will never be told the real facts of the negotiations. The FT will ballot their members and get a yes vote, will get a place on the 'advisory board' which is not against anything they've wanted. The Merc will say we said it first as MM takes over, but we will never know how much money MM will put into the club, no one knows for sure how much if any he made out of Portsmouth.
FNQ Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 Anyone hear what was said on the H&J show (TalkSport). I couldn't really hear it but they did a quite long interviewwith someone, no idea who. The only thing i kept hearing was Milan Mandaric and Leicester.
who-izzet Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 I read today that LCFC are looking towards a plan B incase the Mandaric deal falls through. Being away from Leicester I don't get to hear all the gossip although I check nearly every website I know for latest updates. What I was wondering... Could plan B look something like this..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ers/6244319.stm Although he has football knowledge, I expect he would be a very interfearing chairman with the team. Whats your opinions on this possibility though?
Mort Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 I read today that LCFC are looking towards a plan B incase the Mandaric deal falls through. The plan B would be to creat more shares and generate some cash i expect, but thats assuming that the current shareholders or anyone else would be interested... in reality there is not viable plan B, the articule in Merc was based on FT press release that was out some time before the current batch of stores came out, things all seem to have a new momentum at present, and this has been compounded by the board admistion that without investment or a take-over, relegation and adminisration are very real threats for the Club.

No worries the deal will go through..this time next year we will be sitting pretty in the Championship table and looking forward to prem football season 08/09...keep the faith boys
renards Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 The Mail 10/1 'He is expected to take charge within the next 48 hours' !!!????
luffbra Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 The Mail 10/1 'He is expected to take charge within the next 48 hours' !!!???? Have to say I'll be surprised if that's the case, but you never know ... (fingers crossed and all that!)
luffbra Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 And if anyone's interested, here's the link - the quote is about half way down!
Walkers Wonderkid Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 And if anyone's interested, here's the link - the quote is about half way down! And, despite rumours that Milan Mandaric would be interested - the former Portsmouth chairman will assume control at Leicester City in the next 48 hours - Souness has emerged as a surprise contender to take over. yeah if you just read that bit then you would get the wrong idea. poor wording.
amitoo Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 Milan Mandaric has been running the rule over Leicester City both on and off the field in the past few days as his takeover of the club enters its final stages.Mandaric met office staff at the Walkers Stadium, attended meetings and yesterday watched City's behind-closed-doors friendly against League Two Mansfield Town at the Belvoir Drive training ground. He was also at City's 2-2 draw with Premiership Fulham in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend. All this activity indicates that his takeover - sanctioned by the board and now awaiting only the closing formalities - will be completed within the transfer window which has three weeks left to run. Yesterday, Mandaric held a lengthy touchline conversation with City boss Robert Kelly after arriving at the training ground for the second half of the friendly. He underlined his assertion that City have good, young players emerging who need the help of experienced signings who he hopes to be able to supply. City won 5-0, with goals from Louis Dodds (3), Max Gradel and Andy King - and fielded a strong side which included Conrad Logan, Richard Stearman, Darren Kenton, Nisse Johansson, Danny Cadamarteri, Chris O'Grady, James Wesolowski. Midfielder Andy Johnson also made his return to competitive action after missing the past 11 matches through injury. For Kelly, the greatest value was in the action, not the scoreline as, without a reserve side, these friendlies are proving very important. He said: "It was a good exercise. Darren Kenton got an hour, so did Andy Johnson and the more players we can have fully fit in the next few weeks the better. "It was a busy period over the holidays and now, with the Fulham replay, we are going to have two midweek games in the next three weeks so it is important. "Players can cover the ground in a proper match because you cannot really replicate what they need to do in training as well as you can do in a game." Could this really mean the deal could soon be done?? or is it more bull shiit from our friend Bill
Master Fox Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 Could this really mean the deal could soon be done?? or is it more bull shiit from our friend Bill I think it could well be ? Bill doesn't talk cr*p.

Graz Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 See I tend to trust the FT more than the Merc, since the FT are actually in on what is happening and Bill Anderson isn't. But, everywhere other than the FT are still saying Mandaric will be in control by the game on Saturday... seems weird. We'll find out who's right in the next 2 days I suppose.
Mort Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 Have we been over the whole FT/Merc sinanigans enougth already? The Merc are sensationalist and generally dont know what their talking about... though they'll usually throw up what's writen on this board four or five days later, the FT are no doubt well intentioned but counter balance this by being a self-important and fragmented little cabal that is very hard to take seriously... take your pick... their both exasperating, personally I'd like a reflective fans organisation and a local paper that actually provides some decent reporting! (their match reports are worse than Barber... the number of times i read how well Josh Low and Andy Johnson did !)

Stevosevic Posted 11 January 2007 Posted 11 January 2007 http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/details.asp?b...6269754|p|536|0 dont know if this has been posted, but it says Mandaric had a lengthy chat with RK during the friendly the other day. maybe hes been told how much money he will have + is getting rid of players such as Low, Welsh and Sylla to prepare for this. someone else said this in another thread.

Parky Posted 11 January 2007 Posted 11 January 2007 Does anyone think that if Milan had bought Wolves then we would have been on the receiving end of the Souness bid? Also do you think they waited till the Milan Leicester deal was practically done and dusted before they started talking?

ThurmastonFox Posted 11 January 2007 Posted 11 January 2007 Hmm, but Souness consortium only seems to have £20m, every one knows that City will cost £25m
Geo V Posted 11 January 2007 Posted 11 January 2007 Hmm, but Souness consortium only seems to have £20m, every one knows that City will cost £25m I`d much prefer a bid from someone who is proven in buying footy clubs as aposed to a footy manager who wants to give it a bash like Souness. MM for me all day but bloody hurry up!!!!
