James. Posted 12 January 2007 Posted 12 January 2007 so then, what's the latest? i've just read through the last couple of pages and there's very little in the way of actual news. also, on the other sticky thread nothing has been posted since the 9th. i'm a little nervous. can anyone shed any light?
Swedging Posted 12 January 2007 Posted 12 January 2007 The Daily Mail, 48 hours ago, were saying that the deal would be 'completed in the next 48 hours'. The Mockery have said that the deal would be completed by the middle of this week. More realistically, the Trust said just over a week ago that the formal offer was expected today.
Daggers Posted 12 January 2007 Posted 12 January 2007 i'm a little nervous. can anyone shed any light? I asked my Posty and he said it'll be done and dusted by Saturday lunchtime...but he admitted to knowing nothing about it at all - which puts him on par with as good as anyone that has posted in this entire thread

I've not added any of the current newspaper reports because they are giving conflicting completion dates, they can't all be right, with a bit of luck one of them may have stumbled on the correct date, I'm not prepared to second guess that or pander to their sensationalising of the takeover by putting their ramblings in the 'formal' topic. Other Mods/Admin may take a different view.

Louise Posted 12 January 2007 Posted 12 January 2007 For anyone wondering why no comments from the Foxes Trust, this was posted on foxfanzine: Continued message board silence for a few days ahead, as we now reach the key phase of the takeover

davieG Posted 12 January 2007 Author Posted 12 January 2007 For anyone wondering why no comments from the Foxes Trust, this was posted on foxfanzine: Can one assume they received the formal bid?
Louise Posted 12 January 2007 Posted 12 January 2007 It may just be that with the whole Mercgate that they've decided they can't win so they're not commenting anymore until it's over and someone is 'proved right'. Don't think they've posted on a message board since about Tuesday, so they could have gotten the bid and be mulling it over, but they themselves predicted that MM wouldn't send the bid until today. Either way it would indicate that the whole saga is close to finishing though, and no more comments on message boards is the correct way to behave at the moment for the FT I think.

amitoo Posted 12 January 2007 Posted 12 January 2007 The words 'Key stage of the take-over' explains it. Bid is in or expected very, very shortly. So once the bid is in, and accpeted how many more years will we have to wait till MM is the actual owner of the club and can give RK money to get talent inn so we can shoot up this disgraceful league we surely don't belong in...

Louise Posted 12 January 2007 Posted 12 January 2007 Oh, hang on... Held to ransom? By Andy Mann The Foxes Trust fear Leicester City could be held to ransom in the transfer market if Milan Mandaric takes over the club. The Trust, which has criticised the Mercury for reporting that Mandaric's bid for the club amounts to £25million, said the figure was misleading to supporters and could lead to the club paying inflated prices for new players. Trust chairman Ian Bason, who declined to put another figure on Mandaric's offer, said: "We don't think it benefits any party to quantify the bid, particularly as it changes. "The risk of inflated transfer fees and wage demands is a real concern. "Even now, we still have fans coming up to us believing £25m cash will be arriving next month because they have read the figure so frequently." Mandaric told the Mercury in November the figure of £25m was "not far away" when all the elements, such as removing the millstone of the near £16m stadium debt and buying the shares, were tallied up. Bason said: "When the consortium took over the club (following administration), all the Mercury coverage talked of a £5m or £6m takeover bid and ignored the stadium finance. "It is inconsistent reporting to do so now as you could argue the consortium bid then was close to £25m too." Mandaric has always asserted he will take on the debt whereas the consortium did not. Bason's comments were included in replies to a set of questions the Mercury posed to the Trust. The questions followed an email from the Trust to members warning the deal was not done and dusted. This move came despite the board being expected to recommend the bid to shareholders in the coming days. Bason said: "We believe the board will recommend it too. However with (former director) James Johnson having resigned, the remaining board members personally control only 33 per cent of the shareholding. "We are aware of some shareholders who will certainly support it. "However, we believe there are several differing reasons why some shareholders won't, and know this to be the case from various conversations we have had. "I would point out we have stated a neutral position to any shareholder we have talked to, saying we still awaited answers to a number of questions before we could declare our support or otherwise." Bason said that while Mandaric was approachable his "track record shows questionable judgement on managers". He criticised Mandaric for "selling his bid to fans via the Mercury rather than focusing on shareholders who make the final decision, and added: "This will cost him votes". Bason also said the initial "indicative" bid lacked sufficient detail and he was concerned that the "final bid document "will leave too many questions still unanswered". He said the formal document is expected early next week. The Trust, which has between 900 and 1,000 members, hopes to retain some, if not all, of its £151,000 worth of shares in the event of a takeover. It is also hopeful of an advisory role. Bason said: "Ideally we would like to retain them all, some or even a token single share. "As Mandaric speaks of his affinity to fans we feel he should allow a democratic City fans organisation to retain a shareholding as a symbol of his relationship with the fans. "We view this as an emotional, not financial issue. The club could be handed over to a non-City fan for the first time. A symbolic retention of a shareholding with the Trust for the long term leaves a thread of City fan ownership, even if it is a minimal percentage." He added: "The existence of the advisory board was mentioned in the initial indicative offer. "We spoke to Mandaric's representative, discussed our present level of involvement, and we were subsequently told we would have a position on the advisory board if the takeover was successful. "It will be important for Mandaric to ensure he is aware of likely local reaction to various potential decisions he could make and we can obviously offer guidance in this area." http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/details.asp?b...6269754|p|536|0
sackmycook Posted 12 January 2007 Posted 12 January 2007 first of all as another member said i think MM will bring us experienced players on for little fees but good wages. and secondly i'd rather be held to ransom than not be in the market for any players. your time is up FT just go gracefully or we will just hate you.
Ric Flair Posted 12 January 2007 Posted 12 January 2007 Oh, hang on... It's all very well and good the Foxes Trust questioning Mandaric and some of things he's done in the past. But why the **** didn't they do this with the current board?. And before any says they might have done, I seriously doubt it. They have been up the board's rear end's ever since the trust was set up. Their all in it together, a very apt slogan. Us fans have wanted The Trust to question the board on various occasions and if it meant getting it published in The Mercury then so be it. It would probably cause more of a reaction and show their intentions that they won't be pissed about by the board. Mandaric has appointed questionable managers? Hahaaaaaa, what about our current board? Our managers under the current board have led us to battle relegation for 4 seasons running! The cheek of it. They've yet again proved what a bunch of neanderthals they are.
Master Fox Posted 12 January 2007 Posted 12 January 2007 I think if we send the Foxes Trust some death threats they might just finally get the message
