Manwell Pablo Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 Watford fan answering Babs on their Rivals site;"A real shame, I liked James Chambers, gutted that I will be seeing more (and not less) of Lloyd Doyley, who in my opinion never has and never will make the grade as a proffessional footballer. Very Sad, Good Luck James." Sorry any excuse If it wasn't for the Watford shirt I wouldn't know which is which. And I actually dunno which one this is, it was under Lloyd Doyley on google but I reckon it's Lamar.
Durnerz Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 Seems on the surface going by what people have heard from Watford fans to be a good enough signing, welcome aboard James!
Thracian Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 Another of MA's targets secured. Definitely a positive player so +0.5 giving MA +10.5 for his close season managerial work so far and seemingly much more to come. Decent pedigree in our division. HankMarvin Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 Anyone know how much we paid him for? Leicester sign Watford's Chambers Chambers spent three seasons in Watford's colours Leicester City have signed Watford full-back James Chambers on a free transfer, after he rejected the offer of a new contract at Vicarage Road. The 26-year-old, who can also play in midfield, has been handed a three-year deal by Foxes boss Martin Allen. Chambers joined Watford from West Brom for £250,000 in 2004, making 90 league appearances in three seasons. "Other clubs were involved, so it is good that we have been able to get the deal done," Allen told City's website. "James is a player who we have been after for a little while - he can play right-back, left-back or in the centre of midfield." from bbc website

Joe. Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 Fairly pleased with this signing. It's a right back, a position we've been lacking in, and now hopefully it paves the way for Maybury to leave. I know he featured well it Watford's promotion campaign two seasons ago so I reckon he'll be decent enough.
evan Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 Chambers isnt the best technically but he is rapid... his versatility could be useful a little bit like frank sinclair was....
Bojimha Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 I've never heard of him or seen him play but I'm encouraged by what the watford fans are saying and also the fact that he is only in his mid 20's with a lot of years ahead of him. Sounds like a good signing, time will tell.

Simi Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 I've not really seen him play that much, mixed feeling from people on here. I think he will do well, wherever he plays. Hopefully we can finally get Maybury out now.

Flynny Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 Nothing to get excited about. Nothing to complain about. Not that some people won't have a good go at trying.
Solihullfox Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 Work with quite a few Baggies fans, they all say this guy is a decent player and think he's a good signing. Normally they take the piss out of anything Leicester so I was surprised with the reaction.
dandannieldanok Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 Not bad for a free but then again we are not going to improve upon last season by much with players that are average. I hope to see him at right-back because whenever I have seen him in midfield he has played pretty poorly.
Stuliasz Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 Where does this leave N'Gotty? Or will these two be competing for the right back spot? And if that is the case, where does that leave Stearman?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 "James Chambers is one of the best professionals I have ever come across. Always gave everything, was a great team player, had humility, and always got on with the job he was asked to do. Was also loved by his team mates. He also has a lot of ability and now coming into his prime with lots of experience behind him. I'm sorry to see him go. He is one of the nice guys, is so genuine and wish him only the very best, because he deserves that."

Fez of Mahrez Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 I take it that was another pearl from Adie? Nope. "Watford fan" on their messageboard. Almost too good to be true, but I'm gullible enough.

Ric Flair Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 Well at least there's some good competition at the back this year... Of course there is, Casino Jimmy will have the back four playing Texas Hold 'Em whilst Hume is on the tear up the other end. It's likely to get messy, you wait until the back four run out on the pitch each game with those little money tubes around their necks that you get on holiday when you're a kid. Jonbluefox9 Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 I think it's a positive sign that people aren't overly impressed by the signing of Chambers and a couple of our other signings this pre-season. I remember around this time last year some people on here being ecstatic with the signings of Andy Johnson and Josh Low. It's how these players, we are signing, fit into the team that will determine how well they do for us. If they play an important rolre for the team it will be more beneficial than having a big named individual who isn't a team player.

demon_dog Posted 26 June 2007 Share Posted 26 June 2007 IF HE'S BEEN PROMOTED 3 TIMES, DOES THIS MEAN HE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE PREMIERSHIP? STILL ONLY ON A 3 YEAR CONTRACT, SO WHEN WE GET PROMOTION IT WON'T MATTER.
