New Manager?

It makes me laugh on here how many people say they want Curbishley, i'd love him to come as he did a great job at Charlton. But I get the feeling people think having him would mean a turn about in fortunes over night!!

He was at Charlton for quite a while before they ever got promoted, same with Mandaric at Portsmouth. People expectations seemed to have soared already, so I dread to think what they would be like if we did actually get them both.

The reactionary Leicester fans on here will be going wild if we aren't in the promotion frame come the end of next season.

Curbishley sounds as boring as others we've had - and I don't think he'd find it anywhere near as easy at Leicester as he did on familiar territory in London. Charlton hardly looked inspired when we stuffed em in the Cup.

I thought Leicester would be mid-table at best this season and the fact they're not doesn't surprise me at all. But I have been even more disappointed at the standard of opposition I think it's mostly our lack of enterprise, commitment to winning and imagination that has prevented us making a top six challenge.

If we're going to change bosses we need someone who has those qualities. Instead of someone who needs a few seasons to get it right we need someone with a bit of genuine and immediate impact. We need a visionary not a functionary - otherwise we might as well stick.

If Kevin Keegan were available that might offer the prospect of some real attacking football providing he's still got the hunger and has kept up with who's who on the footballing circuit. I'm sure he'd soon have the club talked about and buzzing just like MON did.

I can't seee him fielding seven defenders and two potential scorers!

We've gotta start thinking special to be special.

Please Thracian, the mans a buffon who is getting worse with age. He's also a shadow of the manager he used to be.

'The tide is very much in our court now.'

'Chile have three options - they could win or they could lose.'

'That would have been a goal if it wasn't saved.'

'A tremendous strike which hit the defender full on the arm - and it nearly came off.'

'The good news for Nigeria is that they're two-nil down very early in the game'

'The substitute is about to come on - he's a player who was left out of the starting line-up today.'

'That decision, for me, was almost certainly definitely wrong.'

'I know what is around the corner - I just don't know where the corner is. But the onus is on us to perform and we must control the bandwagon.'

'Hungary is very similar to Bulgaria. I know they're different countries...'

'In some ways, cramp is worse than having a broken leg.'

'The 33 or 34-year-olds will be 36 or 37 by the time the next World Cup comes around, if they're not careful.'

'England have the best fans in the world and Scotland's fans are second-to-none'

'It's understandable that people are keeping one eye on the pot and another up the chimney.'

'I'd love to be a mole on the wall in the Liverpool dressing room at half-time.'

'It could be far worse for me if it was easy for me.'

'Discipline is not only very important, it's crucial.'

'Young Gareth Barry - he's young'

'Argentina won't be at Euro 2000 because they're from South America.'

'They're the second best team in the world, and there's no higher praise than that.'

'You don't get two chances at this level, or at any other level for that matter.'

'You're not just getting international football, you're getting world football'

'Kanu, a guy with a heart as big as he is'

'Luis Figo is totally different to David Beckham, and vice versa'

'Football's always easier when you've got the ball'

'They don't come every three days, like they come after this one'

'I want more from David Beckham. I want him to improve on perfection.'

'The tide is very much in our court now.'

'There's a slight doubt about only one player, and that's Tony Adams, who definitely won't be playing tomorrow.'

'We have spent three matches chasing a football.'

'It's no longer an 11 man game.'

'The Germans only have one player under 22, and he's 23'

'For some it's the ultimate job, for the others it's the last job.'

'I've had an interest in racing all my life, or longer really.'

'We managed to wrong a few rights.'

'We are three games without defeat is another way of looking at it. But if we are honest we have taken two points from nine'

'He'll also be very dangerous from set-pieces. That means he'll be a threat from free-kicks and corners in the final third of the field.'

'Danny Tiatto is not going to make a mistake on purpose'

'I'll never play at Wembley again, unless I play at Wembley again

Ladies and gentlemen I give you Kevin Keegan

Perhaps that's why he's gone off the scene as I wondered but the Keegan I remember had character and a desire to play up-and-at-em football.

It is so hard to find anyone like that today. Everyone seems as if their individuality has been ground out of them on the FA coaching courses.

I certainly remember Keegan's Newcastle team. Opponents, including Leicester, were intimidated before they started and their only aim was to keep the score down.

People didn't take the piss then (until he lost sight of the title cos of tears in his eyes) but am I really the only one who wants to see that sort of approach at Leicester?.

Keegan was basically an example of the sort of approach I'd like. Funny it may be, but it's a bit cruel to mock Keegan cos he's not a student of oratory English. I wish I'd achieved a fraction of what he achieved in his life.

People find it easy to mock him while conveniently forgetting that he was a bloody brilliant footballer in a bloody brilliant team and manager of one of the most exciting teams of the day at one time.

Yes he has achieved alot and he was a good footballer, and have respect for what he did during his playing career and the quality of his Newcastle side that never actually won anything. I just showed you why I don't want him in charge.

His Manchester City side that went up about 5 seasons ago was phenomenal and scored horrific amounts of goals. But the man can't be trusted. He loses the plot more than Micky Adams does when the going gets tough. I can think of worse managers than him as a stop gap though.

May aswell ask, is Roberto Mancini is till managing in Seria A???

Well first of all if you did mean Jean Tigana :D I think he's in Turkey, Fenerbache or Beskitas always get the two mixed up.

Mancini currently sits top of Serie A with Inter Milan.

So would I, MA got us promoted and nearly kept us up with a squad that can be best described as quite limited in flair and an average age of 30+, thats being kind.
Shut up, the squad we came down was amazing in this division. He should of kept us up but he couldn't sort his defense out, because he signed shit, and we didn't nearly stay up we were a good 6 points adrift. He opened his mouth at the start of the 04/05 season, "don't talk to Mickeh Adams about the play offs." He didn't deliver, he took the easy option. He left this club in a mess.

Give Micky Adams our transfere budget and he wouldn't have a clue what to do with it. You woudn't be seeing any of younger players any where near the first team. We'd be stuck with the likes of Blake, Dublin and Scowcroft.

I'm with Manwell on this. Adams inherited the promotion squad, and couldn't do anything with it. As soon as the transfer embargo was lifted, he'd spend each transfer window totally changing the squad. He's still doing it at Cov, and is apparently planning to offload and bring a new squad in in January. At the time, all everyone wanted was a stable side and squad.

he did a great job.

1 - not good at keeping leads in premiership but he got us the leads in the first place, we scored an amazing amount of goals, and this was on a poor premiership budget.

2 - although inherited good squad he had to motivate these players and as evident with birmingham etc. this isnt as easy as it sounds as to romping the league.

3 - had the decency to quit when he wasnt achieving results he wanted.

What good is it getting a lead when you have John Curtis, Steve Howey, Nikos Dabizas and Matt Heath to **** it up for you? we went down because he signed one good defender and about 6 shit ones in the space of the year. Did he learn from this? No, next season he's offering Martin Keown a contract.

Birmingham ect is a differnt case this league is of a much higher standerd than it was then. We had premiership players in every position.

He jumped ship when the going got tough.

That thought crossed my mind too. That Keegan's been out of it a long time doesn't help either. But you get the idea of the sort of impact personality and natural attacker I'd like at the helm. If we have to go foreign why not?

Anything but the Fenalnd landscape of managers that seem to be available in England right now. Some of them have been more times round the block than an ageing tart. :(
