Just got back. Thought it was a quality day out. Felt great to get back into it and have a 2-1 lead, really dissapointed to draw, felt like a loss. But now i look back on it, its a good point, should of been 3 but it was a good point considering we came back with 15 minutes to go.

Hume and DJ to start next week, sheehan out, played poor today. Levi in, we looked dangerous when he came on and i thought Newton didnt know how to beat his man and put a ball in.

was it a good atmosphere :dunno:

The game is over 90 minutes and judgements should be made over the entire period....not the last couple because it suits your argument, Anish.

No, not true. It is simply unprofessional. You know that you're always taught not to give away silly free-kicks going into the last few minutes if you're defending a lead. It's an error, it's cost us.

A point at selhurst park is a good result, unless you are 2-1 up with three minutes to go, in which case it is 2 points lost. Nothing to slit our wrists over, we did some good things today second half, just disappointing and something to put right. Taking a step back to look over the ninety minutes takes the focus away from sorting this problem of defending a lead in the last 10 minutes.

Ive mentioned on the ratings thread that I was disappointed that the lads didn't use a bit of nouse and keep teh ball in the corners and burn time out, especially as we were looking so comfortable and they looked lost but they got lucky in the end but a point is a step in the right direction. Strangely, I almost wanted the win for the wrong reasons as I was more concerned that the muppets would come out of the woodwork and say that "we threw it away" and "we cant keep leads" or "its just like last season", "MA out", "Milan is shite" lol. You know the drill from the idiots.....

I`d like to pat MA on the back on this one though as once again we seemed better in the second half. He is convincing me that despite his career in the lower leagues, he is finding it easy to motivate the lads at this level, especially at half-time. What we need them to do is come out firing though because Palace were there for the taking IMO and as I have said all along, this division is much weaker than last season and games like this are winnable.

Anyway, plenty of positives in a division where everyone will continue to beat each other and take points off of each other and we have a good chance to progress up the league.

Such a shame we can never hold out for a win but overall I think a draw was a fair result. We didn't play very well and haven't got a clue what to do going forward, so I'm just surprised we scored two goals today anyway.

I think that was their biggest mistake after we went 2-1 up. We got the ball a couple of times, went on a fast break, and didn't look to hold on to the ball at all. Promptly lost it, and put ourselves back under pressure.

I agree with you that a team is all the better for being able to close the game out. However a large percentage of goals are scored in the last ten minutes as teams tire and the opponents throw men forward. If you look at the goal times all over the country you'll see that this problem is not exclusive to City, however irritating it is.

Yeah there was no need. Levi got all excited and had a shot when he should have run for the corner flag and Hume tried a Hollywood pass when I think Chambers was in acres and could have headed for the corner. All though this is basic and all players whether young, old, experienced or inexperienced should know about running down the clock, I think they got over-confident. At times in the second half I knew we would score because dare I say it we had a bit of a swagger about us and maybe got too comfortable. Anyway, MA would have got in their ears no doubt as we should and could have won.

You're right, it's not only our problem, although it seems like it happens to us more than most. It's just frustrating and perhaps gives us a realisation of how far we have to go to cut out the errors that can make or break our ambitions for the season.

The thing is, half the players out their today were new players, why do we still let them in at the end? It's been happening, more than often anyway, since the MA years... Are we jinxed??

Without reading any previous posts, this is how I saw it:

1. Allen's team selection- Once again baffling. Playing Sheehan on the left wing when we have a more than capable winger in Porter warming the bench is crazy. Porter actually came on and made a significant difference to the side. And dropping Hume? What's all that about? You don't drop your best player for no apparent reason.

2. Again, Porter. I've said it before and I'll say it again, with what we have he deserves a first team start. Came on today and did well for himself, replacing the shocking Sheehan.

3. Newton- Terrible. Tried to beat too many men and looked like he didn't want to cross the damn ball. Very frustrating. We were doing it all game, being too afraid to cross the ball.

4. Generally a good result, but I couldn't help feeling extremely pissed off at the fact we gave yet another stupid free kick away that cost us two points. <_<

For me M.O.M- Clemence.

Thats more or less what i've said. Sheehan was terrible as was Newton, he couldn't beat a man and didn't know when or how to put a ball in, therefore lost the ball, many times.

I wonder what Thracian has to say about Sheehan??

Thracian didn't go as far as I know, so there can be no Sheehan love tonight! :D

As long as he has a picture, and some privacy, Sheehan love is certainly not out of the question.

MA doesn't know his best team yet. Im sure he`ll get the right balance soon. He has already worked out that Weso and Clemence are better as a midfield partnership, he now will realize the importance of Kisnorbo, he has seemingly decided his keeper and new left-back. DJ is the guaranteed striker and I think Hume may have convinced him today to partner DJ. The team is taking shape and he isn't scared in dropping players, whether he signed them or not.

Im not sure what happens when Kaebi is fir or who he chosses to partner Kisnorbo though. Despite N`Gotty and McAuley not doing much wrong, I`d rather have Chambers at right-back and either Mac or N`Gotty partnering Kissa. Its all coming together!!

Such a shame we couldn't take the tree points today. The euphoria after getting the second goal was immense, all I can remember is one big pile of the floor including myself, ld3, Fez, Kokopops, Mablo etc!

The first half was pretty poor to be honest. Newton seemed like he wanted to beat his man twice before giving the ball away! He was probably our worst player out there today, in my opinion anyway.

I must say de Vries was poor today. He never really looked like getting into a position to receive the ball, when he did he didn't do much with it, nor did he win his fair share in the air. Hume and Campbell looked a much better pairing in my opinion.

Porter was a very good outlet for us in the second half, he showed shades of what he could do when he first broke into the side.

Overall, it's desperate gutting to let in a goal in the last minute being as we scored so late, but I had a great day out all the same.

I think you are right, it is coming together. Just a few changes like bringing in Kaebi for Newton and having Chambers at right back when he's fit would do us good.

Fulop looks a solid keeper and Clarke looks like he'll do a job. With DJ and Hume up front I think we have the best partnership possible for us.

Once Allen realises all this we may be onto a winner.

Anyway, who saw that bloke starting on that lad at the end? Why?

As we walked out the ground there must of been around 20 Palace fans offering out 2 City fans, that's all I saw though.

Im on about the big Leicester fan and his son, offering out some chav. The chav obviously gave it the big 'un and shat himself when the bloke offered him out.

I would not be surprised if that was them!

Kokopops and Fez are staying in London I think!
