H-Ka~bi Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Kaabi is pronounced Ka (little pause) be. Like 'can be' without the N. and not like cabbie.
lookwhaticando Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Oh, here's a good example: It's pronounced like the name Abbie with a K in front of it. As for the pronunciation of Kaebi's surname... just like Roninho said: it's simply pronounced: Ka-bee Kaabi is pronounced Ka (little pause) be. Like 'can be' without the N. and not like cabbie. If our Iranian friends can't decide how to pronounce it, what chance do the rest of us have? In all seriousness, thanks to you each and all for dropping by and attempting to enlighten the rest of us.
TinTin Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 If our Iranian friends can't decide how to pronounce it, what chance do the rest of us have? In all seriousness, thanks to you each and all for dropping by and attempting to enlighten the rest of us. .. Well, what H-ka~bi says is true and the correct way of pronouncing his name. But in spoken language, when you talk fastly, you hardly notice any pause. For example if one listens to the iranian TV commentators, it doesn't happen too often when they pause in the middle of saying his name. Here you can hear the pronunciation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCd2R5SWATY The commentator shouts his name right when he falls down. I hope it helps! Ps. Good to be here. Now Leicester City has gotten 70 million more fans.
Persiano Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Hello, yes Iranians speak Persian (To say Farsi is to say Germans speak Deutsch). And Kaebi is indeed an ethnic Arab, from the region of Khuzistan (an Arabic speaking province of Iran). His name is also Arabic, but yes pronounce it as Ka-bee or Cabby. Its funny how both Iranians in English football are minorities! Teymourian an Armenian and Kaebi an Arab!
MBK Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Congrats to MM, what a brilliant marketing move! Long live Iranians (leicester fans)!
