hello all :worship:

1st post so be gentle :)

i'd have him short term

a no nonsence tough tackling Championship player.

and if our forwards are good at diving, he'll slam home the pens with no probs

:welcome:

I'm not so sure on this. Maybe, as has been suggested, a pay as you play deal. Nothing more.

Welcome

True and if the opposition forwards feel like taking a tumble, then he'll do the job for them

We need CB/LB cover so he is ideal for a season.

All day I have been reading this and thinking 'Where's Babylon?' and ' Babylon will sort this crap out'.

I am very disappointed.

He`s the type of player who will cope well against a big immobile forward within the division but his pace is shocking. I suppose I would take him for free as a back-up defender instead of someone like Kenton and Maybury but only just. He can take a mean peno though lol.

Spot on, Ric

So what light can you shed, Babylon??

Sorry mate.

I've not heard anything since the Clemence transfer, the Dudley one was done at a weekend when my mates sources weren't there.

I'm seeing him tonight so i'll ask what's going on.

Fat, Slow and Past it.

No Thanks.

Couldn't agree more. And I don't understand this great concern about our left side. Seems to me we've got Mattock, Sheehan and Beswick who are all specialists.

Of course if there's a cracking attack-capable left back knocking around that no-one wants, fine. But I've had enough of the Nils types who can only do half the job or the Kenton/Maybury types who cannot do it at all.

Nothing about our pre-season programme has suggested a problem there. Hell, we've only conceded two goals in seven games, one an own goal and the other from a set piece.

Mattock is good enough even now to have attracted interest from two or the top four clubs in the land and Sheehan has already showed himself capable of providing a decent amount of crosses and chances in the matches he's played so far.

Beswick is doubtless ignored by most but he's a genuine winger turned left-back - another with good skills and would rank among the top two/three crossers in the club. He's tidy, mobile and can do the simple things quickly.

I cannot see Unsworth would offer anywhere near as much as any of those at this stage of his career. And, alas, others who might will be like gold dust to find. Don't know what Manwell might suggest from his worldwide reference library.

If you're not concerned that we are going in to a season with Mattock, Sheehan, Beswick, Porter & Hayes for the left side then I hope you'll bear this in mind if we struggle.

That has to be one of the poorest left hand sides in the whole of the league. Mattock has masses of ability and i'm confident he'll make his mark next season. But going in to the season without back-up for him, and competant back-up would be a massive gamble.

Sheehan has been off the boil in competitive football for over a year. He was utter guff at Mansfield, ask their fans. It's also been reported he's suffered from groin injuries for lengthy periods, how true this is I don't know. My guess is that it was convenient for him to be injured, so that we didn't have to explain why else we weren't playing him.

Beswick, for fook sake. He's had a brief role as a make shift left back in the odd friendly and now he's going to be good enough to be called upon for the first team. There were rumours he wasn't going to be offered a contract. He's got a lot of work to do, to be first team material. Especially in a team looking to progress towards promotion.

Porter, doesn't seemed to have pushed on since breaking in to the team. From the end of January onwards, he was as poor as any other Leicester player I saw last season other than perhaps Josh Low. I hope he can regain his form, but the past few months of last season and the fact that Allen doesn't seem to rate him, indicates there's question marks over his head. Again, going in to the season without strengthening at both left back and left wing would be dangerous and foolish.

Hayes, not seen him play yet. Seems like he's got potential, but very raw. Another who can't seriously be considered to be first choice for the start of the season.

Doesn't bode well for me at the minute. If only Gradel was naturally a left winger and Sheehan was as good as you make out and i'd be much more happy.

So he was brought in for only 6 apps between Jan and May 07 and scored a goal.

brief history of clubs, apps and goals: http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=8091

On paper, yeah he might provide cover for a few games.

On the pitch, will his experience make up for his lack of agility against some decent strikers in the championship this season?

Me not sure.

I'd need to see him play.

N.
