Banned from driving

I have to appear in court a week tomorrow having accrued 12 points for various minor offences. This could cost me my Job as i have to travel 18 miles to get in and quite often drive around the country as part of it. Does anyone know how long you get banned for, for this?

Surely "Bastards" would refer to the people who routinely break the law in their cars and expect to get away with it.

The ban will not be at fault for costing you your job - the times you broke the law and accrued 12 points is at the crux of this. Why do car drivers seem to think they have a right to do what they want in their vehicle?

I don't think its too long, you could plead for the job loss in which case your fine will be bigger.

I got banned for 6 months for doing a ton up on the A1 in N Ireland....

Yes, but the average driver is clever enough to slow down when they see a panda car as well! I have little sympathy for someone who manages to get 12 points on their DL im afraid.

That was simply ****ing dreadful. It's the fastest I have ever got home - I was so angry I doubt I dipped below 90mph once on the M6.

Dont worry mate, just drive without the license and in that dont worry about insurance payments either as you arent meant to be driving. Other than that get a moped!

I agree and it seems your a responsible driver.

I myself have only had 1 incident when my car was off the road and i stupidly took it to go to football training, 6pts for no insurance, and 3 for bold tyres, and a £250 odd fine followed. Reason for being pulled over, i looked suspicious.

I learnt my lesson and my licence is now clean.

Erm you might get off, if you pleade that if you get banned your livelyhood will be effected and you won't be able to pay bills etc.

Although if you get a women judge (who are shrewd) you probably have no chance and will be banned for 12months.

you have two options,

1. as stated here plead you will loose job and couple it with a letter from your boss saying he is important and we cannot loose him blah blah blah

2. im sure dennis the toss pot wise would love your 12 points

After accumilating the first few points that would have been a little clue as to the method of driving adopted was not quite right. Am I right in thinking that points go back to zero after a time? :eek:

I actually got seven points for one speeding offence (as such) five for speeding and two for forgetting to change the address on my licence. Oops. Now i have to pray they show some sympathy. I doubt very much they will show any mercy but my boss is constructing a letter to tell them i will lose my job if i am banned.

sympathy from me; after about 30 years clean licence i got 2 within a few days (38 mph in 30 limit and .78 secs on red light ) totals 7 penalty points; so i really have to be careful now and i know my driving has suffered since because i'm too edgy now

to rub salt into the wound there was this bloke on tv breaking about every rule in the book ; even giving false name and address who only got 7 points

I thought that there was something out now-a-days where, if you get caught speeding, then rather than getting the 3 points you have to do some sort of test, but I think you still get the fine!

i had to go on a speed awareness course just before xmas, i got photoed doing 36mph on London Rd. if i'd done 34 or under i'd have got off with it. at 35-36 you get offered the speed awareness course. anything over that is an instant fine/3 points.

That's a sh*tter.

I've been done 4 times in the last 5 years (all SP30's) - lucky not all in a 3-year period though, so my licence is intact. I've got 6 "live" points at the moment.

My last "conviction" was for doing 34mph on a 30-limit road, at 7.00am, absolutely nowhere near a pedestrianised area. Its conforting to know that someone doing 55mph outside a primary school at kicking-out time can expect to receive exactly the same fine and points as myself.

Three times I've been "convicted" doing either 34 or 35 mph, and once doing 41mph on a road that was a 40-limit road two days before...

The bog-standard motorist (both private and business) in the UK is simply shat upon from a great high by the powers that be. The only reason I can't grumble too much is that I work in the business of enforcing laws myself, so I feel a bit hypocritical at times...

...but I'd still vote for the political party that would behead those who drive uninsured/untaxed.

what happens if your speedo is configured differently to the polices? Your needle could be right on the marker but unless you get done you wont know its out of sync will you? Poor excuse I suppose but then again I dont drive. :eek:
