2 old films as recommendations for younger people maybe not familiar or for anyone that missed them. The Parallex View and Executive Action.

Parallex View is great! One from Pakula's paranoia trilogy.

The book is fantastic. Read it as couple of years ago and it absolutely hooked me.

I enjoyed it. Quite a refreshing film that tries to be different. It gets more right than it gets wrong. A solid 7.9/10 for me.

Watched Alien Romulus last night.  Really enjoyed it, lots of nods to the first two Alien films, but different enough to stand alone.  Imo much more entertaining than the rather dull Prometheus and and Alien Covenant.

Enjoyed Gladiator II,  though it did kind of fall apart in the last few minutes. They could never had topped the emotional pay off at the end of the first one so with this one, they just didn't seem to try. It just sort of... ended. Otherwise enjoyable flick with some great performances - Denzel was brilliant and you could tell he was enjoying himself, Mescal was very good and will be a major star before long. Pedro Pascal was just Pedro Pascal, and Joseph Quinn was excellent. Enjoyed Ed Sheeran as his brother.

The Substance was absolutely outstanding and I wish I'd seen it in the cinema.

Heretic was enjoyable but ultimately forgettable, though had a good performance form Grant.

Glad I resisted the Ridley Scott film Napoleon. The idea that Napoleon personally lead a cavalry charge at Waterloo is ridiculous. This got me thinking about other modern war films. 1970 Waterloo probably superior to Napoleon. 1958 version of Dunkirk better than the Nolan update.

The old movie reviewed by History buffs...

Agree on that even if I had to go to Burton to see it.

Saw Conclave last night, Ralph Feinnes was superb and a very good film.

Having said that I felt a little let down by the ending , *spoiler alert* you could see the most blatantly obvious ending from about 20 minutes into the film and it just played out. They threw in a twist at the very end but for me it didn’t really do enough to convince me it was the ending the film deserved.

Saw this when I was in my teens, 1946 and a little known classic...

Did you catch the  Martin Scorcese programme on the BBC about Powell and Pressburger. This film was among those featured

Nope, just remember the movie from sometime ago, because it was so unique.

This part of it?

Saw it today. Loved it. I must be a thicko because I didn’t see the twist coming at all 😂

Yes I think so. Apparently Martin got to know Michael Powell just as his career took off. He loved A Matter  of Life And Death. I think the film is very good and helped by having David Niven in the main lead. Also interesting that Powell often used same stable of actors in his films. Roger Livesey, Deborah Kerr, Anton Walbrook, Kathleen Byron and Marius Goring
