We seem to be really struggling to turn the momentum around in this format.

Confidence seems low and we need to regroup.

Bowling has been poor and batting too fragile.

A.Green bowled very well today, Ahmed is proven in this format and Trevaskis has been good until today.

That's 12 overs.

Mike bowled very, very well today. But is usually awful. So you might get 4 more decent overs or might regret them.

I'd be mindful to give Turner the other 4 unless Davey or Holland are available.

B.Green is a good red ball bowler and whilst he bizarrely made his name in t20 taking a lot of wickets it's usually because he gets carted everywhere and just picks up catches along the way. Basically like having 2 Ben Mikes in the attack.

I would tend to agree as in regards of Henderson, we need someone who can keep us at the top level and I’m not sure he’s the one. As for Thomas I know he’s controlling so I lay a lot of the blame for the T20 failure at his door, however he has won a trophy and taken us to Div 1 so he has credit in the bank.
There seems to have been a lot of muddled thinking and confusion throughout the season as a whole. Holland allowed to disappear mid season hasn’t helped as well as injuries but that doesn’t excuse the strange toss and team selections.

I would say that's that's more in spite of him than because of him.

We appear to be without strategy.

Which imo is unforgivable seeing as it is the only way we will succeed as we are without the resources to challenge on talent.

Honestly, it should be very clear what we are doing but I see constant changes in all aspects of the clubs approach to cricket matches.

Ben Green for instance is batting far to high in the T20, captain or not Thomas should be telling him to bat lower down the order.
Is Scriven injured? if not he really should be playing.
As you say there is very little strategy.

I’ve been really disappointed with Green this campaign. Always seemed to do ok with Somerset. Hasn’t got any decent scores (off the top of my head) this season?

My argument is we have too much strategy. For example Mike should’ve bowled the third over today but some clearly pre planned reason they took him off.

Taylor said post-match that Eskinazi should be back for our next game on Sunday, plus a couple of players could return from injury. The way he said it with trepidation, made me think of those might be Hull........

That's good news we are seriously short of batsman at the minute

I think England will be all over Alex green. IMO he will get called up this summer at some point.

Yeah I think that white ball series v Sri Lanka in September has his name written all over it. You can’t get Bairstow and Buttler out consecutively, have his average across white ball formats and not be under consideration. Something special about him.

The last thing Alex Green needs for his development is to be associated with England at the moment . They are a car crash that spits out young talent.

Personally I think that's where it went wrong for Josh Hull.

Now the dust has settled from the weekend, where does everyone think the blame lies for our inept T20 failures in recent years then? Coaching, recruitment, captaincy, tactics? All of the above or something else?

England under 19 at Grace Road today let's hope it's not another embarrassment and we get at least 800\900..Surely worth going just to meet Jimmy White who will be watching his grandson.

So embarrassing having a low attendance on a Tuesday during term time...

In the last few years we have won the one day cup and won Division 2 both major sucesses for the club so I would be loathe to blame coaching or recruitment. A county our size can't really expect to be successful in all formats all the time.

However we have so far been disappoining in both the formats we have played in so so you would probably want to look at this season in isolation.

1. Losing Maharaj so late on was absolutely massive we got him in so early last season and to lose him leave ourself scrambling was massive.

2. Losing Hanscombe see above only add in his leadership.

3. Losing Rehan to IPL last minute less of a biggie as you kind of expect it the level he is at but just compounded 1 and 2.

4. Short of fast bowlers Van Beek hasn't been replaced and Ian Holland has struggled to do it on his own and hull has stagnated/regressed.

5. Ben Green wrong choice for t20 captain but I think they used it as a cherry to get him to sign.

6. Repeatedly choosing to bat last when we look a much better side defending a total.

You’d be correct. It was exciting but he was never ready and they dumped and discarded him like trash rather than helping his development.

Nick Kelly has been called up by New Zealand for the Windes tour, another one gone.

I think he has done alright for us, a few on here maybe disagree.

We have had a lot of blows this season.

Averaged 40 in the t20 from 8 games with 1 50 (albeit at a s/r of just 120 which highlights how often he was rebuilding).

Averaged 54.5 in the County Champ from two games with 1 ton and 1 50.

Good signing, good player.

Only 4 50s in the t20 - 2 from Turner and 1 apiece from Kelly and Cox. Catastrophically bad.
