Kent Fox Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Frankly, my dears, I don't give a damn. I don't want DJ - he's too expensive. I agree with Ric - we should not have let Todorov slip away despite how big / shitty Charlton are. Join the Helguson bandwagon. Or regret it.

It's time to throw enough shit until some sticks.
Kent Fox Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Helguson or Milosevic. It's time to throw enough shit until some sticks. I am not convinced on Savo yet. Granted he has a good record, I am just unsure about his age. He's 33, I think, and on our current record of offering two or three year deals... Just not convinced. Yet.

He is vastly experienced, which is what we need upfront alongside the wild cat - Iain Hume. You don't score 35 International Goals and not be good enough for a mediocre Championship club at 33. Osasuna who have done very well in La Liga in the past few seasons had no qualms about playing him for the majority of the past few seasons and he averaged a goal every 3 games there. DONE.

Yeah, I don't really doubt he could do a job for us, but given the choice, I'd go for Helguson. I think it's the age thing, in honesty. Coupled with a worry that we will have another older player who is at risk of injury more on our books for a few years too many. Thats why I don't really give a toss about Fowler (Fat, piss taking, unfit, time-wasting git) coming or not. I will reserve final judgement until I read more comments / info about him.
Babylon Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Watford are now in for DJ Campbell too skysports In the words of homer simpson... "spider pig, spider pig, does whatever a spider pig does"... sorry I mean "DOH!!"

You're welcome, if you don't wash for about 6 months you can also extract belly button bogies from your body, these are magnificant and taste like a very strong stilton, with a hint of iron bru
STUHILL Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 I am not too bothered if we lose out on DJ simply because his price has gone up and up! 2 Million for him would leave a sour taste in my mouth and I think all Leicester fans would be waiting to pounce if he wasn't an instant success! We do need strikers though. Mcleod is definately an option but if other clubs have entered the race to sign him then I would have thought it would be similar to DJ and his price will shoot up. Fowler is always an option, it will be expensive and a risk as I don't think he will be anything like his old self and for ppl to say he will be the championships top scorer is a bit much i think. The one striker that really interested me at the time was Job as I saw him as someone who we could get relatively cheap plus the right kind of player for the Championship in my view. That deal seems dead in the water. SO Helguson, definately liked him when he was banging them in for Watford. Not been too good since joining Fulham, so would he be able to re-discover his form if he dropped back down again. Certainly another risk but if he is cheaper than DJ and we end up getting another pacey striker in, maybe from abroad, then definately a good option. I hope these other 3-4players Allen keeps talking about get signed up soon. The longer the squad has together the better. Players like Fowler can't afford to miss pre-season if they want to start well and not be playing catch up for first few weeks!
Daggers Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 ... **** off and take your opinions to somewhere like Talking B*lls - we are taking over this forum now and The Big John Steader is our king. This thread is liberated in the name of the new pirate republic. There are now no rules and every third Tuesday we will be eating jelly off breasts at teatime.
Chrysalis Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 If we miss out on the three highly publicised forwards I'd imagine that clubs would then know they have us over a barrel...something that ought to concern the price-concious FTers out there Indeed the longer this goes on for the worse it is for the buying club, options diminish and prices go up, cant see why any leics fan would want us to lose our targets. worst case scenario we start next season with only cort added to the firing line with fryatt sold.

A more likely scenario, and almost as bad in my opinion, is Fryatt stays and is as unhappy and disinterested as he seemed to be last season.
Chrysalis Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 A more likely scenario, and almost as bad in my opinion, is Fryatt stays and is as unhappy and disinterested as he seemed to be last season. indeed much worse situation then getting players such as campbell and mcloed in for a fresh start.
Jack Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 I'd rather he goes Watford then comes here for 2 mil. He's never proved himself at this level and i think we should aim for someone that has experience at this level and somebody who is a proven goal scorer, which campell isn't.
Daggers Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 A more likely scenario, and almost as bad in my opinion, is Fryatt stays and is as unhappy and disinterested as he seemed to be last season. But an even worse one would be Fryatt stays and is as unhappy and disinterested as he seemed to be last season, no one bids for Elvis, Stearman is made captain and they run out of chicken balti pies at half-time.
teblin Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 STEVE Bruce reiterated his desire to keep making waves in the transfer market. As the Birmingham Mail revealed yesterday, he is on the trail of Albion's Paul Robinson. And the double swoop on Spurs for Mido and Hossam Ghaly should be wrapped up within days. On the debit side, DJ Campbell was on his way to Watford yesterday, until Leicester City increased their offer and began yet another bidding war. "When DJ eventually goes, then I will have lost six players from last season," said the Blues boss. "It's important that I have 23 or 24 players in the squad if I can, all competing. Interesting!
Solihullfox Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Sounds as though we hadn't matched the 2 million asking price but Watford had. DJ will have been very firmly pushed towards Watford's door by Birmingham and his parasite, sorry agent, thus the stories about him joining them rather than us. If we match or bid more than them just watch the agent come up with another story to say how "DJ decided he wanted to stay in the Midlands blah blah blah ".
