Head Honcho Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 There is already a huge DNA database but should it be made compulsory for everyone to be tested and added to it?
Kent Fox Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 If you have nothing to hide, why be against it? Simple. And don't anyone start on the Civil Liberties crap I will abuse you.

lee7 Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 voted DNA'd at birth but was meant to vote everyone should be on it
Webbo Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 I'm dead against it . If I've done nothing wrong why should I be treated like a criminal?
Kent Fox Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 I'm dead against it . If I've done nothing wrong why should I be treated like a criminal? You're not! I don't even see the logic behind that statement. How do you figure that? (Impending abuse level - high)
Head Honcho Posted 2 August 2007 Author Posted 2 August 2007 I'm dead against it . If I've done nothing wrong why should I be treated like a criminal? ...........but you won't be treated like a criminal! How is putting your name on a DNA database going to make you feel like a criminal? Your name is already on many databases I'd guess. Do you feel criminalised?
Stevosevic Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 Don't see a problem, don't see how it could effect the normal person with nothing to hide.
Webbo Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 You're not!I don't even see the logic behind that statement. How do you figure that? (Impending abuse level - high) Who me?! I always thought that in a democracy the government belonged to us not the other way round. The government doesn't own me what gives it the right to demand a sample from me? I'm also against ID cards and undetermined detention of suspects, so there.

I can understand your reasoning this time but if it helps cut crime I'm all for it! I'm all for ID cards too. Just not too happy about paying for it

But the Gov't should issue them and get it back in taxes. That way I don't feel like I have had to pay. Most of Europe have ID cards, there is no reason why some people find a reason for us NOT to have them. It's pathetic!

Just not too happy about paying for it I doubt it would do much for crime, most criminals are repeat offenders and already on the database, plus 60million people on a database with this government's record on computerisation/modernising, it's a disaster waiting to happen.
josedob Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 Sounds a bit too "1984" / "Brave New World" and all that for me.......
Alexikokopops Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 I'm already on it I believe, therefore everyone can be on it. Actually I reckon I'm off it now. I don't know.

I think you've got me mixed up with someone else, I honestly don't take this forum too seriously. Nothing any of us say on here matters a damn in the scheme of things. Right now on to ID cards. Are you happy to have the police stop you in the street and demand to see your card when all you are doing is minding your own business? What if you have left in your other trousers? Should they have the right to arrest you? Like I said in my previous post the government should answer to us not the other way round.
Kent Fox Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 Sounds a bit too "1984" / "Brave New World" and all that for me....... So are CCTV cameras, but without them many a crime would go unsolved. And nobody has mentioned the impact it might have on illegal immigrants.

It would cut crime to some extent but more importantly it would help with solving crime!
Zingari Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 the DNA database register ? is that where you join up for the national dyslexia association

Steven Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 You're not!I don't even see the logic behind that statement. How do you figure that? (Impending abuse level - high) Up until recently only this kind of information would have been held about criminals. To extend that to the wider public is to treat the wider public in the same way as criminals have been in the past. No thank you.
Ashley Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 I dunno about a DNA database but a tracking system maybe. Say when a kid gets kidnapped like madeline police could track her using the tracking device. When babys are a couple of months old they have one installed in their arm or leg.
Daggers Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 DNA: Every UK resident, all births and visitors to the UK ID Cards: Should be free and compulsory Tasers: All police should have them Benefits: Abolish the dole for anyone claiming for longer than 12 months - you've had a giggle now get a ****ing job Castle Law: Introduce the removal of any rights for anyone committing a crime on property belonging to others and allow the householder the right to take any measure necessary to protect their property and family
