Could may be get a few involved in one day games or t20s

This is a good test.

Instead of using the counties as a warm up game before the Metro Bank starts as they do now, why not make that the first round.

I don’t see the point in this. NCs playing in the first round alone is of no value to anyone. Or are you suggesting they play a full quota of games in the ODC? I can’t see the ECB being interested in anything that does that. I think the friendly warm up is the right solution as things stand. The opportunity to play a FC County just once is an important event in the NC calendar.

Be careful what you wish for. If the ECB gets its way we'll be playing the minor counties regularly when they decide the likes of us and Derbyshire or Northants are standing in the way of their test ground based franchise cricket dreams.

Might pop down next Saturday for a couple of hours weather permitting and if we're still in the game. Are they still doing free after tea?

Yes should be

Feel like Cox taking all three formats would be a lot. Maybe giving Patel red-ball or T20 would be a good way of stopping him from being tempted elsewhere.

Hope Hill can regain his form now without the pressure.

If Handscomb's coming back, surely has to be him in red ball

You'd think so. Plays the majority of games. If he comes back!

I see the Hundred could be going to the dogs, what a shame.

Wishful thinking, though it is clear that there is a great deal of variation in opinions at the top. The business of Hampshire selling out to the Indians has certainly exposed the differences in the perspectives of the businessmen and the ECB.

Doubt it'll go to the dogs. If anything it'll be repackaged as a franchise league (see news on Hampshire today)

Averages for the season are interesting.

Batting - https://stats.acscricket.com/Archive/Events/38/Vitality_County_Championship_2024/Leicestershire_Batting.html

Bowling - https://stats.acscricket.com/Archive/Events/38/Vitality_County_Championship_2024/Leicestershire_Bowling.html

You take out the overseas and the guys with the best batting average were Trevaskis and Scriven.

Trevaskis only picked up four wickets all season though at an average of 105. Even Chris Wright’s bowling average is 80. Ben

Mike was the only on contract player for this season to have an average under 40 (though Holland’s ave was 36).

Hampshire’s sale doesn’t include The Hundred franchise based there.

Kimbers stats are mad, 241 in a single innings then in the other 20 innings averages what 18 or 19.

Some seriously poor bowling stats out there.

Suggests to me that Kimber has talent, but insufficient application. Budinger arguably falls into the same category.

2 five wicket hauls all season is laughably poor.

You have to say if it wasn’t for Handscomb’s stats there, then we’d have finished bottom comfortably. When you can’t bowl teams out once let alone twice, you’re never getting anywhere.
