Thracian Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 One thing is certain. It's going to take a lot more thinking about than last season. But right now Cort would seem to be a walk across the Sahara away from Fryatt. I'm by no means convinced Wesolowski wouldn't see off even the accomplished Hendrie in midfield, Sappleton's already making his case and I think Mattock will be competing for left-back not left-midfield. What a pleasant change it will be wondering who to leave out rather than whether we've anyone good enough to put in!.

lcfcmad2005 Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 i would like to see HUME play in the attcking role behind the strikers -----------------------NIELSEN -CHAMBERS----N'GOTTY--KISNORBO----MATTOCK ----------KAEBI----KISHISHEV----HELLINGS ------------------------HUME -------------------CORT-----JOB SUBS: HNDERSON, McAULEY, HAYES, WESOLOWSKI, FRYATT. mattock deserves a chance after how he played at the end of the season kaebis a right back but i would play him on the wing in this league cause hes supposed to be really good going forward hume could be that creative midfielder that everyones been going on about that we need???
Libertine Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Why do people rate Mattock so much? He didn't really impress me that much last season, potential though of course. We badly need a new left back with a good amount of experience.
Guest Gist Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Why do people rate Mattock so much? He didn't really impress me that much last season, potential though of course. We badly need a new left back with a good amount of experience. Because when he's played he has more than coped and not looked out of his depth. I agree we need cover for him, but I'd say he's good enough from what I've seen of him.
Libertine Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 He's been more than adequate but that doesn't mean that's good enough. I'm sure we could do better anyway.
Thracian Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 He's been more than adequate but that doesn't mean that's good enough. I'm sure we could do better anyway. We've been supposedly wanting a left back for over two seasons. Trouble is despite the many claims that "I'm sure we could do better" we've used Gilbert, Nils, Maybury, Kenton, Stearman, Tiatto and even Brevett once yet we've never solved the problem. Now it is the highly promising Mattock who seems first in line though, to me, he's still got some way to go. There may be better to be found but it does seem to be a problem position generally. And of our existing staff, and including Nils when he was here, Sheehan has played the best games I've seen, certainly as an attacker. But like so many youngsters he's not always consistent and is only really remembered for getting sent off against Crewe.
Tommeh Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Mattocks been inclded in the England squad for a tournament starting on the 18th August, so can we assume he'll miss a few games at the start of the season If he was firmly in MA's starting plans I'm sure he wouldn't go however. my team for the big kick off - given what we have. assuming Mattcok stays. -------------------------------Nielsen---------------------------- ------Chambers----McAuley-------Kisnorbo------Mattock----- -------Kaebi--------Wesolowski----Kishishev-----Hayes------- -----------------------Fryatt----------Hume------------------------ Subs: Cort, Henderson, Stearman, N'Gotty, Hellings
Milans Foxes Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 Hi guys! Always browsed the site, but first post! Would love to see this line-up: Nielsen Kaebi N'Gotty Kisnorbo Mattock/New left back Hume Kishishev Wesolowski (Hendrie) Fryatt Cort Henderson, Mcauley, Chambers, Newton, Sappleton
TheBlinding Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 Hi guys! Always browsed the site, but first post!Would love to see this line-up: Nielsen Kaebi N'Gotty Kisnorbo Mattock/New left back Hume Kishishev Wesolowski (Hendrie) Fryatt Cort Henderson, Mcauley, Chambers, Newton, Sappleton That's what I'd play, although Hellings does sound a cracking player
kyleolly Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 Nielsen Kaebi Kisnorbo N'gotty Chambers Newton Kishishev Need new atacking midfielder i.e Hendrie Hayes Cort Hume
Tomassi Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 With Allens thinking, what would your starting 11 be with all these new signings and probable other new signings...? mine is... 3 - 4 - 1 - 2 - - - - - - - - - - Neilsen - - - - - - - - - - - - - N'Gotty - - - Kisnorbo - - - Chambers Kaebi - Kishishev - Wesolowski - Hendrie? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Hume - - - - - - - - - - - - Fryatt - - - - - - - - Cort - - - - - Bench Sappleton Newton Hellings McAuley Henderson Just missing out Hayes and whoever else Humey would play a centralish leftish role as i reckon Allen rates him from his winger days at tranmere and he will be able to shoot long range - his best asset + If we get Lee Hendrie then FOOK ME. Kaebi will be helping out the defence and attack, what a signing! Bench contains winger, striker, defender, midfielder and goalkeeper. Fire Away!!!

Sooper Steve's shin Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 I thought Kisnorbo was suspended for the first game (or two?) of the season...
lee7 Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 first game of the season neilsen chambers------n'gotty--------------------McAuley------mattock kaebi--------kishishev--------------------wesolowski/clemence-----hendrie hume---------------------fryatt/new striker bench hellings sappleton newton henderson cort just missing out stearman ksinorbo not in the team because he is suspended if hendrie is going to play LM then we will need an attacking CM. i don't think that kishishev and weso should play in the same team because they are both defending CM, don't know whether clemence is an attacking CM or defending CM but if we don't get clemence in then we should put hendrie in CM and put hellings on the left.
City Lad Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 --------------- Nielson ------------------ Kiabi -- N'Gotty -- McAuley -- Mattock Newton -- Hellings -- Kishishev -- Hendrie (?) --------- Hume -- Cort -----------------
lookwhaticando Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 I thought Kisnorbo was suspended for the first game (or two?) of the season... Yup... one game I think. People aren't necessarily drawing up their first game XI, but their perception of a best XI to play with on a regular basis. That's the idea behind this thread. It's not the Blackpool pre-match.
Mr Happy Posted 8 July 2007 Posted 8 July 2007 I've had a change of formation for the starting XI, goes like this: Nielsen Stearz Kisnorbo(or N'gotty) Chambers Kaebi Kishishev Hellings Mattock Hume Fryatt Cort(providing he stays fit) A 3-4-1-2 formation based upon who we currantly have signed. The bench would be: Hendo, Newton, Mcauley, Weso, Sappleton(or odihambo, or gradel)
Simi Posted 8 July 2007 Posted 8 July 2007 Neilsen (providing a good pre season behind him) Stearman (with the right attitude) N Gotty Kisnorbo New left back Kaebi Kishishev Weso/New player. Mattock/Hayes Cort Hume From looking at the videos of Kaebi, I really do hope we can give him the attacking role he needs to get to his full potential. I think it would be such a waste to play him at right back, maybe only in a 3-5-2 formation would that work, but I don't see Allen going with that.
FleckneyFox Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 from new information we're getting im now going for --------------- Nielsen -------------------- Kaebi -- N'Gotty -- Kisnorbo -- Chambers Hume -- Kishishev -- Hellings -- Clemence ----------- Fryatt -- Campbell --------------- Subs: Henderson, Stearman, Wesolowski, Hayes/Porter, Cort Id have that with Hume pushing up as a third striker when attacking and kaebi filling in right mid supporting him on the overlap possibly. Hellings and Clemence rotating between LM and CM. And when defending have Kishishev go back as an extra defender.

Stevosevic Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 MA has quite a selection headache in some positions doesn't he. GK - Nielsen, not much debate there DR - Chambers/Stearman, likely to start with Chambers DC - Kisnorbo/McAuley/N'Gotty DC - Kisnorbo/McAuley/N'Gotty DL - Mattock MR - Kaebi MC - Kishishev/Wesolowski MC - Clemence/Hellings ML - Hayes/Porter FC - Hume/Fryatt FC - Cort/Sappleton
