Fox in a Box Posted 18 January 2007 Share Posted 18 January 2007 http://www.themillers.premiumtv.co.uk/page...,,10360,00.html Rotherham United can confirm the signing of Chris O'Grady from Leicester for a fee of £65000; Chris has signed a two and a half year deal with the Millers and is looking forward to his first game. Chris had a successful spell on loan at Rushden & Diamonds at the end of 2005 then returned to Leicester to compete for a place in the first team line-up. He grabbed his first Championship goal at Luton in March 2006; Chris made 13 appearances for the Foxes during the 2005-06 campaign, all coming from the bench. One of his best memories was when he scored from the penalty spot against Inter Milan in pre-season. 65K not bad
MC Prussian Posted 18 January 2007 Share Posted 18 January 2007 Hmm... The good news from one side of the transfer front continue. Good move in my eyes. Douglas and Johnson still left to go.

MC Prussian Posted 18 January 2007 Share Posted 18 January 2007 Some have already described his few appearances (mostly from the bench) as uninspired and worthless. Plus, I've heard numerous times that he's just not made for the Championship ("lightweight"). All the best at Rotherham, Chris. (And greet Tommy Wright from me, should he stay longer with the Millers!)

RowlattsFox Posted 18 January 2007 Share Posted 18 January 2007 is o'grady supposed to be a replacement for will hoskins?
Thracian Posted 18 January 2007 Share Posted 18 January 2007 If they get him fit and rekindle his enthusiasm he should do well for them. From our point of view he was never going to challenge seriously for the team after his start of season spat and to get £65,000 for an Academy product who has had limited first team experience is a reasonable return. It's also another wage off the books and another space created in the squad that will hopefullybe filled by someone who is likely to play a more important role. MC Prussian Posted 18 January 2007 Share Posted 18 January 2007 Tommy Wright is at darlington now! Sheesh, you're right. But he was close to signing for them.
hebangsthedrums Posted 18 January 2007 Share Posted 18 January 2007 Looked a decent prospect after returning from Rushden but in all honestly this level seemed the most he could hope for and perhaps a bit beyond him. Always gave 100% though and as a Academy graduate wish him best of luck (its strange but on FM Rotherham were my feeder club and they were always after him). He gave us a physical option up front which we now lack and perhaps should address if/when MM gets in (although RM is priority IMO)
The People's Hero Posted 18 January 2007 Share Posted 18 January 2007 is o'grady supposed to be a replacement for will hoskins? No, I think he's been in to clean his boots although there have been suggestions he's not fit to do so. Hahahahahahahahaa. Actually, it's not that funny is it? 'hahaha' would have sufficed. *sulks*
Manwell Pablo Posted 18 January 2007 Share Posted 18 January 2007 Hmmm, you'd think we'd have enough money to bring someone now even without Milan, what with three wages off the bill and fee's you'd think total at least £100,000 coming in. Not a bad price for him.
BartonFox Posted 18 January 2007 Share Posted 18 January 2007    So the big pudding begins his descent down the divisions to football oblivion or Racing Club Warwick. Monk Posted 18 January 2007 Share Posted 18 January 2007 Good. I liked the bloke, but he wasn't good enough. All the best in his new team! Like others are saying, it looks like we are having a nice spring clean. Keep them coming, provided we can get one or two others in before the window closes. BartonFox Posted 18 January 2007 Share Posted 18 January 2007 Good luck to him. Never really happened for him hear. Because he wasn't good enough yet we gave him a new deal and let him near the first team squad. The judgement of our coaching staff remains very much in question.
