chesterfox Posted 25 July 2007 Posted 25 July 2007 Before the first day of the season, everyone is a champion, every new buy is a star. I don't think this will happen this year but which first day is your biggest disappointment? For me without a shadow of a doubt was v Bolton under Taylor - I had just seen the team at Tranmere in a pre-season friendly and even thought that Akinbiyi was a decent player(sic) and was looking forward to continued success. We could surely handle Bolton could we not? Almost a full house and certainly full of expectation and we got hammered all over the pitch and of course the rest is now history. Having said all that I have never been looking forward so much to the start of a season as now - bring it on!!! MartinAllensblueandwhitearmy!!
David Villa Posted 25 July 2007 Posted 25 July 2007 I cant see us being hammered all over the park though by Blackpool personally and we havent got that twat(Taylor) in charge no more. MA has brought in 12 new players and they are all players that he has wanted straight away. We now have a big enough sqaud to challenge for promotion in my opinion, so let's get behind the lads.

Seconded.

He's not bald Posted 25 July 2007 Posted 25 July 2007 thats what i thought when we played sheffield united first game of the season the season before last. There is such a difference this year...it's obvious from what I've seen so far (and that's everything except the Oadby game) that MA has created a fantastic team spirit I really believe the guy has talent and even if we don't set the world on fire we are going to play with some passion and pride and that's been sadly missing since the last manager called Martin was in charge!
Joe. Posted 25 July 2007 Posted 25 July 2007 I think we'll have a good start for once this season and go and beat Blackpool. We've been handed a nice first game and we should take the opportunity to get off to a good start.

Not that i'm underestimating Blackpool, I just think we should be too good for them.

Just to be clear - in no way was I making any kind of comparison. I am just so optimistic and can't wait for the season to start. I think that we are at the start of a great period. Without want to tempt fate, MA has a real MON feel about him. I was really asking which other first days gave you that feeling of sheer disappointment such as that game v Bolton
Micky Ruddle Posted 25 July 2007 Posted 25 July 2007 Can't take Blackpool for granted, but i think we will win 2-0/2-1. Certainly a victory in my eyes.
Nationwider Posted 25 July 2007 Posted 25 July 2007 Leicester City 0 Shrewsbury Town 1.... late 80's. That ****in' hurt, ah tell thee.
Tomassi Posted 25 July 2007 Posted 25 July 2007 all the hype about the players will get to them, we go 1-0 up, 89th minute equaliser you heard it here first...
Blue Bob Posted 25 July 2007 Posted 25 July 2007 Provided we can field a full team I think we should win easily. Clemence and Kishishev should run the midfield (if picked). Blackpool havent recruited to compete at this level - so far and if that stays the same I would expect them to be one of the favorites for the drop. This should be a comfortable win with the players lining up for shooting practice.
filbertboy Posted 25 July 2007 Posted 25 July 2007 Leicester City 0 Shrewsbury Town 1.... late 80's.That ****in' hurt, ah tell thee. Was that the game walshie got sent off for breaking David Geddis jaw ?
Simi Posted 26 July 2007 Posted 26 July 2007 I think we will win 2-0. A good early goal will hopefully settle us down and we can take the 3 points.
AoWW Posted 26 July 2007 Posted 26 July 2007 Was that the game walshie got sent off for breaking David Geddis jaw ? Yeah, '87, I think.
SystonFox Posted 26 July 2007 Posted 26 July 2007 remember last time we scored a nice early goal Ched? yeah we lost 1-4 on the last day they arent always a good thing so i'd prefer a goal right before HT and the next in the 70th to kill blackpools hopes.
Thracian Posted 26 July 2007 Posted 26 July 2007 Anyone who underestimates Simon Grayson's Blackpool is asking for an awakening. They will also have the incentive of their first game in the Championship after the confidence boost of promotion and a manager who must surely have learned something from MON who was a master of squeezing something out of nothing. But last season's Leicester City is gone and will quickly be forgotten in a footballing sense. The new Leicester is not just about new signings it is about totally new standards and expectations. The team is full of people who can pass and support. It has strong, combative players who'll be fit and focused. However well Blackpool play they will have a fight on. There will be no repeat of the Luton embarrassment of last season, of that I'm certain because MA will face any opponent head on and back himself and his team to beat them. My belief that it will be a draw reflects my regard for Grayson and the achievements of his side but also that much-hyped teams often misfire at the outset though I do believe a winning start would give us important psychological impetus for the season. Whatever I can barely wait for the big day or the season in general. And I've every confidence the ground will be full.

CanaryNathan Posted 26 July 2007 Posted 26 July 2007 I have a feeling you will be up there in the top 6 this season.
Stevosevic Posted 26 July 2007 Posted 26 July 2007 I have a feeling you will be up there in the top 6 this season. All of these canaries around at the moment. If you want a pub where the Norwich players like to go, try the Unthank Arms. I'm not the only one that stalks them there.
Ashley Posted 26 July 2007 Posted 26 July 2007 I have a feeling you will be up there in the top 6 this season. I think Leicester should be looking for a play off spot and i think we can do it we just need a good start to the season although sunderland dint have the best start of the season last season and they won the league
Geo V Posted 26 July 2007 Posted 26 July 2007 Its got to be the Bolton one for me. Shock and Horror are a couple of words that spring to mind. This season will be different because the personnel amongst our squad is of much better quality than in recent times but we have to guard ourselves of expecting to be up there from the get-go because this is going to be largely a new first 11. Still, Im on the optimistic bus.
DB11 Posted 26 July 2007 Posted 26 July 2007 Biggest disappointment was the season when we got hammered by Sheffield United
lildave3 Posted 26 July 2007 Posted 26 July 2007 Biggest disappointment was the season when we got hammered by Sheffield United Bolton, no doubt.
