Immediate declaration surely? If they chase 382 in a day then all you can say is fair play. Got to take a risk if we are serious about wanting promotion. No pussy footing around.

I think this is right in terms of a declaration. If the likes of Mike and Scriven can score at this rate on this pitch, you don't want Jewell and Lloyd reaching 100 for none after the first 15 overs.

It's a fair tactic to extinguish any hope that Derby have of a victory and then see if they can withstand 85+ overs.

It’s going to be a lot harder getting 10 wickets if they drop anchor surely? If they have an urge to chase and attack, it gives us far more chance of edges, catches etc. We’re basically telling our bowlers that we don’t think we’re good enough.

I suspect given the win last week they're looking to make sure we follow up with a draw at worst so perhaps a bit of a safety first approach. Would have taken a win and a draw from the first 2 games before the season started but does feel like we could have been a bit more ambitious today.

 

Needed to score faster yesterday afternoon really, feels an opportunity missed now.

They need 6.5 an over so they’ll just bat it out from here.

Im not saying we would be anywhere close to that as we wouldn't but we are also £75 more expensive than Essex.
