Tommeh Posted 18 August 2007 Posted 18 August 2007 I think apologies need to go to Holly as well.I think she must have took about 3 blows to the face during celebrations ! I second that, sorry. although as Fez said: "when we score a goal at selhurst park we WILL celebrate" and boy we did, madness
lildave3 Posted 18 August 2007 Posted 18 August 2007 I take it you are the one with your jacket ever so subtly draped over your beer?? haha classy. Nobody was taking my beer away from me! Which one were you then? Whoever I met today, was good to meet you.

lildave3 Posted 18 August 2007 Posted 18 August 2007 well bugger me with a fish forkwasnt paying attention obviously! will make more of an effort at charlton. That's another advantage of being wee as Lisa would say. Instantly recognisable.
Foxhateram Posted 18 August 2007 Posted 18 August 2007 How much would you be willing to bet that Man Utd will be bottom half of the prem then? hey i bet against this! i bet that if man u finshed bottom half of prem id shit in a wicker hat and eat it! . anyway todays game was a good result we worked hard to take the lead and were possibly lucky to take the lead in the first place after going 1-0 down. Palace played well in the dying minutes to score a good eqauliser that should really have been prevented by us going to the corner flag rather than pushing for another goal. but none the less a point at selhurst is execelant, Palace will be up there contending for the play off's this season maybe even the title, and we matched them this a positive and excelante result for us, we are proving we can match a team lime palace and play some good passing football against them, i bet by the end of september we will be in the top half of the table. and il shag a fat women if were not.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 So I guess 2 games in, the ride has well and truly began and i honestly think MA has the balls to do something with this squad.
Southern Fox Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 I was there but near the front so not much chit chat. I was surprised at how many people loved my new shirt. I have about 4 people ask where I got it from. I bought the national shirt of Iran and had h.kaebi on the back with no#13 It looks awesome
Guest Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 That's another advantage of being wee as Lisa would say. Instantly recognisable. Sneaking in at the bar is my fave.
Simon Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 I didn't make it to the game, but have everyone's (largely!) insightful comments here to keep me updated! A decent result- even if we got hit with an injury time sucker punch. Good to hear about the DJ/Hume partnership second half, and pleased that Weso/Clem got a full 90 minutes together. Hopefully we can push on from this. Watford on Saturday will be a tough game.
Guest Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 It was great to see us look dangerous from set pieces. Pity that we still look dangerous when defending them.
davieG Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 It was great to see us look dangerous from set pieces. Pity that we still look dangerous when defending them. Sharp, witty and cynical, what a one (two) liner
Jonbluefox9 Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 It was a decent game yesterday. We were a bit poor in the first half, especially in the final third. Newton was getting into decent positions but failing to deliver anything worthwhile, Campbell and MDV weren't timing their runs that well (or the ball wasn't being played through when they wanted it to be?) and Palace went in 1-0 up thanks to a well hit free-kick. It was going at some speed. The ball smacked the hoardings behind the goal and ended up 5 yards back into the penalty box. I've not seen it again on TV but Fulop looked bewildered. Fulop did have a solid game though. Claimed almost everything in the air, got good distance on his punches and made a good save one-on-one after a Palace player had got around the back of McAuley in the 1st half. He made one dodgy clearance with his feet although I think it ended up with Wesolowski so maybe it was deliberate! The 2nd half was more encouraging. Wesolowski and Clemence got out of each other's way. Quite a few times in the first half, Clemence and Wesolowski seemed to be in the same place at the same time and it gave us one less passing option when we got into tight situations. Sheehan was taken off after another poor delivery from the left drifted harmlessly over and Porter came on. He held his position well and caused their right back a few problems. He wasn't as one dimensional as Sheehan had been in the same postion. Kisnorbo continued to show his ability in the air. The timing of his jumps must be spot on because he gets on the end of everything. McAuley's taller but isn't as much of a threat in the opposition's box. Clive Clarke put in a solid performance. Offers little going forward which was fine when Porter came on because all he had to do was support and make space for him. Took a knock on his shin from Scowcroft which seemed to hamper his performance towards the end. James Chambers showed his ability going forwards by making a purposeful over-lapping run past Porter who gave him the ball and his cross was cleared for a corner (I think the corner which lead to our second goal). I was much more impressed with the performance, especially second half, than I was up at Accrington and first half against Blackpool. All we need now is to put a 90 minutes together and get the first win under our belts in the league. Plenty of reasons to be optimistic.

Anybody who didn't go to the game read this for a good summary. I will just reiterate that Sheehan was absolutely pathetic. Although obviously the usual suspects will defend him to the hilt and say he was playing out of position (though he should be able to play on the flank what with him being the best attacking fullback in world football), but he had about 10 chances to whip a ball in with his overhyped left peg and fluffed it every single time. He even had a chance to show us his Beckhamlike set piece abilities by spooning a couple of free kicks and hitting one into the wall.
James. Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 I trust your judgement. So do I. That was a great summary. The final sentence is the most important - there really were plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
